  • A review and tip for beginners from a fellow beginner
Color: Key of C
Before I tell you about the harmonica I have to tell you a short story. You might think it's about a different instrument at first, but trust me you'll understand the point I'm making. About a year ago I decided to learn music and the kalimba was my choice because it's easy to learn (hard to master). I bought myself a $15 kalimba. After a couple of days of practice I just gave up because it sounded like garbage and the keys weren't adjusted properly so it was constantly going out of tune. Fast forward to this years lockdown and I decided to try kalimba again to pass time. This time I got a high quality kalimba for $55. The difference was like night and day. My new kalimba sounds so good that I love practicing with it every days. It looks good and feels good too. So why am I telling you about a kalimba? Because I had committed the exact same mistake with harmonicas a couple of years before that. So the lesson I learned, that took two mistakes, is that I will never again just buy a cheap instrument for the sake of cheapness. Do yourself a favor and heed this lesson. Get a good instrument and enjoy it. Skip the frustration I went through. I had purchased a $10 harmonica. It wasn't tuned well and I had such a hard time learning to draw a single note that I just gave up after a few day. So while thinking about how much time I wasted by buying a cheap kalimba I decided to try harmonica again. Only this time I spent a couple of days doing research. Enter the Harmo Polar. This is like dejavu with my good kalimba. It sounded so good on 1st try that I knew I'll be enjoying practicing with it for many years. Better yet after about 30 minutes of trying I could constantly draw a single note. I pulled my old cheap harmonica out again to see if I could draw with it. Nope. The other thing about it is it looks really good in black and white. I really like this color scheme and font of the lettering. And best of all it is tuned properly. I included a bunch of photos for you to see all of the package contents. I also took pics of both sides of the instruction booklet. You can zoom in a bit to read it. The beginner advice is very well written and easy to understand. It is very helpful for newbies. The harmonica comes with a rigid case and a microfiber cleaning cloth. As far as the harmonica itself, it has a nice weight to it. It feels like a musical instrument instead of a toy like my 1st harmonica. At first I thought the white sections were plastic, but as I handle it I believe it's metal with white a PVD coating. In any case the harmonica feels solid and durable. I also really like that it uses Philips screws instead of pins. If I ever need to take it apart for cleaning it will be easy. One small negative thing I'll mention is the logo. If you look at the pics there is polar on the top and harmo on the bottom. That bottom logo was completely gone within 2 hours of Bentley handling the harmonica. I'm not going to lie to you though. I don't miss that bottom logo. I would be bummed if the top polar logo wiped off. I think it looks good on the white and I like the font. It seems that the top logo is black PVD while the bottom is just printed on. My advice to Harmo would be just to skip that bottom logo altogether. They already have harmo written in white on black on the from. That one is nice looking. That bottom logo just isn't necessary. I'm kind of glad it's gone, but I just want to mention it because it might tick some people off. If you guys and gals haven't already figured it out I'm absolutely thrilled with this harmonica. At some point I want to get their harmonic minor harmonica in A to go with my middle eastern tunes kalimba (I have 3 beautiful kalimba's now). I'll loop rhythm on kalimba and play melody on harmonica when I get better with it. Bottom line is that this harmonic is a joy and I look forward to playing it every day. This harmonica is an easy recommend and if it's any indication of how good all of their instruments are I'll be getting more in the future. • Great harp
Color: Key of C
I've only just received this harmonica, but so far, I'm very impressed with it. It has a comfortable heft, which is important for controlling the harp when playing at faster speeds. The shape is pleasing, comfortable in the hand, and ergonomic on the lips. Most impressive, however, is the smooth response of the reeds and the fantastic tone. It plays butter-smooth, rich in tone and perhaps the easiest-playing harp I've ever played. The tone is less bright than Lee Oscar, slightly more mellow, but with similar volume. It has a distinct tone, but is perhaps closest to Hohner Special 20, though by no means exactly the same. The case it comes with is very nice, although I have some reservations about the longevity of the zipper. The white color is interesting, very smooth, but I have no idea how long it will last. There are also four small gaps in the front cover plate corners, potentially a mustache grabber. That being said, I've had no trouble with it so far. I'd also see replacement reed sets, as no harp reed lives forever. These are minor observations rather than criticism at this point. Overall the smoothness and responsiveness of this harp is incredible at this price point. I'm very pleased and will be anxious to get more keys and try out the Polar Torpedo. Highly recommended. Edit- Nearly three years after receiving the instrument it disappeared on me. Despite a huge range of harps in this price range, I went with the Harmo Polar again. It lasted well, and is still one of the smoother harmonicas I've played. ... show more

  • Not a Bad Harp, Just not Great
Color: Key of C
This harmonica is the 6th C harp I've bought, and I'm a little disappointed. The fact that it doesn't have engraved numbers over the wholes is a little inconvenient for learning students. Tones are similar to my Swan and Fender, but nowhere near as clear as my Crossover, Lee Oscar, or even the EastTop008. ... show more

  • Loving my first Polar
Color: Key of C
I am not a professional player but i have several harmonicas that i enjoy playing, that are airtight and easy to bend on. Some of the sets of harmonicas i own are Dabell Nobels, Knongsheng Mars, Lee Oskars, Hohner Special 20', Turbo harps and Hohner Golden Melodies. I would recommend any these as they are airtight and bend easily out of the box. I was itching to try something new and I was debating between the aluminum combed Kongsheng Solist or the Harmo Polar which i had been eyeballing for sometime. So i decided to go with them for now and get the other at a later time. So I bought a C to try and if i didnt like it i would clean it and give it to someone interested in learning to play. I received it to day and must say i am impressed. its beautiful and solid feeling. Out of the box it bent easily and had a beautiful bright sound. This is extremely airtight and easy to blow and for the low cost a great harmonica to consider. I will probably buy more down the road to make a set. I would recommend you try one yourself ... show more

  • As advertised.
Color: Key of D
The harmonica is great. Well built , in tune and easy to play. It also came with a nice zippered case. I’m pleased with the product and I’ll get a few more.
