While the brush guard fit my JD X540 perfectly, the powder coat on the ends of the removable rod that allows it to swivel down when opening the hood was not concentric. As a result two large men had to pound the end of it with a sledge hammer and punch to remove it. Another reviewer said he drilled out the holes and repainted to make this rod move freely. I took a different approach. After using a digital micrometer to verify the ends of the rod were not round, I sanded down the powder coat until the rod just barely slid through the holes. Then I sanded a bit more and repainted with durable epoxy paint. I'm a bit concerned about the nuts vibrating loose from the pivot bolts. I applied VibraTite to the bolts but would be happier with a hole crosswise through the bolts that I could put a cotter pin through to make sure this never happens. Update: Turns out that my concern about the nuts vibrating loose was well-founded. One fell off despite the VibraTite and I lost all the hardware on that side somewhere in my 1-acre lawn and the other side was very loose. When I contacted the seller, I learned they don't stock replacement hardware. They did identify the stock hardware (listed below in case someone else needs it) but the spacers are custom hardware. I ended up paying a machinist $50 to make a bunch of them on his lathe out of steel bar stock. Moral of the story is to use blue (medium) LocTite or equivalent so you don't lose the hardware. This brush guard looks great on my 2023 X590. It was a perfect fit but it's a little loose. I can wobble it by hand easily. It can't fall off or anything. I read others said it rattles but I wear hearing protection when I use the machine so if it does rattle I don't hear it. I have to admit it is heavy duty and it looks great on my 590. I thought it was a little pricey for a decoration but I wanted it so I bought it. ... show more
