My daughter wanted this bike. When it was delivered via Amazon the side of the box was smashed and the front wheel was bent. There was no way it could be used. Whenever we turned the wheel the brake stopped it without ever pressing on it from the handle. I contacted Hiland (it was the mint green bike and therefore not from Amazon) and they confirmed that it indeed need replaced. I requested it via Amazon but somehow my replacement was cancelled. Not sure what happened but Hiland sent me a new bike via another carrier. This bike was perfect. I was happy to know that they valued good customer service and definitely took care of me. My daughter is so happy. I would not hesitate to purchase from them again. ... show more

    • Extremely poor quality with plastic gears

To say I’m highly disappointed in an understatement. After just two weeks of owning this bike, the cheap metal that holds the tensioning gears bent. This caused the chain to not be able to seat correctly, therefore rendering the bike useless. After multiple tries to fix it, the metal continues to bend. My daughter is extremely sad she can’t ride her birthday present. I tried to get ahold of the manufacturer but to start off the link takes you to a page that is non existent, and after navigating the hiland website and attempting to contact them, i could not get ahold of or through to anyone. Don’t waste your time on this cheap junk, go to a garage sale and get an old mountain bike that is made to last ... show more

I consider myself fortunate. The box was roughed up a bit but the contents were in good shape. The thickness and density of the double wall construction should be upgraded. The quality of the bicycle is quite good. The fit and finish are also very good. I didn't see any damage while putting it together. It was reasonably easy to put together. The preload on the front axel was excessive and need to be reduced. The spreader on the front forks was an excellent way to protect the forks. I can recommend this to others seeking a reasonably priced bicycle. ... show more

    • Not a forever bike, but will do for now.

Right out of the box this is a nice looking bike. The assembly is pretty straight forward if you know your way around a screwdriver, but there is where I ran into the first issue. The right side pedal hole was not threaded and had to be tapped, which is always a dangerous game, and the front brakes took more time to adjust than to put the rest of the bike together and the top of the brake line, inside the brake handle, came out several times while adjusting. If it comes out while trying to brake it could create an unsafe situation. (Someone else in a previous review said their child was slightly hurt due to this), but is thankfully okay. When it comes to products for children specifically, more thought and care must be put into it. My daughter is 11 and is familiar with bikes and will be keeping an eye out for those types of things (Like the finicky chain and gears as well) but younger children do not pay attention to things like that. It's quite obvious this is a simple and cheap bike to get you by until you save up for one of good quality. If this bike lasts the summer I will be surprised and edit this review lol. ... show more

Bought this as a gift for my 11 year old granddaughter. She is tall for her age and the bike was adjustable to fit her perfectly. She exclaimed “ best birthday ever!” Great product for the money.
