I have never worn the soles of any pair that i have had usually after about two years the gortex will start to leak yep time for a new pair. Really good quality -I am a size 10.5 and I buy a 11.5 running show and I ordered these in a 11.5. I might have ordered an 11 if I had to do it again. Overall great support lightweight/breathes. This is my second pair of Hi-Tec hiking boots. I normally wear 9 1/2 but I find the 10’s fit better. I also wear wide width and these are truly wide so they fit great. The width gives me room for arch supports which I always use. Without them I find the footbed is not a comfortable as I would like and that is the only reason I didn’t give them 5 stars. This is my third pair of Hi-TEC boots. The last two I bought about ten years apart from a shoe store. I'm usually an 11 W. My last pair fit correctly and was marked as 11.5 W, so I bought the same size again. They were too large. I exchanged them for an 11 W pair which I'm now wearing. So, from my experience, the size designations are now "correct." These shoes are better made than the previous model. On that pair the top lacing post ripped off and needed to be reattached with Gorilla Glue. This model has a much more solid metal post. ... show more
