As an aunt I always look for a gift that surprises my nephew and this remote control car was a great success. Since we took it out of the box he was fascinated by the LED lights and how fast it runs. Control is simple, even for a child, and reaches very good speed (even I had fun playing with it!). I liked that it comes with two rechargeable batteries, allowing us to play longer without waiting for it to charge. In addition, the off-road monster truck design allows you to walk both in the yard and on the sidewalk without problem. It is sturdy, withstands the typical blows of an enthusiastic child, and it shows that it is made with good materials. Seeing my nephew's smile while playing is priceless. Fun cars! My 3 and 4 year old haven’t broken them yet. They intercept the wrong car if you don’t turn them on in a certain order but other than that they had held up well. Hours of fun.

We hoped to provide our grandkids RC cars for the sand dunes of the Outer Banks but these didn't quite hit the mark. They were smaller than I expected but that's on me! The dimensions were in the specs... I didn't read them. :( Consequently, on soft sand with any footprints, they'd bog down. There was still plenty of wet, tidal sand and the traffic free street to play on. That's where we realized the larger problem. The remotes are so sensitive, they were nearly impossible for the kids to drive. They reached top speed with a small pull of the throttle and weren't steerable at that speed. The kids had some fun zipping them backward and forward but that got old fast. If the throttle was softer, I think we still would have gotten our money's worth out of them. ... show more

    • Perfect intermediate RC car for kids

This is a great middle RC car...in between the slower simpler controlled ones and the super fast ones that you need to be better to drive well with. This actually does have a pretty fast speed...will make it down a full basketball court in a few seconds, but it isn't so fast that you don't have time to steer it or enjoy actually driving it. I would say it is not really useable inside though...too fast for that, so it will crash into a wall within 3 seconds or driving it. Ideally you need at least the size of a 1/2 basketball court to have the most fun with it and be able to turn, steer, backup etc...basically cut loose with it and not worry about going into the grass. Only reason I did not give it 5 stars is that I wish it had more ability to go off hard surfaces. The wheels make it seem like it can...don't expect it to do anything crazy, but as soon as it goes into the grass, it pretty much stops. If you have very short Bermuda grass or hard packed dirt, it might work some...but for us, it is pretty much only usable on hard surfaces like sidewalks, driveway, basketball court etc. That said, when it is on those surfaces, it works fantastic. ... show more
