  • Pro Auto Tech 20 years, lots to read.
Ok so the wife needed tires for her 2016 Lincoln MKX twin turbo AWD. The first set of tires that came with the car made it 20K. Makes sense as they are high speed rated, and a very soft material for maximum traction. Even though the tread was mostly gone they still were holding up well. Then we decided on these tires. A lot of money was poured into developing these. So that made me feel comfortable with the purchase. Basic fact...they made it the rated mileage. But after that point they fell apart. I mean for real fell apart. Wife called me and said her low pressure tire light was on. Hers is a detailed setup that gives you pressure of all tires. As she’s driving the pressure is lowering. She had also been complaining that something on her car felt weird while driving for a few weeks up to that point. So she drives into our shop that I work at. I started to look at the outside of the tires which all were not to the wear bars yet. So maybe 1-2 32’nds left above the wear bars. Not a lot but some. I’ve kept great alignment and balance on the vehicle and the tires. I go feeling for the leak as I can hear it. Can’t feel it. So I remove both front wheels from the vehicle. Both front tires were separated. The tread was peeling off from the tires. Only on the inside. What was really strange about this was that the tread was still even wear across the tires. There were no camber issues which I know is what a lot of people are going to think. No. The tread was literally peeling off the tire. I pull the rears off. Same thing. This is not normal. Not for any tire. I’ve seen many, many people wear tires down to the cords and still the tread doesn’t peel off the tire. So...again, balanced multiple times, rotated multiple times (every oil change), and multiple alignments..,I have access to all this equipment. And yeah...they were a great tire until the end of their life and then they fell apart. Not a good tire IMO. They were quite, good ride, gripped well but not as good as the factory tires the vehicle came with. I will not be buying this brand again. ... show more
