We decided that we want to make our own French fries. We have the cutter, the pan will be here soon. Then we will cut our potatoes, and put them in the hot oil to cook. Having these great strainers so that we can retrieve our cooked fries. What I'm impressed with, on these strainers, is that they have a long enough handle to retrieve our fries without burning the fries, or ourselves. I can tell by feeling the strainers that they are sturdy, and versatile. Plus the fact that they came with 3 different sizes was awesome. We can use the 2 larger ones to retrieve the fries, and the smallest can be used to clean out the small, and burnt pieces. That way we can strain our oil and use it again. I love how professional the strainers look, and that we can use them for a long time. Excellent purchase price, and a professional product.

I realized that I needed to replace my spider strainer - the one I previously had was quite old and the handle, made of bamboo, was starting to fall apart. I looked around and found this set at a great price, so I grabbed them - and I'm glad that I did. These are far better than my previous strainer - the wires are more tightly set together, so I can scoop solid objects more easily, and the various sizes allow me a greater range of uses. They're stainless steel (unlike my old spider) and sturdy, and the handle is a good size to be held in one's hand - not too thick, not too thin. One of the things that I've recently used it for is popcorn (I know, I know... :)). I make my popcorn in a wok (with coconut oil) and then transfer it to a bowl; previously, I'd have a great deal of trouble using my spider - in fact, I wouldn't even bother. But the mid-sized spider is GREAT for doing the transfer - it scoops the corn up (rather than pushing it over the sides of the wok as had previously been my experience). I use my spiders for pulling blanched veggies from their blanching liquid, skimming my stock, and have even used it to pull pasta from water when it's ready when I didn't feel like lifting the pot and draining with a colander. I see myself getting a lot of use out of each of these, for a very long time!

These strainers have made me so happy. Made many donuts for a baking segment on our local morning show today and these made the job so much easier. I bought them for flipping and retrieving donuts from the hot oil, but also found they are a life saver during glazing the donuts too. No more messy hands or awkward chop sticks or forks. And you can shake the excess off with these so quickly without tearing the donuts. Wish I’d bought these sooner! If you make donuts, you need these!
