The twelve year old girl that created four of the necklaces and bracelets using this jewelry making craft kit, was challenged getting the designs to come out like she wanted. She practiced persistence. In the end she was absolutely delighted with the creations and herself. The colors of the clay are invitingly soft pastels. The beads and other accents were far better than we expected from a child’s toy. She was able to use the oven by herself to harden the clay. She felt important during that part of the process. Having something to show at the end of the day of constructive playing is rewarding. This was a perfect activity for a twelve year old, but younger children that are good with their hands could also do these projects with minimal supervision. ... show more

I got this to do with my 11-year-old granddaughter. We had a great time working on both a necklace and bracelet each. The clay is the perfect texture for molding. It took us a couple of hours, and the conversation was the best part. The end product, after baking, is not likely to hold up all that well when worn, but they do provide a small tube of glue if you should need it.
