These are the perfect contractor's bags: 3 ml thick, opaque, very heavy duty, 42 gallon capacity, and easy to close when filled. I highly recommend them! Most contractor bags are 55 gallon capacity; however, I just cannot lift a bag that is full with 55 gallons' worth of heavy items. I do try to even the loads out among every bag I use, but more often than not, I just can't lift them. These 42-gallon capacity bags are the same thickness as the larger bags, but are easily lifted. My family and I like these bags for our household trash. We especially like the flaps with the built-in handles. The bags we hook on our metal rolling rack. When the bag gets too heavy for the rack, we unhook it. The bag then can sit by itself. We continue to fill the bag. My son takes the bag to the dumpster. By the time he takes it out, it must weigh about 50 or 60 lbs, maybe more. The bag never looks as though it is stretched out. We never have a fear that the bag will break. We also use another bag to hold our recycle which includes flattened boxes, jars, cans, paper etc. That bag we dump in the dumpster provided and my son just brings the bag back and we refill again. These are absolutely the best heavy-duty bags I've found for lawn and general-use shop bags. With a thickness of 3 mils, they're noticeably thicker, sturdier, and much more puncture resistant than the thinner bags you see for sale at Walmart, Costco, Home Depot, etc. I used to buy bags that have a drawstring closure. But the problem is that the drawstring often breaks when you're trying to close a bag that's really full. Not so with the tie flaps on these bags. And I also like the fact that the flaps are long enough to tie a knot, even when the bag is really full. And unlike some other bags I've purchased that are scented with a sickeningly sweet perfume. These bags have a mild chemical/plastic-type smell that I don't find objectionable. Complaints: These bags come rolled up in the box, and it's easy to separate single bags from the roll. However, I sometimes come across bags that are very difficult to open. In some instances, I've literally spent over a full minute trying to get the bag open (no, I'm not trying to open the wrong end of the bag). On some bags it's as if they've been sealed at both ends. The only way I can get them open is to make two tabs out of strong packing tape. After sticking a tab on each side of the bag, I then pull on the tabs to get the bag open. It's only for this reason that I'm giving these bags a four-star rating instead of five. ... show more

I purchased this with the subscribe and save. Just heavy duty black trash bags. No scent that I could tell, but it's a trash bag not flowers. So it doesn't need to smell like anything.
