  • High value, Low cost
I ordered these task cards for three reasons. First, I know a lot about being a digital citizen, but I wanted to know what I didn’t know. In spite of these cards being geared toward 8 to 12 year old children, I figured there was still a good chance that I would learn something. And yes, there was new information for me to learn, or, at least to think about. Second, I like this format of learning activity. With the information presented on individual cards, it is easy to focus, and easy to physically arrange the cards in a way that suits the individual. Third, I have nieces and nephews that I spend a lot of time with. Both the topic of being a digital citizen and the format provide a great opportunity for some fun and valuable activities and games. This set of cards is nicely designed and well made. Even if some of the information is obsolete in a few more years, the cards are well worth it, especially at their price point. For me, having this set of digital citizen task cards is high value and low cost. ... show more

  • Digital Citizenship "Task" Cards - Seem like they would be helpful for homeschooling
I probably misunderstood what I was ordering, so please bear with me. I think the optimal use of these cards would be for home-schooling parents looking for ways to check boxes. If you work through these cards, in a sincere way, with conscientious participation by your children (or other students), yes, they will definitely learn things that will help them, and it will help them out. They will learn some important skills and will probably look at some things a little bit differently. I appreciate the fact that intellectual property rights, attribution, copyrights, and creative commons were covered because it seems as though there are a whole lot of people who do not know about (or care about) such things. ... show more

  • Approachable Digital Citizenship Cards with great information
My elementary school-aged kids have Digital Citizenship lessons in school, but I wanted to augment what they're learning at home, so I grabbed these cards. Not only do they provide great information, similar to the school lessons, but they're engaging with wonderful and fun activities for both the kids and me to do together. Some of the tasks might be too difficult for younger kids (such as remixing a song and flagging the areas that should be credited to the original artist), but those are great for engaging older kids, and there's plenty of overlap in information taught to allow for picking and choosing which lessons you think will apply best to your kids based on interests and age without having to worry they'll miss something. The cards are held together with a basic ring, but it's hard to get open, so while it's a pain to get the cards onto the ring at first, there's no chance they'll come off on their own. The cards are well-printed and difficult to rip or damage, and the verbiage used is easy to understand for all age groups. These are truly a must for helping kids understand how to protect themselves and respect others while using digital sources and content. Great set! ... show more

  • Just what I was looking for without realizing it.
I like how the cards use examples youth can relate to, such as thinking of your favorite song or cartoon character. Each card provides enough information to get the lesson across. It helps with engagement instead of the activities becoming a long drawn-out lesson. The pictures provided are true to how the cards arrived. The ring to hold the cards isn't flimsy. I don't foresee the cards falling off the ring. Also, the cards are laminated with some thickness to it. They will tear when done so deliberately, but shouldn't tear with a turn of the page. ... show more

  • Great online safety tool for kids
As my children gain more access to the internet, I recognize the responsibility that comes with it—some of which I can't personally oversee, even if I'm hypervigilant. I ordered these cards as a way to introduce online safety and respectful behavior, and these cards excel at breaking down complex concepts into age-appropriate tasks. They introduce topics I'm not sure I would have ever considered if I was left to my own devices. I agree these would be best for the 8-12 year old crowd - I can see my young teens thinking that some of the activities are too basic. ... show more

  • Disappointing!
I might be the outlier here, but I think that these digital citizenship cards failed big time. I was expecting them to cover many topics, like spam, talking to strangers online, protecting your personal information, not sharing your name, etc. It covered none of that. The cards only focused ad nauseum on copyrights especially for music and one card on clickbait. Total waste. There are likely 50 topics including charging your devices and this company picked out 2 topics. Basically, this product (yes, laminated well, ring to hold them, etc.) was to be an INFORMATION product for a parent to help kids with or kids to help themselves. I bet you can find information on the Internet to be superior. Save your money. ... show more

  • Important Information
This is an important topic to discuss at school or in the home. These cards offer a great starting point to kick off a conversation about digital citizenship and internet safety. If you purchased the similar set offered by this company for younger kids, then the format is comparable for these cards. It has definitions of some terms and it tries to connect ideas to real life situations that kids have encountered on-line. Like the other set, I feel like some of the assignments or vocabulary words could be too difficult for the targeted age group, so more teacher help might be required. Overall, I like these cards. It would be fairly easy to just google this type of stuff, but at the same time, it's nice to have it laid out to save the work/time. We homeschool, and this is just another educational tool that we use. Almost all kids are on the Internet for some reason or another now, so it is really important to start these discussions as early as possible. Just keep in mind, this is just some heavy stock paper cards on a metal ring, so nothing fancy. I look at reviews a lot while shopping. I hope this review helps! ... show more
