Experimenting with the grind size will help you find the perfect balance for your taste.

  • Just get it, it’s so easy.
Color: Black
The media could not be loaded. So I’ve bought a few different types of cold brew bottles/pitchers/jars. This one is my favorite! It’s so easy to clean, the fine mesh is top notch and makes a flawless easy clean & steep. I’ve used it multiple times, make sure to fill half the steeper so the coffee grounds can expand in the water. I’ve left it for a few hours and over 30 hours. The steeper is super easy to remove and the bottle is great to use after. One of my favorite things is that once you put the cap on, it’s basically suctioned and air tight. I’ve tried removing the whole top off with the cap in and it’s such a struggle. When the cap is removed, the whole top comes off so easily. It dries nicely, so far no tear in the mesh even with tension and light pressing. I’ll probably buy another one just as back up cause I love it so much. It’s aesthetically pleasing, easy to clean, easy to use, and honestly will never go back to metal or bag mesh cold brew makers. ... show more

  • Makes a good cup
Color: Mocha
I got tired of paying for, and having to online shop for, Nespresso pods every month. I had tried making my own cold brew coffee at home several years ago but it didn't work out, both because of the apparatus I chose and my rather limited palate for coffee at the time. I thought a combination of this simpler brewer and a broader appreciation for coffee would help me find more success this time. It has! This thing is good looking with a small profile. I like how you can control the strength of the coffee by allowing it to steep for longer, unlike my previous apparatus that was a "press the button and you get what you get" kind of thing. The thing I LOVE about this is the filter! It is incredibly fine, more like a membrane that a filter, so I had absolutely no residual coffee grind escape. I was able to use fine ground coffee (usually a no-no for cold coffee brewers) with literally 0 hassle. It makes as good a cup of coffee as you like, depending on what sort of beans you put in there . ... show more

  • Pretty decent iced coffee
Color: Brown
Despite having a problem with the shipping, I give this item 4 stars overall. Making homemade iced coffee with this “cold brew wine bottle” will save me money in the long run …. less trips to the local coffee chain! This is easy to use and easy to clean and I give the taste a good score. The shipping saga: it was lost in shipping, then found after a few days and rerouted to me, only to have it delivered completely shattered with shards of glass coming through the box. Amazon made good on this, however, and told me I didn’t have to return it (in essence a box of broken glass). They replaced the broken cold brew bottle and I received the new one in 2 days all in one piece. Have been using it now for a week. ... show more

  • Beautiful, well-made, and makes great coffee. But not fun to clean.
Color: Mocha
I picked this up because I like Hario's products, and had been making cold brew in a clunky way with a mason jar. The QA and attention to detail are great, and everything fits together nicely. It's easy to handle and definitely an appealing thing to use first thing in the morning. With little effort, you get good quality cold brew and good presentation. It's great that all the components are dishwasher-compatible, but the process of deconstructing the assembly and extracting the grounds is messy. Typically, the steeping element will detach from the bottle top when you remove the top itself, leaving it rolling around in the glass carafe. Then you need to fish that out, and try to get the grounds out of it. The narrow shape of the steeping chamber means the grounds take some persuasion, and I can see eventually damaging the nice (but lightweight) plastic parts while tapping out grounds. ... show more

  • Almost no problems in daily use and the coffee is excellent.
Color: Mocha
In two years, I have used this coffee maker almost daily during hot weather. Following a couple of incidents, I discovered that with a little care in easing the lid off the carafe, the basket does not pop out and the lid stays on the filter, and I have not had anything like that happen since the early days. Here's how I use it: 1. The night before I coarse-grind and weigh 70 (± 5) grams of coffee as specified in the instructions. Sometimes this fills the filter to the top, sometimes not (apparently different varieties of coffee beans are not equally dense). Then I put the coffee maker together and add 700 ml of water (actually more, probably, since I know about where the level is, and now I just pour by eye till the water is above the bottom of the lid). 2. I start the mix by tilting the bottle 90 degrees and back 8-12 times -- it never leaks -- and popping it into the refrigerator for 8-12 hours. 3. I pop the top off the pour spout and drop in the contents of one packet of artificial sweetener (I don't use very much), replace the top and repeat the same mixing procedure as before. 4. I then half-fill a large glass from the carafe. 5. I ease the lid off the carafe and gently lift it and the basket out of the liquid, remove the lid from the basket, and squeeze the bars of the basket to drip more liquid into the carafe; then I place the basket into a bowl to catch more of the fluid. 6. I add water to the half-glass of concentrated coffee to fill it, and I add enough water to double the level of liquid in the carafe. Then I put the lid back on the carafe and place it in the fridge. I can now just pour out glasses of cold-brew coffee at will straight from the carafe throughout the day, and I also have a glass of coffee already poured and diluted. 7. At the end of the day I rinse everything in hot water, sometimes adding a little dishwashing liquid and using a brush. The only problem I have is that I don't have a garbage disposal and can't tolerate getting coffee grounds in the drain, so after I dump the basket, I take it outside for a three-second rinse under the hose. This is not convenient, of course, but in the absence of a disposable filter paper (not an option for cold brewers) I have no choice. -- All in all I find this cold-brewer to be an excellent way to brew a day's worth of coffee, as long as I remember the night before to set it up. ... show more
