I'm VERY happy with these stools (2). The bad? Assembly was tedious and long and instruction booklet was TERRIBLE!! No text, just abbreviated pics that is missing certain specifics that if you do it wrong when you have a choice, it's a 50/50 chance it WILL be wrong. So then, you have to unassemble and start over (happened to us twice). But, the end result is lovely. Like being in labor - all is "forgotten" once baby is born. They really look professional and we had no damage to any of the parts, which were all there. Have only used them occasionally for two weeks so only time will tell if they will need tightening, as some have remarked. I would definitely order these again. Swivel is xln't, btw. Comfort is fine - two bigger people and seniors - certainly good enough for 2 or so hours of sitting. Wouldn't want to sit all day, however, as cushion isn't that padded and one would start to feel the hard bottom. And for MY kitchen, the color stain used matches my cabinets beautifully. ... show more

These chairs are very nice and appear to be very sturdy. They are also quite comfortable. For the price they can’t be beat. As others have reported, the assembly instructions leave a lot to be desired. Putting these chairs together is actually pretty simple so why the instructions are so deficient is a mind bender. For those who are going to put these together: 1) the first step with the ring with the protruding wooden strips- the protruding side is the side that the cushion is attached to. The flat side is where the swivel attaches to. 2) when attaching the legs to the ring with the swivel, the metal swivel is on the opposite side (“down”) of the side you are attaching the legs. Just remember that the metal gets attached to the flat side of the first ring. 3) rotate the swivel to reveal the holes where the screws go to attach the swivel to the flat side of the first ring. That’s it! Why the instructions couldn’t provide these bits is a mystery. Took me a half an hour of staring at the instructions and the chair to figure this out. Also, consider getting a proper ball end Allen wrench (#4) to aid with setting the Allen screws. The provided wrench is tiny but useful in some of thr tight spaces. Hope this helps. Assembly is easy, but tedious. The screws have hex sockets. A small Allen wrench is included. There are screws in locations where a bigger wrench won't fit. A few could be tightened by a hex driver In my electric drill, but not most. I recommend a light duty electric screwdriver, preferably with a head that rotates 90 degrees. Your back and neck muscles will thank you. Some pieces will fit together upside down. Watch out for that. The second one is considerably easier to assemble than the first. These chairs come from Amazon. They have great potential but this was very obvious that Amazon sent me a previously purchased bar stool that was still partially together. The wood was split in several areas and a small are that needed to be sanded and repainted. Im upset as a Prime member that I paid to receive 2 new chairs. This chair had obviosly been used and returned. I have reordered because I really love this chair. Hopefully I will receive a new chair that isnt damaged. This chair is heavy and appears to be of good quality. I look forward to getting a new one. ... show more

I ordered six stools, and they are beautiful. One had an issue as the counter sunk hole was not drilled so I had to drill the holes out, but the assembly was fairly easy. It would be nice to have some protection of the footrest as I see them getting scuffed up over time. There are a few areas that look distressed, not sure if this is intended. You will want to keep a towel handy as the screws and nuts are coated in a brown oil that gets on the stools when it is assembled.     • Nice chair, terrible instructions.

For the price, it's a decent chair. The first chair took me an hour and a half to put together because the instructions are so bad. There are 4 bolts shorter than the rest, doesn't say where to use those. The normal screws obviously are used to secure the padded seat to the chair, but it doesn't mention those either. It doesn't differentiate the first step which way the ring faces up or down, so make sure the first ring you are securing to the back of the chair is facing the correct way, which has more holes facing down to line up with the swivel part of the chair. Every step of the instructions calls for a washer with every bolt/screw at every step, but they don't give you enough washers... The support ring for the chair legs, that's where the shorter bolts go WITHOUT a washer. I hope this saves someone else time because overall it's not hard to put together once you figure it out and forget the instruction manual. ... show more

Assembled it today. Count all your hardware first, no extras will be sent. There is a review with clear instructions which we found helpful so check it out. The seats are slippery so be cateful and don't allow children to sit without some supervision. The chair is not as comfortable as I would like, but otherwise a good buy. Also, the seating is not designed for huge butts or large folks. I would say anyone hitting over 180 lbs, is not going to like sitting on these chairs for too long. We got it for our counters and it fits our needs. Would recommend. ... show more

The bar stools look very nice in my kitchen at our island. I think the padding on the stool is a little too thin and have almost no cushioning for extra comfort. That would be my only complaint. Look exactly as pictured, and my husband found them to be easily assembled.
