  • Excellent for Smaller "Exotic" Cacti and Succulents
I've been searching for a good soil mix for my cacti and succulents as the cheaper big box retailers only sell mixes with a lot of organic material and poor drainage. This potting mix has so far been wonderful for my cacti that are prone to root rot - such as my lophs. I even potted some de-grafts and they immediately took to this soil and started growing out roots and producing flowers and seed pods. It's a very fine mix with only charcoal and wood chips to hold water, so it retains just the right amount of water without the risk of getting root rot. We'll see how it holds up after a few years, but it's the right amount of drainage and nutrients so far for some good growth. It is expensive, but the type of cacti and succulents you should be planting with this soil are the smaller more "exotic" types that shouldn't be in large pots anyway. If you want soil for a larger cactus, such as a saguaro, you're better off buying a bigger/cheaper brand as that'll need a larger pot and it'll still do fine in generic cactus soil. But for my more expensive cacti in smaller pots, this is worth the price as only the best will do. I'm not going to be cheap on the soil for a $300 cactus that's only the size of a football. ... show more

  • Perfection!
I cannot overstate how well this works for my cactuses. It’s the best drainage cactus soil I’ve used and I never need to add amendments which makes the cost worth it. I will never use anything else for them!

  • Great cactus soil! Drains fast
Our cactuses are doing great in this soil! Good stuff fo them! Smaller bags so be aware you may need 2 bags or more at least depending on the size pot you got. But good soil regardless. Very fast draining soil.

  • Great cactus soil, little expensive, but it really works good.
Good Stuff, I used it for my dragon fruit cactus and I was amazed how cactus just grew that crazy.

  • quality mix
perfect substrate for my cactus and succulents! very well draining and light weight. water runs right through and allows for even watering. the mix has small chunks of good things that the plants need. and I love the color of the mix.

  • Perfect blend. Well draining and easy to work with.
Best cactus and succulent blend I’ve ever had. I just recently switched all my cacti and most of my succulents into this mix and couldn’t be more impressed.

  • PSA: Needs to be mixed with pumice or lava rock
Killed my cacti because I didn't realize it needed to be mixed with inorganic rock. Retains too much moisture. Would have been 5 stars if I knew it needed to be mixed. I can tell it is high quality but even with that, it's expensive. But I'm really just sad that this killed my opuntia. It got water logged and rotted up. Mixed the soil with pumice 1:1 ratio and the pups grew very well though! ... show more
