This was a christmas gift for my 10 yr daughter. She has played with the little $20 pocket RC cars but they are limited to smooth surfaces only. They get boring on the driveway bc they are so small. I had nitro powered stadium trucks back in the day and wanted something she can run around the yard. This thing rips! I am amazed at how much performance they pack in compared to what it used to cost me years ago. The most important factors to me: 1. AWD - offroad / yard capable 2. Sturdy drivetrain - metal axles all the way throughout 3. Durable - suspension is adjustable and forgiving 4. Speed adjustable - I can turn it down for her to learn without crashing or getting frustrated 5. Repairable - spare parts are available I spent a lot of time looking at options and landed on this based on it meeting all of the factors I was looking for and it was the lowest cost option to boot. It has a very stable stance and is easy to control. I also like the larger scale size to make it go through the yard better. She has learned to drive it very quickly and has already been turning the speed up. I know there are faster machines but this is a fantastic starter with 2 batteries and remote included. She has been out running it most days the weather is decent. She has given it a name and takes care of the batteries herself. I was preparing myself to buy a traxxas and couldn't be happier with this as a starter. If you are in a similar situation, buy this one and have a blast with it. You can spend more on a nicer unit when you decide this is going to be a more serious hobby and some of the crashing/learning is behind you.

The only thing I don't like about this rc is the paint job, so I'll be repainting it in metallic rust orange (primer to clear coat). It handles great, takes a beating and has plentiful power with the 2s it comes with. Awesome with a 3s. The remote is comfortable and very easy to use. I'm worried about the square roof, so will be reinforcing that inside with heavy duty duct tape. I heard that it has a chance of cracking right away if it lands directly on the roof. So, the precaution: If you're like me and have attached enough wheelie bars that you don't bother looking at the instructions, anymore... DO IT. (With a 3s, you will definitely need the wheelie.) When I removed the base plate, I found out that the wheel supports are attached directly to it with rods. OK, fine. That was easy to figure out. I got the wheelie bar on with everything attached properly and was double checking for balance when I noticed something missing. Both axle rods on either side had fallen into my lap. D'oh! So, I had to remove everything to get them back in. It can only be done when the supports are up loose, so it was a bit tricky but really only took a couple minutes. Overall, this beast gets 5 out of 5 for performance, durability, power and ease of use. It may not be in the Traxxas class range, but it's competition for DeerC and Laegendary.
