  • Good budget vice.
I bolted this vice onto the top of a small workbench. All moving parts work as smoothly as can be expected. The jaws are pretty narrow, but grab very solidly. The screw that locks the swivel base in place holds very well, but the opposite side wiggles a little when putting full force into cutting steel clamped in the vice with a hacksaw. I find that wiggle annoying, and will probably find a way to fix it; but it's really not deal-breaker bad. In all, this is a good option for its price-point. There are much better ones out there, but they are much more expensive. ... show more

  • Nice solid vice with good clamp
This is a little larger portable vice. Nothing fancy, just a basic vice. Seems plenty sturdy and the clamp holds it in place well. I have a smaller portable vice which is nice to move around because it is so small, but then because it is so small the uses are really limited. This one isn't trivial to carry around, but will be useful in those situations where you need something closer to full-size vice in a temporary location. ... show more

  • Good basic vise
It has good clamping force and stays in place when clamped to the table. The rotating feature makes it easier to access many angles. I removed one star from my review because one of the holes that the bolts go through was not machined properly and I had to file it out some to make it fit. Other than that it is a good, solid product. ... show more

  • Solid Vise
Nice Solid Bench Vise. Comes with at least 2 ways of mounting either using the clamp included or Drilling and mounting with the included Bolts. I have been needing a better bench vise for quite a while now. The one I had was a 3" clamp on Vise and it was ok for very small items but holding anything larger than 2" was no Bueno. This vise is almost twice as large and really locks thing down when you need it. It has a set of Pipe Jaws to hold round items and the regular jaws work well on anything I have put in them. It feels like it's made from Cast Iron and the suggested price was reasonable for a solid piece of usable kit. ... show more

  • Nice vice.
The media could not be loaded. This is a very good heavy duty bench vice. It appears very well made with a good powder coat finish. It comes with four bolts to bolt it to your workbench and it also comes with a clamp to make it more portable. The vice does need to be bolted to the clamp in order for the clamp to work properly. The problem I encountered is that the bolts provided are too long for the clamp and separate bolts need to be purchased in order to use the clamp without using losing rotation. For this reason I deducted one star. If you are planning on bolting it to your workbench I see no issue but if you plan on using the clamp feature additional bolts should be provided as the picture in the description, the bolts definitely appear to be shorter. ... show more

  • Very sturdy
The quality and durability of this vise are excellent. It is very heavy and solid, giving high stability. They provide 2 methods of mounting this to your bench, clamping and bolting. I prefer using the bolts for a more secure setup. Clamping is a nice option if you plan to move this around or just don't want to put holes in your work table for whatever reason. This model also has the helpful feature of swiveling to get the best working angle. I love this feature, and it definitely sets this one above my old unit. The jaws clamp down very tight, and I havent had anything slip out yet. The heavy duty materials and design should last for many years, which makes this vice a great value. ... show more

  • Very nice utility vice. Well made, perfect for small workbench
My shop has a very small workbench. I have a larger vise than this one mounted on a pedestal, but with no workspace under it, it is inconvenient for small projects requiring a vise. This little guy is perfect for my needs and I can remove it when I need the space. It's very solid and well made. I would have preferred two lock downs for the swivel base, but that's a nit and a personal choice. You will need to lubricate it, since it comes completely dry. Turn the vise upside down, remove the bolt holding the vise to the swivel plate. Coat it with a light coat of grease. Lubriplate is a good choice. Also lube the worm gear and the clamp screw on the bracket. It makes movement a lot smoother. The base and the bracket are symmetrical, so you can mount it directly to the bench or to the bracket in 4 different positions. Bolts for attaching the vise to the bracket are included as are bolts for through bolting it to a workbench. The vise does not rotate 360 degrees, so before you lock it down, rotate it clockwise and counterclockwise to decide where you want the work area to be. The last two pics show the vice rotated in both directions. Very pleased with the product. ... show more

  • A decent priced vice
I have been looking for a decent vice for a long time. I missed the opportunity to get the one from my father's shop years ago, so this vice seemed like a useable substitute. The vice comes with a clamp-on plate for non-permanent installation, or you can just use the other supplied bolts and bolt it down directly. I tried the clamp and it was ok for light jobs, but I wouldn't try anything more difficult without bolting it down. The screw works smoothly, but the jaw bar is slightly loose in the vice so after you tighten it up, it can bind when you loosen it. Not the worst problem, but as the vice wears over the years, I suspect this will get worse. The jaws themselves seem to work fine at holding objects. If you have it clamped on you can expect it to shift as you tighten it. Overall, it is a useable vice. I wouldn't hammer on it regardless of what the description of "heavy duty" imparts on you. ... show more
