  • Starting to grow on me; basic, simple and works; perhaps a little pricey(?)
Color: White
When I first opened these, I was a bit taken aback by the very basic, simplistic operation. However, they are starting to grow on me. No “modes” to select; it’s either off or on via a toggle switch on each hearing aid. They fit me nicely and I had no thoughts that they might fall out. These also the first hearing aids I have seen where the volume is adjusted using a tiny screwdriver that’s provided; again, I initially thought it odd, but once I adjusted the volume to my liking, I put the screwdriver away. The sound is good with no squealing or squelching at all, as long as I put them in my ear before turning them on and made sure not to put my hand over the microphone. The one thing I was not fond of is that my own voice was amplified but that has been an issue with most hearing aids I have tried. It came with 2 accessory packets, each with 3 sets of ear pads, screwdrivers, brushes, and a somewhat short USB C cord. These are listed as taking 2 hours to charge for 30 hours of use, and up to 150 hours total charging with the case (without being wired). There is also a percent battery indicator within the case. As my review heading states, these are starting to grow on me; they’re basic, simple to use, and they work albeit perhaps being a little pricey. ... show more

  • Impressive for the Price
Color: White
The media could not be loaded. I have had experience with very expensive hearing aids and also have had experience with the drug store/'as seen on TV' inexpensive ones – and I feel these GM-912 hearing aids are a good alternative. These hearing aids were easy to set into operation, but I did need to try three different sizes of earplugs (included in package) before I found the one that fit my ear correctly and thus eliminated the 'whistling sound'. The hearing aids should last about 30 hours before needing to be put back into the case to be charged. The little case that holds the hearing aids is also the charging unit. It has a type C connection to a standard USB connection and, once the case is charged, you can then use it to charge the hearing aids 4 – 5 times before needing to charge up the case itself again. The volume of each hearing aid can be increased or decreased by using the included small screwdrivers. I was quite impressed with the volume these hearing aids provided. Wearing this type of hearing aid can take some getting used to as they do amplify ALL sounds – such as your own voice, key strokes, chewing noises, etc. A printed operation guide and user guide is included. A few things I noticed: A) The charging cord is just twelve inches long – it would be more user friendly if it was longer. B) The two hearing aids are identical (no specific one for right ear or specific one for left ear); so for example, once in your ear, you will push the button upwards to turn on the hearing aid in your left ear, but you will push the button downwards to turn on the hearing aid in your right ear. Just a small learning curve, but well worth being able to hear better! ... show more

  • Good decent pair for aid in hearing
Color: Black
The quality is great. The battery life is about 2 days and these change under 2 hours. These fit comfortably on the ear. There is no noises or squealing during use. These amplify and level noise well enough and are not too annoying during use.

  • Nicely hidden
Color: Black
Color coded left/right makes it easy to know which side goes where. Fits down into ears well and are comfortable. Battery last about 6 hours. Charging case is nice and provides fast recharge. To make them more discreet, it would be nice if the outer edge was a more neutral color for those of us with vanity issues. ... show more

  • Good backups
Color: White
These are a pretty good over the counter hearing aid. They need a little tweaking before they are ready to use and it's nice that they come with the tools to do that. I like that they came with different ear inserts because I have one ear that's just slightly smaller and this was great to be able to have different sizes to choose from. There isn't a ton of background noise when I use these, but if it's a super loud, crowded place, these aren't great at picking up the subtle things. Overall, a great set. ... show more

  • In ear amplifiers look like earbuds. 30 Hours per charge. Work reasonably well. Mid priced.
Color: Black
To start: These are NOT hearing aids. Hearing aids provide the ability for parametric equalization. Every person's hearing is different. Even if you are "hard of hearing," the reality is that you have lost more hearing at some frequencies than others. A good hearing aid will increase the volumes at the frequencies where your hearing loss is most profound and will provide less volume increase where your loss is similarly less severe. Typically, an audiologist will give you a very detailed hearing test and then adjust the hearing aids to complement your personal hearing profile. Modern hearing aids typically connect to a Bluetooth device and application, to aid in adjustment. And, in addition to their ability to customized to each wearer, they often include such features as active noise reduction (ANR) to reduce the level of white noise in the environment, and, in some cases, provide multiple microphones to adjust the spatial extent of where they primiarly pick up sound. These devices are NOT hearing aids. They are "in-ear amplifiers." That means that they can't be adjusted to reflect your individual hearing loss. Instead, they amplify all sounds in a specified range equally (or at least in a manner that is not adjustable). It's "one size fits all" with these. That's not terrible--they will make it easier to hear if you suffer serious hearing loss. But it does mean that you aren't getting an optimized experience. Anyone with serious hearing loss and who plans to wear hearing aids every day should consider buying true hearing aids. BUT, and this is key, a good pair of modern hearing aids can easily cost 10-20x or more what these cost. So if you just want to try out what hearing amplification might do for you without investing all that money--or if you simply can't afford the expensive hearing aids, these are an alternate solution. There are also a lot of people with hearing that's still on the border--not yet bad enough to require a hearing aid, but such that they have trouble in some environments. For example, many of us have trouble hearing in a noisy restaurant, even if our hearing is particularly awful. So that's the backstory of why someone might want a pair of in-ear amplifiers like these. In the kit, you get ** Left and right in-ear amplifiers ** Charging box ** USB-C cable that connects to the charging box ** 2x Cleaning brush / mini screwdriver ** Seven pairs of additional silicon amplfier tips in various sizes/shapes. (Medium are pre-installed) Getting started, you'll need to charge the amplifiers. Just seat them in the charging box, connect the USB cable and power supply, and wait < 3.5 hours for a full charge. When they're charged, you put them in your ears, turn them on, and you're ready to go. You turn them on with a small toggle on each amplifier. These are in-ear amplifiers, not too dissimilar to the music earbuds that everyone wears these days. In addition to the on/off toggle, there's a volume dial on each amplifier. If you are dexterous, you can adjust the dial with your fingernail. Otherwise, a small screwdriver to accomplish the same task is included. Note that I STRONGLY suggest you adjust the volume down to close to minimum before trying these out. I didn't do that--I accepted the selected volume from the factory and got REALLY TERRIBLE squelching as I turned on the amplifiers (and in one ear it wouldn't stop until I took it out and turned down the volume). The ergonomics of the volume (and power) controls are not very good and I can't imagine successfully adjusting the volume without taking the amplifier out of your ear first. I also had trouble getting used to the position of the on/off switch when it was in my ear. At maximum volume, these reasonably very loud. The peak gain is 25dB. But,I found them unusuable at near full volume. Near full volume, I got a continual high pitched squeal. When I turned them down somewhat, things were fine (a bit of squelching when putting them in, but OK after that). The frequency range for these is 200-6500Hz. That's a little bit broader than many in-ear amplifiers of this type, but still pretty telephonic and overlaps most of the typical range human conversation. They don't amplify the high end--which means they won't provide a particularly realistic soundstage for those with severe hearing loss, but they do a good job on focusing on the range where the human speaking voice concentrates. Because they are so telephonic, I wouldn't even consider wearing these to something like a music concert or a movie where music is a big part of the experience. They supposedly have some integrated noise reduction, but I could not sense that. If there's an active NR effect, it's nominal. A full charge takes about 3-3.5 hours and is rated to last about 30 hours in use. Since the average person mostly needs them to last a full day, 30 hours should be sufficient. The charging box includes its own battery, and should provide 4+ full charges (per the specs). So you won't have to charge the box every night if you don't want to. But if you take these on a vacation for several days, you probably want to take a USB-C charging cable along. The charging case has an LCD display that will tell you the percentage charge for the case and the charge levels for the amplifiers. On the whole, these are decent enough. They definitely amplify sounds and provide a clear (if telephonic) signal. I had some troubles with squelching near top volume, but below that they work fine and do a good amount of amplification (though not best in class). They are very comfortable in the ear, and I like that they could pass for music earbuds. The price is pretty average for something like this. Pros: ** Comfortable and can pass for music earbuds -- pretty discrete ** 30 hours of working time on a full charge ** Uses standard USB-C charging port on charging case ** Provides useful amplification in the range of the human voice ** LCD display of charging status on the charging case ** Charging case includes battery and can recharge earbuds 4+ times ** Somewhat wider frequency response than many competitors in this class Cons: ** Not hearing aids--not able to fine-tune spectrum response ** No Bluetooth connectivity or app ** A propensity toward squelching at near highest volume ** Volume dials are not particularly ergonomic, and you'll need to remove amplifiers to adjust them ** Not a good choice if you want hearing aids to enjoy music ... show more
