This is a typical 40+5MFD dual capacitor for AC outside unit. The quality seems to be good and it is tested within specification. The AC capacitor is one of the most common summer issue with AC not functioning properly where the homeowners can easily do themselves. The only challenge physically is to take off the cover plate where the device is located at the outside unit. A bad capacitor often bulges but half of them do not have physical signs. A multimeter that can measure capacitance is necessary. This dual capacitor is reasonably priced.

This small device is very important for the operation of your HVAC unit. This is for your compressor and out door fan motor. Without this the unit will not operate properly. This one is for a compressor that requires 40mfd and a fan that requires 5mfd. 440 vac. Operating temperature -40c to 70c . Easy installation, first remove power and open unit to find capacitor. Remove wires and replace wires on new capacitor in the corresponding locations. Close the electrical door and turn power back on. Watch to see how fast it starts up without a lag. It is a great price for comfort. I'm testing it this summer to see how well it holds it's capacitance. Made of a metal metallic outer casing that will prevent it from being punctured or exploding on hot summer days.

This is a combo run capacitor which connects to both the fan motor and compressor in the outdoor HVAC unit. It seems to be well constructed and the capacitance ratings in microfarads and voltage are clearly marked. It has three terminals on it with multiple connection points on each terminal. Terminals are labeled “C”(common) “Herm”(compressor) and “Fan”(fan motor). A good rule of thumb to remember if you are unable to see the markings is that usually the terminal that has the most connection points will be the “Common”— the terminal with the next most connection points will be the “Herm” and the last terminal with the least connection points will be the “Fan”.
