  • Did he lose weight? Yes!
Size: 25 Pound (Pack of 1)
My 90 lb golden retriever was suddenly 110 lbs at his last vet's visit. Apparently middle age weight gain is setting in and he is certainly more sedentary than he was. Cue this pet food. The vet suggested half the recommended food amount so he got 2 cups of food a day. Of course, he still got his treats - cold carrots, broccoli, bits of celery and the occasional made-for-dogs jerky. He worked his way through this bag which took at least 5 weeks. He didn't appear too hungry. His fellow golden was deeply envious about the new food meant just for the 'other one', so he got some too. No signs of tummy upset, no funky breath, no changes in coat condition. So, it is a good food. As to weight loss, I suspect that adding more exercise to his regimen would have done the trick. I relied purely on changing his food and, as it is, he did lose 5 lbs on it. No loss of energy or signs that he was dying of hunger So the food was filling and did work. A nice plus is that the bag has a terrific velcro closure that worked all the way until the food was used up. I didn't have to find a container for it since the bag held shut really well. ... show more

  • Brand is compliant with WSAVA guidelines. Pup loves this primary ingredient chicken-based food.
Size: 25 Pound (Pack of 1)
I was using the Hill's Science Diet as a secondary kibble for my pup's training, which works well as a low-value training treat. When I started slowly transitioning my pup from his primary kibble's puppy to adult food (Royal Canin puppy to adult), he did not seem to be taking to it quite as well. I later realized that not only was the adult formula's kibble size larger but the primary ingredients were also different, which made me question if that might be the culprit. I decided to try him out on Hill's Science Diet instead since it is also compliant with WSAVA guidelines. It has made a huge difference and his stools are already back on track. I love the velcro closure on the bag, which makes it easier to keep it closed. I may decide to keep my pup on Hill's SD for a bit although we will likely transition to a different formula. ... show more

  • Huge bag
Size: 25 Pound (Pack of 1)

  • Almost the same as the RX diet
Size: 25 Pound (Pack of 1)
Our American Bulldog is overweight, so our vet prescribed him Hill’s Science Diet prescription only weight loss food. For whatever reason, that particular variety isn’t available at any of the local pet stores, and it was even sold out online when we tried to order. Looking for the next best thing, we checked this one out and the ingredient list is pretty darn close to the one that requires a veterinary prescription. Overall, our dog seems to enjoy it. It doesn’t give him any tummy, troubles, digestion troubles, and he hasn’t had any Issues with allergies to any of the ingredients which is always a good thing. To add a little variety, we sometimes add bone broth and let the kibble soften a bit before feeding it to him. So far, so good. We are just about at the bottom of this bag and he’s lost about 5 pounds over the period of six weeks. The vet said that’s a good, healthy pace, and since this food is doing the job there’s no need to change to the prescription variety unless he stops losing weight. The only concern is the number of fillers at the top of the ingredient list compared to sources of meat. The vet said this is mainly for low calorie, fibrous bulk to help fill our dog up, but we can add a little extra protein two to three times a week. Other than the proportion of the ingredients (which is a totally subjective thing), this has been a good option to get our dog back to the proper weight. ... show more

  • Quality Good- The Golden Girls Loved It!
Size: 25 Pound (Pack of 1)
My two golden retrievers absolutely gobbled this stuff up! It smells like chicken, which is kind of rare when it comes to kibble. Most the time kibble smells meat-like, but this truly does smell like chicken... I really appreciate Hills Science Diet for their veterinary-backed food science they use when they develop food. I had a golden with dilated cardiomyopathy secondary to taurine deficiency due to the grain free food I fed her for so many years. (Only the best for our dogs, right?) Needless to say, I am well-versed in healthy & safe, quality dog food, and Hills Science Diet is at the top of the list. They are one of the few brands that did not cause deaths in dogs due to the grain free marketing ploy so many others tout. The only elephant in the room here is that it is very pricey, but it may be well worth it to people who need a food that is quality and in this case, can also helps their dog lose weight. ... show more

  • LOVE the velcro bag!
Size: 25 Pound (Pack of 1)
My 3 dogs have been eating this food for a couple weeks now. They've been on multiple foods over the years as I have an allergic pittie girl. This one doesn't seem to cause any allergic issues which is fantastic! I have another that gets tummy issues and she's seems to be tolerating the change well. They still have some of their old food mixed in but she's doing well. They all have stool that kind of looks the color of the this food now. I guess that's probably normal? This food is very small, round bits so it's easy for small dogs to eat too I would assume. They all seem to like the flavor as well. I'm unsure if I'll keep them on it as it's pretty pricey and I'm not sure if its making much of a difference from their other food. I absolutely love the velcro bag though! It makes it so much easier to store. ... show more

  • Made my dog sick
Size: 25 Pound (Pack of 1)
We’ve been buying the perfect weight kibble for a while but for some reason the most recent bag we got makes my dog throw up. Nothing else has changed with my dog or their diet, so it leads me to believe we got a bad batch of kibble.

  • Great food
Size: 25 Pound (Pack of 1)
I feed Science Diet foods exclusively but usually get the "Small bites" version of the Light food because I have toy breed dogs. I was concerned that the kibbles in this food might be too large, but they are a totally reasonable size even for little dogs. My dogs love it of course. I will continue to buy this food, since it comes in much bigger bags than the one I used to get! ... show more
