I was very pleasantly surprised that the Hisense 50 inch smart fire tv was so easy to set up. Truly plug and play. Just plug into an outlet, follow the onboard instructions for set up including internet/wifi connection and we were watching tv in record time. There is a lag as the software for each app downloaded. Still trying to get Amazon Music onboard as sometimes an app appears to be downloaded and update installed but won't run. Just be patient. I've got Amazon Video Prime and Netflix working as well as YouTube. They came preinstalled as apps but they had to update and download. I had some confusion with installing my sound bar and had to keep referring to the instruction manual. My soundbar ended up working by plugging into the headphone jack instead of the audio in jack. My soundbar also is powered by the USB input so I had to connect it to the TV USB port as well as the audio headphone port. Minor technical learning curve but once I figured it out was worth the extra step. I almost didn't connect the soundbar because the audio quality on the television is good enough and the difference with a soundbar was marginal. My soundbar has colored lights and I wanted that but I can always unplug it and not feel the audio quality is in any way compromised without a soundbar. The remote can not control the soundbar volume so keep that in mind if you plan to mute through the ads of your programs. The resolution in the television is incredible. We watched an ocean documentary about hump back whales and the ocean photography really jumped off the screen in clarity. Exceptional picture quality. I was very happy to upgrade my 25 inch television that required HDMI connection to my laptop for this larger screen with built in wifi. No more cables. The most exciting thing was that this is a very lightweight television. It's not even 8 lbs and I could maneuver it onto my TV stand (which can accommodate up to 60 inch TV) easily. This arrived with two attachment feet and screws if you want to put on a table but I prefer mounting on a tiltable stand with wheels that I can move around. The soundbar sits on a shelf on the tv stand below the tv so if I want to move to another room (like a bedroom) I can just unplug the tv and wheel it away. Since the tv is lightweight, it doesn't cause any teetering on the stand at all. It is balanced and stable on the tv stand which could not be said of the tv it replaced. The old tv was heavier and smaller but was always in jeopardy of tipping over if a cat decided to jump on the shelf below the mounted tv. I have no such concerns with this television and having the soundbar and the tv remote on the shelf discourages the cats from jumping on it. I am very pleased with this choice, there were many to choose from but I liked that it was less expensive than the competition offering similar features. Well, this WAS a great TV! Great for the price (maybe I got it during Prime Days, now I can’t remember.) Great picture, REALLY great sound quality. Much better than our bigger, expensive Samsung. Super lightweight. I do miss the sturdier base. It just has small legs, pretty far apart. And therein lies my problem. I’d bought this to watch TV (World Cup) outside, and we’re renting so we can’t mount it. I had it on a TV tray, but the legs were too wide so it didn’t fit well, and it’s SO lightweight, a brief gust of wind came up and knocked it over. No more TV. I would definitely buy again, though, if I were going to, and can highly recommend for the price. ... show more

Hooked it up and was semi working. I wasn’t able to play a movie I bought on Amazon and was unable to access some of the settings, which was annoying because if I needed to clear an app cache I couldn’t access the apps or reset the tv because I couldn’t access that in settings. I turned it off and on, disconnected it multiple times and it didn’t fix it. I noticed these issues a few days after setting it up. I reached out to Amazon and they sent me a replacement and thankfully it’s been working since. The fact it happened with a brand new tv initially was disappointing, but the second one has been working great and I couldn’t be happier. The customer service was amazing and very helpful in getting me a replacement. ... show more

Original review: The TV has one control, a power button. You need the remote for everything else. Update: Amazon seems unhappy with my poor review, and tried to contact me to change it. I will change it, to go into more detail about the lack of controls. I discovered that the power button does more than just turn it on. It also brings up a menu to change volume, change channel, and power off the TV. I can't get any of those buttons to work. I can scroill down the list of options (and not scroll up) nor have I discoered a way of pressing that power button that makes an option take effect. So the power button can turn the TV on, and display an annoying menu, but cannot easily turn the TV off or use the menu. But see the next paragraph. The so-called manual that was included with the TV mentions virtually nothing of any use. to me. It was obvious how to attach the feet to the TV, and the menus that can only be operated with the remote were self explanatory. But it did tell me that a long press of the power button will turn the TV off. Still no idea of how to use any of the menu options though. One very positive thing is that the TV listens to me when I tell it which input to display. If I plug something into HDMI 1 and set the TV to show HDMI 2, it displays HDMI 2. That's a rare thing in modern displays. I can't think of one I had in the past decade (at least) that obeyed me when I told it what I wanted to display. All of them would exit my choice (when there was no signal) and search other inputs until it found something, which isn't what I want when I'm trying to display a specific port. The TV itself seems to work fine. Better colors than the one it replaced. The other reviews make me worry the speakers are not long for this world, but we shall see. ... show more
