  • Fun game I play with kids
Platform For Display: Xbox One Edition: Standard Edition
Game is fun. Kids love it especially the fights with the spell casts. Was worried about the slowness reported in other reviews on the Xbox one but probably it was fixed or its within my expectation.

  • Game keeps freezing
Platform For Display: Xbox One Edition: Standard Edition
Not only did it take me 2 months after the release date to get this game it freezes and shuts down my Xbox all the time. I can hardly get this game to play and when it freezes I have to redo everything I just did. Now it has lost my character and I can't get past the opening scenes. I would like a digital copy so I no longer have this issue. ... show more

  • Hogwarts history before the iconic movie characters timeline
Platform For Display: Xbox One Edition: Standard Edition
I got the Xbox One version as a gift, and I have to say that I really enjoy playing it. Aside from learning some basic wizarding skills you get opportunities to learn some Unforgivable ones as well. You also get to explore Hogwarts castle and the surrounding vallies throughout the game. I like that the game lets you dicide on whether you want to fly on a broomstick, or Highwing, a Hippogrif you rescue in one of the missions. I also like that is has several relationship quests scattered throughout the main story, if only to break up the game play a bit. ... show more

  • Magical fun!
Platform For Display: Xbox One Edition: Standard Edition
This is great so far! I did have one problem where it glitched and there was no floor. I fell right out of Hogwarts and just kept falling! But I restarted my console, and problem solved. I’m loving the spell casting and beautifully detailed environments!

  • Wow - something that could/should have been so great fell flat on its face
Platform For Display: Xbox One Edition: Standard Edition
I think most people would agree - a game fashioned after the Harry Potter series would come with very high expectations. For some reason I thought they would get it right but the definitely did not. It wasn't rocket science why - overall for me...the infatuation wore off quick and I was left...pleading that the game could please get to the ending. Only reason I gave this 3 stars is the nostalgia factor. There were no HP characters but the environment was the same and the spells matched up with the movies a lot. The story was...semi interesting. The side quests bland...and the puzzles and treasure caves, etc., way, way way way too much. I think I finished the game and went back and changed some choices to see multiple endings with about 85% completion? I wasn't wasting my time doing all the boring, stupid trials and treasure hunts that didn't do anything to add any fun anyhow. Pro's - - Yes the game was beautiful. Sound was great too but what game isn't anymore? - It's based of Harry Potter. - They included flying - in a couple different fashions you'll find out in the game. - There is a semi setup for you to learn different skills. Gardening and potion creation. You are limited to creating a fairly small list of each. But I did like this and it saved me coin instead of purchasing stuff. - I'll give a bit of credit to the story. But the endings were not amazing. Best ending circles around a certain character that exits...but they didn't create a relationship in the story enough to make me even really care. - The fighting was fun. You could set up a way to be able to quickly shift between spell setups - 4 per setup. At max 4 different sets. You had a lot more spells though. See cons for more on that. Cons: - The puzzle stuff. It was freaking overwhelming. The sheer number of Merlin's trials, treasure tunnels, creature spots, even enemy poacher camps. Forget that. I did a lot of poacher camps because you could at least fight. The other stuff...I wanted to slit my wrists after the first...50 or so? - Merlin Trials - someone needs to be punished for this. Same old solutions over and over. No fun, kill me now. And, I think you get to a point where even if you do more Merlin Trials you still can't up the number of your clothing inventory. - Treasure caves - much the same as Merlin Trials. And at some point in the game...every dang treasure is an outfit with less traits than the one I already had. Same type of puzzles to get in when they were locked. And eventually I had so much money in the game I saw no point in hunting these down. - I must emphasize, when I won the game and quit, I would have had probably another 20 boring hours or so going around solving stupid puzzles over and over for no reward worth a dang. - Way too much focus on clothing. I have nothing against folks that want to play with dressing a character all day long. Not for me. 95% of the bonus quest/puzzle items in this game are clothing based, at some point will always be less armor than what you have, wand accessories that only affect looks, and coins. You could get some random health potions now and then. - Collection of the items that increased your ancient magic meter. I have a huge beef with this. These things were scattered all over. I spent the time going to all of them and solving the puzzles. But they put way too may puzzles on the map compared to what you could get out of them! IDIOTS! I collected, collected, collected more and more and more. I actually thing I got all of them and my ancient magic bar only went to 4 bars. Whatever the number was...after finishing maybe 55% of these puzzles and got to 4 bars...I never gained an additional bar! I kept going on thinking maybe I just need to get one more. Thanks jerks for wasting that much time of my life. - The story could have been better. I knew it probably couldn't expect what the HP series had. But this was...a little lame but ok. The problem was they didn't develop enough of the main NP character to make us care that much about them. - The bugs...ugh. I reset my system probably about 5 times when I would get stuck or something was jacked up. - Replay factor is zero. Hopefully this helps. ... show more
