Forget Gaming Headsets – Sennheiser HD 490 PRO Plus is the Ultimate Audiophile Choice for PC Gaming!
Style: HD 490 PRO Plus
've been a dedicated PC gamer for years, and I've gone through my fair share of "gaming headsets" – you know, the ones with RGB lights, virtual surround gimmicks, and boomy bass that muddies everything up. But recently, I made the switch to the Sennheiser HD 490 PRO Plus paired with a Schiit GUNNR DAC/amp and an Antlion USB+ microphone, and wow – this setup has completely transformed my gaming experience. Forget gaming headsets; this is a true audiophile headset that delivers immersion like nothing else! First off, the build quality and comfort are outstanding. These are lightweight open-back headphones (just 260g without cable) with incredibly ergonomic design – no pressure points, natural ventilation, and the most comfortable fit I've ever had for long sessions. I can game for hours without any fatigue, hot ears, or clamp pain. The Plus version comes with two sets of washable earpads (producing and mixing), an extra long cable, additional headband padding, and a sturdy carry case – everything feels premium and built to last. Sound-wise, paired with the Schiit GUNNR (which provides plenty of clean power and those awesome Width/Presence controls for soundstage tweaking), these headphones are a revelation for gaming. The open-back design creates an incredibly wide, natural soundstage – footsteps, gunfire, environmental cues, and directional audio are pinpoint accurate. I hear details I've never noticed before in games like FPS titles or open-world adventures. The imaging is razor-sharp, making competitive play feel unfair (in a good way!). Bass is tight and defined (thanks to that innovative low-frequency system), mids are clear and natural for voices/dialogue, and highs are detailed without being harsh. The neutrality and clarity make everything feel realistic and immersive – explosions have impact without overwhelming, and subtle sounds cut through perfectly. Adding the Antlion mic separately means crystal-clear comms without compromising audio quality. If you're serious about PC gaming audio and tired of compromised "gaming" headsets, do yourself a favor and go for the Sennheiser HD 490 PRO Plus with a proper DAC/amp setup. It's more expensive upfront, but the leap in quality is night and day. This is endgame-level gaming audio – highly recommended! 5 stars without hesitation. 🚀 ... show more

Best gaming headphones out there
Style: HD 490 PRO Plus
I use these at my computer for gaming and they rock. I can hear every little sound and can tell the precise direction as long as the game has good audio. They feel kinda cheap since they are so light but you can tell the materials are quality. They are very conformable since so light. I found the clamping pressure a bit to be too high but after some light bending it's perfect now. The adjustment mechanism works well and stays in place after taking them off and putting them back on multiple times. They are pricy but they are well worth the money. Personally I think they look great. ... show more

My endgame headphones
Style: HD 490 PRO Plus
I have been through a variety of headphones from Bose to Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro to Fiios etc. You can't really compare open and closed back headphones because they really do serve different purposes but if I had to pick one headphone to have for the rest of my life it would be these HD 490 Pros. The bass booms nicely but doesn't sound like a subwoofer, the lightest yet highest quality headphones I've ever owned, and they are truly the most comfortable I've ever had. I thought the Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro were comfortable but they don't hold a candle to these. Gaming 10/10 Music 10/10 I listen to a lot of electronic, rock, hiphop etc and they sound good for all of them but especially shine with electronic. ... show more

Very comfortable and great sound quality
Style: HD 490 PRO Plus
These are very comfortable, and I'm picky with headphones. The fold-up design also makes it ease to take them along when traveling.

best I have used

I've had the HD 490 PRO Plus for a couple of weeks and I really like them. I paired them with a Fosi Audio ZH3 DAC Headphone Amp which also is great. The headphones are very light and comfortable but a little small for my apparently giant head. I removed the head padding and put a Flex Fabric Headband Cover along with a piece of velcro underneath To cover any exposed wires. This was enough to let them sit comfortably on my giant head. This is not a knock at Sennheiser, most headsets do not fit me. Being able to modify these to work was a plus. The ability to connect the cable to either headphone side is a great feature. Also, ordered a balanced cable from Sennheiser and received it quickly. I am not qualified to give a detailed opinion on the sound quality but compared to my other headsets they are the best I have used. ... show more

Sounds incredible
Style: HD 490 PRO Plus
First impressions, the head clamp is noticeably tighter compared to the beyerdynamic DT 990 Pro, but not to the point where it feels uncomfortable. The included earpads are miles more comfortable to me on the 490 pro plus. The build quality is sturdy, and insanely light. I almost thought I received the wrong headphones after feeling how light these are. As for the sound, listening to anything really, you can clearly hear each and every detail. If you've tried on or own the dt 990 pro, imagine if each detail became clearer and more upfront with slightly less bass.. that's pretty much what these feel like. Now, I got these to go with the GOXLR mini for gaming and wow.. the imaging on these headphones are in an entire different league compared to the dt 990 pros. It feels almost like a cheat to be able to clearly tell where enemies are coming from. I mainly play Valorant, and these are a game changer for sure. Coming from the SIMGOT Supermix 4, and EM6L, these are definitely an upgrade, but maybe not worth 3 times as much. If you're going for a better IEM-like sound but on open-back headphones, these are worth it. ... show more

Build quality it meh, sound quality is amazing!
Style: HD 490 PRO Plus
Man these sound awesome and they are super comfortable. You do need a dac or a driver to run these but they are awesome! I also play FPS games such as COD, Rainbow six siege, and Apex and these do offer the ability of directional audio... kinda. Sometimes I had a hard time telling between up and down steps. However, when these come to music man!!!!! It's like listening to your favorite songs for the 1st time all over again! The only reason why I am giving these 3 stars is because the build the quality sucks on these! After 6 months of use the hinges that holds the cups detaches. It's very simple to get them back on it's just for the money you are paying for these it should not be cheap plastic the holds these things together. Every time I pick these up I have to be very careful to make sure I don't grab them to aggressively the cups detach. I wish they were built stronger or more durable, especially for the price point. ... show more
