I did not order this to run an electric fence, although it looks like it would work really well for that purpose. I ordered it for use as an exterior twine with unique properties. It is really a polyethylene/stainless steel composite twine and it has the best properties of both materials. The polyethylene contains a good dose of UV stabilizer and is impervious to moisture, and the stainless steel is intrinsically weatherable and very strong, so the twine has an outdoor lifetime of at least 5 years. The SS wire makes it quite stiff - much stiffer than 2.5mm (1/10 inch) nylon or polypropylene twine - yet it is easily tied into knots. Unlike regular twine, it does not stretch or sag over time; that makes it great for constructing a garden trellis that won't sag over the season. It's a twine with really unique properties, and I'm sure that the more I use it, the more uses I will find for it. This is some great performing electric fence wire! Easy to work with and easily seen. Insulators are easily attached too. I am putting some up on my back fence that faces a road and a river that I've seen several creatures fling themselves over the fence to get into my nut and fruit trees and my garden too. Now I will be adding chickens to the equation. I don't want foxes, raccoons, skunks, and other egg thieves to enter the yard. This stops them, per my cameras!! I have section of my wooden fence that is falling apart on the back of my property. An entire fence panel is rotted with missing posts. A friend of mine suggested wrapping the bad section with wired rope, tethering it to the stronger panels on either end. The stainless steel wires are woven with polyurethane to make a super strong hold. By weaving the wire rope in between each fence board, I was able to lift up the sagging panels and hold them securely in place on each post end. The wire rope is much harder to cut through than regular cloth rope and acts as a deterrent to potential intruders. It also sealed the gap area that unwanted animals were able to walk through. This is an excellent temporary emergency fix that keeps my property line safe until the permanent fence repair can be scheduled. Good tip. ... show more

I got this to put around our trees and yard to help keep deer and antelope out. I have used a tape that does not stand up to our wind. The tape catches the wind, flaps, and eventually break. This wire, being round, does not catch the wind and should hold up long term. It transfers the electric charge well in my tests. It is easier to roll out and I am guessing easier to roll up than tape. ... show more
