Description

The Heater Sports(r) Xtender 30 home batting cage features steel-tube side supports to give the frame durability and maximum swinging area for the player. The middle arch of the frame is constructed with a flexible fiberglass rod, which allows the cage to flex in the wind without bending or breaking. Its extra-strength 1" polypropylene netting is so small that it doubles as a golf cage, allowing you to practice your golf swing too.

  • Terrible directions, but worth the effort
The cage itself has worked great. Installation was a problem. I live in New England where there are a lot of big rocks underground. The support spikes took a long time to get into the ground and bent around the rocks so I don’t know if I would ever be able to reuse them in a different part of the yard. They give you a lot of electrical tape to hold the poles together. To hold everything together, you need to use almost all of it. The directions say to set up the opening for the pitching machine so the connectors are to the bottom and left but it does not tell you if that is from inside the cage looking out or outside looking in. For the record, it is left and bottom from outside the cage. The entire netting was put on and tied before the pitching machine (purchased separately) arrived. The ropes provided are longer than needed, but that isn’t known until you finish and have to untie and tighten all of the ropes. That took a very long time. Taking it down is pretty simple. It just pops off and I lay it down during bad weather. It has rained a ton since purchasing and I haven’t had any problems. It took three people (two adults and a fifteen year old) roughly four hours to put together and start using. If the directions were better, it would have been done in about an hour. UPDATE: less than one month of use, a pole snapped. I will be contacting the company. There is no reason for this. Update: the company was very fast to reply and send out a replacement pole. The cage is back up and usable. ... show more

  • Mixed review
So, on one hand this seems to be a great net. I love how tall it is. The height is great. But it's just unrealistic to think you only need 1 unless your kid is t-ball still. You HAVE to order 2 of these otherwise it's just to small.

  • Only lasted about 4 weeks!
Grandkids were pretty excited to help G/Pa set this batting cage assortment up. G/Kids are 7 yr, & 12 yr old. Sadly, after only about 6 weeks one of the carbon/fiberglass support poles "snapped"! Not a happy experience. Not sure what to do about it. It takes up a lot of space to just sit there unusable ... Any recommendations? ... show more

  • So glad I bought this
We bought this for my son for his birthday an we love it!! It was pretty easy to assemble, took about 3 hours. Holds up so good!

  • great for residential backyards!
Very flimsy. Blows over in any rain storm, and will need to be readjusted for next use. You must only use "lite" pitching machine balls. Regular baseballs or jug balls will travel through the netting (the actual posts that hold the net up are similar to those cheap poles we all used to use when putting up a tent). Overall, I do recommend for your typical residential backyard. But it is difficult to put up and take down. So make sure you are comfortable with either leaving it up year round (I'm in chicago, so it's pretty brutal weather). or plan on spending a day with a friend setting it up correctly. ... show more

  • Batter Up!
I purchased this product with a pitching machine. It has some product flaws in the setup in the anchors but overall a good product. I live in Ohio and a few thunderstorms have taken a toll on the anchors. A redesign of the anchors to make them more durable would be good but it is worth the price I paid. Definately not designed for windy areas. ... show more

  • WASTE of money-GARBAGE
Please do NOT order this batting cage. Save yourself lots of money, frustration, and time. We spent half of a day assembling this product and we followed the directions to the letter. Two weeks after it was put together 6 of the poles snapped. Cole from Heater's "customer service" was beyond rude to my husband and to me. He was condescending and made us feel like we did something wrong. This is not acceptable. The cage was a gift for my son's birthday in February so we waited for the weather to clear before we put it together. Therefore, we were outside of our 30 days to get our money back. We eventually had to get replacement poles. They sent us the wrong poles. When we finally got the correct poles we added PVC piping for re-enforcement. The poles provided are not strong enough to handle even a light rain. Well, the new poles lasted 2 days. This product is clearly not designed to be outside as it can't even withstand a standard rain. Now we are out even more money to try to make this piece of garbage work AND my son doesn't get to use his birthday present. I repeat DO NOT buy this product. Find a product that can truly be outside and uses materials that are sturdy. Also, go with a company that doesn't make up excuses and blames the consumer. I would have rated this with zero stars, but it is not an option ... show more

  • Zero stars. Would not buy again.
Was purchased in February, by mid-June one of the poles had snapped. Based on the amount of effort that went in to making sure it was assembled properly and the cost of the cage, you would think it would last longer than four months. Extremely disappointing. Zero stars.
