This is a like-for-like replacement for my Masterbuilt Gravity Fed 1050. Unlike others, mine came with a bottom so I didn't have to cut and weld the steel bottom from my old one. Build quality appears to be the same. Not any better or worse. I imagine that this will work for several years and rust out and will need to be replaced. Regarding performance, I couldn't tell any difference. Only used it for smoking so far. Haven't done any high heat searing/grilling yet but i can't imagine any performance degradation.

Don't waste your money. 1st, it is not complete. It doesn't have a bottom so there is no way to mount it. Then it was too narrow on the smoke discharge end. I needed it urgently so I spent 2 hours jury rigging it so I can cook. I had to cut the bottom off my old one which is nearly rusted out. Then I had to drill 2 holes to screw hood to the bottom. Then I had to cut the side of the inlet so it would fit over the smoke discharge. I could have had a fabricator build one that would work for this $$
