Description

"This book will change your life if you let it." -Tom Bilyeu, Co-Founder/CEO of Impact Theory & Co-Founder of Quest Nutrition We are losing ourselves. We're chasing the wrong things, asking the wrong questions, and polluting our minds. It's time to stop, it's time to resist and it's time to rethink the fundamental social blueprint that our lives are built upon. As an 18-year-old, black, broke, lonely, insecure, university drop-out, from a bankrupt family, I wrote in my diary that I wanted to be a 'Happy Sexy Millionaire' by the age of 25. By 25 I was a multi-millionaire having created a business worth over $300m dollars. Ironically, in achieving everything I set out to, I learnt that I was wrong about almost everything... The world had lied to me. It lied to me about how you attain fulfillment, love and success, why those things matter, and what those words actually mean. In this book, I'll dismantle the most popular, unaddressed lies about happiness that we've been led to believe. I'll expose the source of these lies, examine the incentives that fuel them and replace them with a practical set of scientifically proven and unconventional ideas that will help you to live a truly fulfilled life, a life full of the love you seek and the success you deserve. • The egotism becomes tiring and uninsightful
I really wanted to like this book, but any uplifting or inspirational point Steven tries to make is overshadowed by self-important bragging about the success of his company. Seriously, multiple times per chapter he mentions the amount his company is valued at and the number of people he employs. I thought it was strange that it was mentioned so frequently in the beginning, but I’m 150 pages in and he continues to drone on in a way that acts like he’s trying to be humble but it’s annoying. I’m happy that he’s successful but I’ve read hundreds of books by people just as successful who actually provide value and insight through their writing rather than using it as a platform to boast. Would not recommend. ... show more

  • Extreme Amount of Profanity!
I am not a prude but the amount of profanity is ridiculous. Open to any page and the F word is used numerous times. It is written so arrogantly as well. I enjoyed his Ted Talks and some blogs but this book is awful.

  • Unfiltered -Steven Bartlett
I just finished Steven’s book and I have tears in my eyes. I did not want it to end. I spent the last 2 days reading it and I’m overwhelmed in a good way with everything Steven shared with us, his approach and honesty to understand and find our own fulfillment, love and success. Either if you think you already have it all or you have questions, I definitely encourage you to read this book. It is more than just a book, as Steven calls it “ it’s his intervention “ with so many valuable lessons to take away. Merci Steven 🙏🏼you are a remarkable person with many great skills! ... show more

  • Stop delaying - READ THIS BOOK
This book is hard to describe. I’d say it’s a combination of self help and existential philosophy while providing commentary on our current society’s culture. Before I go any further, you should absolutely buy this book. But I feel like this book should come with a disclaimer along the lines of “eye opening, philosophical journey contemplating existential questions”. This book will draw you in and keep you wanting more. At least every other page I found myself saying YES. Full disclosure - I’m only 100 pages in. The book title can be misleading to those that haven’t listened to Steven’s podcast, but I can assure you this is not your typical self help book. Like I said, hard to describe. This is the anti-hustle porn book. Although, if you found yourself reading this review and searching for hustle-porn books, you need to read this book. I can’t wait to finish this book. Steven, if you’re reading this, I applaud you for bringing this book to us. Changing our societally mindset is likely impossible but I do hope you continue to challenge the status quo and give all of us hope for positively changing our own lives and the lives of those around us. I want to buy this book for everyone I know. Some of my friends and family probably need to be beaten over the head a few times with this. In case I haven’t made it clear - You need to read this book. But fair warning, it will open your mind and that will likely be uncomfortable. I think perhaps a more appropriate title could have been “inconvenient truths - what do we do now?”. Like his advertisement says “this is my intervention”. Fitting. Thank you Steven, well done! ... show more

  • Changed my review, tons of wisdom
For a 29 year old, this man is a genius. I was not happy because after the first chapter I decided this was a bs self help book, which of course, like all the rest tries to solve the problem of being satisfied with not being yet successful. There are tons of nuggets of wisdom like “just find your passion is a simple solution to a complex problem is bs,” “sometimes rejection of society’s expectations is where you find happiness,” and “striving is stability and satisfaction.” Hes successful, an alpha male, atheist by choice raised by two Christian parents, and has tons of perspectives from people he’s worked and interacted with as a social media icon. Removing the hate here, honestly I always hated myself even more after every milestone, hope if I get some of this grateful pie I finally cash in on my millions, ironically speaking. Or finally meet my love FML ... show more

  • Can’t put the book down! Hooked on every word
My copy arrived yesterday and I have not been able to put this book down! The book is so well thought out and it’s clear Steven put everything in to it. Does anyone else read it with his voice in their head? 10/10 would recommend to any budding entrepreneur or anyone who has big goals and ambitions in life. This is the perfect insight from somebody who has done it all! Oh and if you read it too quickly, his podcast Diary of a CEO is amazing too. ... show more

  • First book I’ve actually finished in YEARS
I grew up an avid reader. Nothing could get between me and my books. Lately, though, I’d fallen out of the habit entirely. I’ve picked up heaps of books the last while, and not one of them did I actually finish. I couldn’t tell you the last time I read a book cover to cover (seeing as it’s been at least 6 years) and that held true until this week. Steven’s book showed up at my doorstep and my goal of finally finishing another book was complete. I was completely captivated and found every excuse to NOT put it down. Within just a few hours I’d accomplished my goal of finally finishing another book. And not only that, the info contained inside was perspective shattering. Absolutely buy this book! The words and messages within its pages will benefit you for years to come. ... show more

  • Entertaining and Eye-Opening. Phenomenal book.
I’ve been following Steven on social media for some time now and he’s always posted relevant and inspiring content. I couldn’t wait to pre-order this book, but also part of me wasn’t sure how useful it would be since there are so many books on fulfillment these days. This book surpassed all expectations! Its not simply the information put forth, but the delivery of the content that makes it so easy to read but also so profound. Phenomenal read. Finished in a few days and now re-reading. If you’ve gotten this far, I’d suggest ordering this asap! ... show more
