I love the cabinet: it looks exactly as pictured (I got the one with the different-colored doors) and it seems relatively sturdy, especially once the doors and back are in place. I definitely think I got my money’s worth, in the current economy. It was difficult to put together, mainly because the directions leave a lot to be desired, and could use more words to tell you how to position things. I am an old pro at putting furniture together: I grew up putting furniture together with my parents, and have put together and taken apart most of the hard furniture in my house, but I had to get my husband to help me with this, because I couldn’t figure out one of the steps. It really took both of us to do it, and it took us a couple of hours, mostly because of pondering what pictures meant. I got two, and I think the second one will go together in less than half the time. I did do a lot of it myself. You might find that the directions make more sense to you— it’s the same concept as the well-known store’s directions, but executed not quite as well. Also, note you need to have a hammer and a Phillips screwdriver to assemble it; I did, but some people might not. ... show more

This cabinet is of quality and appearance expected for the price point. We purchased it for a rarely used home office area, and it will hold all the supplies for such purpose just fine. We would have given it 4 stars, as it really is what we imagined it would be, but for the timing and condition in which it was received. Our order of the product was lost in shipping the first time, so we waited for the the re-ship a week longer than expected. Not a bit deal in our case, and wouldn't have affected our rating were it the only factor. However, the package was banged up, punctured, and taped in a way that suggested it was a return from another customer, and this suspicion was confirmed when opened. The boards were all stacked together with battered packaging barely surrounding them, but an inspection of parts found them all accounted for. There's minor damage to a few areas, and we decided we could live with it under the circumstances. For those who commented about the poor door alignment, this can be adjusted. Just loosen the screws slightly at the hinge points, and shift door panels bit by bit until desired alignment is achieved. It takes some practice, but the result if worth the effort! While we don't regret the purchase, it's doubtful that we will be repeat customers of Hodedah products. There are other suppliers of such items in a similar price point with whom we've had better shipping experiences! Hope you find this review helpful in your search and decision-making! ... show more

Very sturdy and good value. Assembly is straight forward but took quite a bit of effort. My hands are sore now from the Allen key and screwdriver, and I still need to hammer 30 (!) nails in order to attach the backboard… A few tips: (1) When attaching the sides, make sure the shelves are correctly / evenly spaced between each other. Otherwise the doors won’t fit well; (2) The doors need to slide into the door holder. It might seem that the doors are too thick to fit, but just use your hand to open the holders a bit more and they will go in; (3) If I could go back, I would do the backboard before the doors, with the shelf lying flat facing downwards, instead of standing. ... show more

So far, I'm happy with my purchase! I will be using this unit in my bathroom for added storage. BONUS: I added legs to my unit because I don't like my furniture flush against the floor, plus it has a nicer appeal. I found all of the supplies at Lowe's. *I would definitely recommend attaching a safety strap to secure it to the wall, as the added legs also adds height to the unit and it may become top-heavy and tip over. Especially if you have small children.* BEFORE ATTACHING THE DOORS TO THE UNIT, FOLLOW STEPS 1 & 2 BELOW: 1. Once the frame of the unit is assembled with the two sides and shelves in place, place the unit face-side down, on its front side (finished edges down, rough unfinished edges up) and attach the backing with the tacking nails provided. 2. Attach the metal magnet plates to the doors. This allows better control while drilling the screws into place. Remember, the doors do not have pre-drilled holes for anything except the handles. DOORS: 3. Attach the bottom door hinges directly to the doors with the designated screws. (*Place the top hinge on the door just to mark and begin drilling the hole. DO NOT screw in all the way! Remove the screw, set it aside, then place the top hinge back into its respective slot on the unit. Top hinges need to be in place on the unit in order for the doors to slide into them. Next, place the door with the bottom hinge fully attached into its respective slot first, THEN slide the top of the door into the hinge (already in place) and fasten the top hinge to the door with the screw. (Repeat these steps for remaining doors.) *Handles can be attached before or after the doors are in place. This is the simplest step of all, since the holes are pre-drilled, so it's completely your choice. *Disclaimer: The above steps are what worked for ME to ease MY assembly process, which I discovered and used at various points in addition to the original instructions.
