I usually pick up garbage bags from my local store that are considered "strong" but they end up always tearing especially when you are trying to tie the string. These garbage bags though are perfect! I haven't had one tear even when stuffing it, and the tie is strong too, doesn't cause the bag to tear when closing it to throw away!     • Do NOT buy - Read the 1-Star Reviews before Purchasing - Hefty Changed the Design - NOT 13 Gallon
This is truly a 1-star review, but I gave it 5-stars to alert people to refer to all of the new 1-star reviews after Hefty redesigned the bags. I've been buying 13 gallon trash bags by Hefty for years. Suddenly the bags are smaller the old trash bags I bought a few months ago. They aren't long enough to fold over the lip of my trash can like Hefty's old 13 gallon bags. Once full of trash, they fall down into the trash can and rip open almost every time I pull it out of the trash can. This was never a problem before with Hefty's true 13 gallon bags. Hefty has definitely put profits over quality on the "new and improved" revision of this bag. They made the plastic thinner and reduced the size of the bag significantly while still calling it a 13 gallon bag. I checked the box and the previous bags were 23.75" Wide and 27" Tall. These "new and improved" Hefty 13 gallon bags are only 24-7/8" tall. They cut off a few inches hoping no one would notice. The new bags are 0.9 mil thickness. UPDATE 16/JAN/2021 - I can't wait to be finished with these horrible bags. Hefty sure tricked me on this purchase. They are too small for my 13 gallon trash can and they continually rip when I pull them out. They also fall down inside the trash bin because they are a few inches shorter than the normal 13 gallon bags. What can I say, I like the blackout option and I think the "body" of these bags are pretty sturdy, however, they will tear at the top. At that most important zone between the body of the bag and right below the channel for the tie. The most crucial part of the bag is also the most delicate. I've had them tear just shaking them open. Don't get me started trying to pull them out of the can or pull the ties to gather the neck to close the bag or even lift it up. So be warned, treat this bag gently and do not put too much pull on the top of the bag. Now for the smell. I thought, how bad could the Clean Burst scent be? Well if you have a kitty litter box and buy any clumping cat litter that has a scent, you will recognize this fragrance. Indeed, it is a Clean Burst of freshly poured kitty litter scent, only somehow more nauseatingly obnoxious. Who ever thought this smell, whether designing kitty litter or garbage bag fragrances, was "clean", is absolutely demented if not down right evil. Minus 5 stars for scent, plus 4 stars for durability (most of bag), plus 2 stars for strength (top or 'neck' of bag) equals plus 1 star. ... show more

I was looking for a good buy price-wise, and these are less expensive than most of the better quality bags in the store. I like that they are black.
