This is a typical, high-quality Hercules stand. The alto peg goes in the middle and there are holes for two additional pegs on two of the legs. I wish there was also a hole on the third leg. Otherwise perfect.

    • Hercules makes a great stand
I have various kinds of Hercules stands, and they are all well-made and sturdy. This alto flute stand also works for a bass flute. I wish the stand itself were just a little taller, but it works! Now, I need them to make a stand that has pegs for all my flutes - bass (which, as I said, the alto peg works, but I wish it was a bit longer), alto, "C" flute, AND piccolo!     • More security for your money...and instruments!
I have been looking for an alto flute stand for a while. This stand allows me to attach my flute and piccolo pegs to it as well. The alto sits close to center on the stand and does so very securely. Added my flute and piccolo as well and found it even MORE stable than my older Hercules stand (however, that one was even better than most on the market). I have tried many different stands and find that Hercules stands are, by far, superior to any other stand that I have tried. Most other stands that I have tried aren't as "heavy" as the Hercules, tend to be wobbly and instruments do not sit as securely. The bases seem to be too small to prevent tipping when loaded with multiple instruments. ... show more

    • Center peg is reliable but pegs that go in the legs aren't stable
The alto flute peg is great but the flute and piccolo pegs have tilted. I don't mind for the piccolo but it's worrisome enough for my C flute that I got a separate stand for it.

    • Padded base and solid construction
Just got this and I love the foam pad at the base to protect the instrument. I haven't used it yet but I am please with it's construction. I will update this after use in a few days.

    • does the job for a bass flute too
I bought this for my bass flute. It is strong and sturdy enough to handle the bass, although it leans a little because the peg is not wide enough. In addition, I wanted to be able to put additional pegs on it so that I could store the bass mouthpiece on another peg (since the mouthpiece is on a crook, it will not drain when the flute is standing on end) and my concert flute on a second peg. Although I couldn't find info that said you could add pegs, in fact, you can. There are two other peg screw holes so that you can add the other pegs. ... show more

I did have also by the add-on holder for the concert flute, but it screwed on easily and both flutes are held securely.

The stand works very well for my alto flute, either with the straight or curved headjoint. The stand is very stable, even on carpet. I don't think I would trust any stand less stable or secure for a curved headjoint alto flute. I am quite impressed with my Hercules stand and would highly recommend it. ... show more
