  • Are you ready to log back into the world?
Platform: PlayStation 4 Edition: PlayStation 4
The World, an online game here millions play it. Who would think a game could cause so much havoc and the mystery behind it is still an eye-opener. .Hack//G.U. is the sequel to the anime .Hack/Roots where we follow the Player Killer Killer (PKK) named Haseo, on his journey to destroy a mysterious character named Tri-Edge, someone who placed Shino, a dear friend of Haseo, in a coma. When Haseo finally corners Tri-Edge, thanks to information from the player Ovan, he winds up getting Data Drained and that's where we pick up from the game. Haseo will have to discover new teammates/friends and the mysteries behind his avatar along with defeating Tri-Edge but will it be simple? .Hack//G.U. was a trilogy game on the PS2 a decade ago, which I played and always felt fulfilled when beating it. The graphics have improved given it's on the PS4 and all the games are in a single disc, which is good but also bittersweet as I liked waiting for the next game to continue the main story but that's just my nostalgia talking (I probably was more impatient to get it out the way but had to wait a year). There is also a 4th game which concludes the story but I'm playing in order (with no cheats as you won't gain some of the trophies). Lots of reference to the first game series (.Hack/Sign) is present but you don't need to have played those 4 games as it gives you cliff notes. Though I am lucky to have played those as well (and still own them). The game is fun but very long with the story and plenty of quests though it does get tedious. The cheat mode is for if you want to breeze through the story itself but given it's a matter of pride, I choose to just do it the old-fashioned way; grind your characters till they can beat opposing enemies and feel pride that all the hard work paid off. Story, characters, music, and fighting is still awesome. You can also unlock the music you here for fulfilling quota's for Death Grunty (a character you meet in the game), my personal fav is "Carl's theme". I give this an 8.5 out of 10. If you are curious here is the timeline: .Hack/Sign (anime series) begins the series, .Hack (4 games) continues the story with the character Kite and his party figuring out the truth of Aura, Morganna and the network crisis, .Hack/Legend of The Twilight (manga) continues with some new characters playing as the avatars of Kite and Blackrose from the games, then .Hack/Roots (anime series) then .Hack//G.U. to conclude it. There are spin-offs and some more extra stories but those are the ones you wanna know about. Unfortunately the anime of .Hack isn't that good as it has tons of exposition and when .Hack aired in the day it was boring. I grew to appreciate that series later but it is taxing with what you wanna know. I never watched.Hack/Roots. Anyway .Hack//G.U. returns and it's awesome to play. ... show more

  • it was one of my most fun and looked forward to titles on my old PS2
Platform: PlayStation 4 Edition: PlayStation 4
Years ago when I played this game as just a young lad, it was one of my most fun and looked forward to titles on my old PS2. I never thought it would ever get a remaster or updated version after nearly a decade of silence on what Bandai Namco would be doing for .hacks anniversary. But the news came as a surprise and the chance to again own and play through some of my favorite older games came again. If you played G.U. when it was first released you can expect the same titles now with bonus content in the form of a fourth Volume, and enhancements to the original game. The only downside is it's obvious not everything has been updated or really improved since the first release of the trilogy, and the game can be a tad slow and still clunky in some forms. But after a short ramp buildup, it's a very enjoyable and time-intensive series in an otherwise amazing franchise. And one can even hope that this is the prelude to the first quadrilogy getting an update of even greater quality, but for now that remains to be seen. ... show more

  • First Time Player.......This is fun!!!
Platform: PlayStation 4 Edition: PlayStation 4
This is my first time into the .hack// series from Bandai Namco. This is a pretty fun game. For those who don't know me, I do something called Gamers Nation where I play games on Twitch and YouTube, and the moment I started playing this game, my channels got more views. I have fun with this game more than other certain games. The fun part of the game was actually selecting your area world because you get to put three words that you have to select from a list of words you unlock as you play. The words you select will determine what type of world you are going to and sometimes the word combinations can be very funny. I am only on volume one right now, but I am ready for even more of .hack this season on Gamers Nation 2018. Is this game worth your money? I say yes because you. are going to get a bunch of action and there is a bunch of it. You won't get bored with this game. In fact, I would pick this game over Sword Art Online: Lost Song (SAO: LS) ... show more
