Make Reliable Snugging System Q: Can I move the fastener lock without pressing the button? A: That's not the correct way to use this product. If you drag the laces anyway with the cord locking, the friction will damage your laces and those extra thin laces may slide under the clamp disc, and you will have to reinstall the lock. Q: Can these be used for 1/4’’ cords? A: No, they can’t. The cord hole diameter is 3.5mm, 1/4’’ rope can’t go though. But if you use them with 1/8’’ cords, they are perfect. Please do a little measurement to see if your laces or strings are within 3.5mm.

These are well made. The amount of tension on the holding mechanism is difficult to overcome when you are putting the cords through them initially but, once through, that which makes them difficult to pass the cord through is the very thing that will prevent them from slipping. I note that some cords are held better than others (cotton, not so well) but I am very happy with this purchase and use these on all my clothing with cords (sweat pants, gym shorts, etc). My son had dyspraxia. It means he has coordination issues. He doesn't like to wear shoes with laces because it's so hard for him to tie them. As he has gotten older, he's decided he wants to learn how to properly tie his shoes so he doesn't have to be embarrassed about this anymore. The problem is, being able to hold your cross knot tight while doing your loops. This product is great. It allows him to synch up his laces and know they will stay tight even if his loop knot does not. It allows him to just focus on tying the loop knot and know his laces will still be secure. We are viewing this as a scaffolding tool for him to learn the harder part of tying the shoe knot without worrying about the under cross knot getting loose. Once he has mastered the loop knot, he can transition to the under cross knot. Thanks for making these. It will definitely help him. ... show more

One star for not stating it won't work with flat laces. I liked the design with the button on top and they work well with round laces. The problem is they don't work well with flat laces. On the outside it's a solid piece so the round holes you loop the laces through really do go through a cylinder which is completely enclosed. But on the inside, the inner holes which are pushed up by the spring, are not completely enclosed cylinders, they're curved plates so there's still the ability for the lace to move from the top to underneath and consequently not receive any spring pressure. If you have a preference for flat laces, which I do, these won't work at all, they always slip. I prefer the flat laces because you can, after tying a knot, melt the laces together instead of joining them with a plastic clasp. The plastic clasp is annoying and weighty. When you melt the laces together you don't feel any weight bouncing on your shoe. Unfortunately, most round laces don't melt well, they tend to remain sticky after drying. ... show more
