  • Hard to beat, until you use it
Size: 6''
Great vise and for the price i dont think you can find a better one. Update: used it maybe 20 times and the gear that tightens the vise has stripped. Not worth the money. After 5 uses the side clamp that stops it from spinning. I wish i would have not bought this. If you by this you are a fool just like i was. Youve been warned. ... show more

  • Needs tear down, cleaning, and lubrication before using.
Size: 4''
For the price, this item seems worth it if you are willing to do some much needed maintenance to it before you mount it and start to use it. Once the maintenance is done, this is a nice product. First thing i noticed was how turning the vice handle made the spring inside made a weird binding noise. This is due to lack of lubrication and a gritty substance all over the inside of the item. It was also hard to open up because of fighting the friction. I tore the vice apart, including taking the cotter pin out that holds the spring in place on the crank handle. Wiped everything down to get rid of that grit that would destroy the vice if I didn’t. Then i took my wire wheel to the surfaces that rub together when operating the vice to clean off over sprayed paint. Then i noticed some edges weren’t milled nicely, so i filed them flat or rounded sharp edges. Then i lubricated applicable surfaces with copper based anti-seize. Getting the cotter pin back in place was a serious pain, good luck getting yours back in. I used a needle nose and a giant channel locks to compress the spring. Once the vice was back together, it operated in a nice fashion. Moves easily and no more binding spring. ... show more

  • Good vise but it was broken on arrival
Size: 4''
When I opened the package one of the feet was broken off. When I put the two pieces together, it was clear that it wasn't cast correctly as all three feet wouldn't sit flat at the same time. Unfortunately, by the time I got around to opening the package and discovering the broken piece, the return window had closed for it (missed it by a week). So I used some JB Weld putty and put it back together and even added some under the broken foot to lift it up and make it level with the other two. I used a Dremel tool to smooth out the swivel and feet so now it works perfectly. I easily drilled and installed it on my thick workbench with 6" x 3/8" bolts and lock washers on top and larger diameter washers underneath and the JB Weld is still holding. Lesson learned...open packages immediately. ... show more

  • Small enough when space is critical, maighty for DYU persons.
Size: 4''
Repairs around home, hobbies. The size and price doesn't give justice to the versatile usage that you can extract from this vital tool. Heavy enough to perform many tasks even without fast it to anything, therefore you can move it near where your problem is if you place it flat and safe as an extra wrench, vice, hang, etc. Additionally has the advantage that you can rotate it if you're need to any horizontal angle, and/ or you can make more heavier and stable, but still portatil fix it to a wooden base or metal one, or combo by bolts attached to the prefabricated perforated base. It saves you time, money, pain, and accidents; even though it's small. I was planning to get a bigger one later, but not necessary at all. This one is my work mule from my toolbox, works nicely, but definitely I will get a smaller stead in addition to this one for holding delicate stuff like beads, since this one is to big but also can be used for that with the precaution of covering the jaws of the vice with clothes or another similar stuff or buy the accessories for that purpose. ... show more

  • Update: POOR product.
Size: 5''
This is a revised, updated review: After a mere 3 weeks of light home workshop use, the sliding jaw of this vise CRACKED nastily when simply securing a section of 2x4 to cut. It is, of course, cast iron, but beware that it's CHEAP cast iron. I've since returned this vise and replaced it with a better quality model. Though, since then, I've also sourced a GOOD vintage one.... one that's been around for 50+ years and will no doubt be around for a hundred more! This is an unpaid/non-reimbursed product review. ... show more

  • Functional Vise at a reasonable price.
Size: 4''
Vise is solid and fairly well built. The swivel base worked, but not as smoothly as I wanted. I smoothed and rounded corners slightly on the locking bar which improved operation. A light layer of automotive grease on the swivel joint improved movement. Also added a bit of grease to the screw shaft to easy clamping movement. Only minor con I found was slight side to side movement of the moving jaw, maybe 1 mm. I don't expect this to be an issue for my use. Overall, I'm satisfied with purchase. ... show more

  • It is poorly made!
Size: 4''
Absolute junk! Used this vise two times. On the second time without even applying a lot of pressure, the screw mechanism broke sending half the vise flying to the floor just missing my foot! So not only is this thing crap, it’s dangerous. Stay away.

  • This is a super solid vice for the price
Size: 4''
Ok this vice is really the bees knees as for vices. The jaws are steel and they have steel inserts that can be changed out for plastic or wood inserts. It has a 270 degree swivel with two clamps. It has 3 points to lock down the vice on your work bench. This is a super solid vice for the price. I recommend this vice for work holding anything less than 4 1/2 inches. And it also has a flat surface anvil. ... show more
