  • Surprisingly smoothe, seems durable so far
Color: 32"/80cm
I have used this on about 6 jobs and really like it. My focus is on architectural video and the motion is smooth and exact. It's very responsive. I recommend the product completely.

  • BEWARE: Software or hardware problems and POOR customer service.
Color: 32"/80cm
The media could not be loaded. I've had a string of bad luck with electronics on Amazon lately. This slider looks great and high quality, but failed shortly after I bought it. See the video posted with this review... as soon as I turn the slider on, it starts moving towards the end of the slider until it hits the bumper and continues to try to move. I have to turn it on and off a ton of times in hopes that it will eventually boot up and work correctly, but it rarely does. Sometimes it works ok after I let it reach the bumper then shut the power off after a second. Other times it does this the entire time so I just turn it off and abandon using it for the rest of the video project I'm working on. It is a bit shaky at anything under like 75-80% speed and it isn't too quiet so unless you're using it for b-roll that doesn't require audio or you have external mics, you might want to look elsewhere. For my uses, I only needed it for b-roll so it was more than suitable at work. I paid for this one out of pocket and used it for video projects to make my life easier, but after it started acting up, I had to shelf it. The company I work for ended up purchasing an identical brand new one for me which works properly at the moment, but I'm waiting to see if it does the same thing. I haven't checked the firmware to see if my personal one is different, but that is on my list of things to do next. What makes it worse is that GVM's customer service is atrocious. They initially respond, ask you to send them different forms of evidence for them to investigate, then they ghost you. Do some Googling, apparently this is common practice with them. Wish I would have gone a different route because now I'm out over $330.00. I've been given the run around 10,000 times on getting a replacement and GVM won't respond to the 5-6 e-mails I sent after they quit responding after I sent them photos of the settings and firmware version. When it works, I have no real complaints other than it is a bit shaky, but unfortunately IT RARELY WORKS CORRECTLY AS IT IS. Think I got a lemon, which is unfortunate because I want to like it. It looks great, the materials are high quality, and the app is decent, the thing just doesn't work properly. Buy at your own risk. ... show more

  • Nice, simple slider. Nothing fancy, but gets the job done👍🏼👍🏼
Color: 32"/80cm
The media could not be loaded. Keep it simple stupid… Words to live by in the video world, and GVM does well following this mantra with their slider. This is not the slider to get if you want crazy multi-axis motion controlled moves, but if you wanna add a little extra production value to your interviews and b-roll, this is perfect to get you started. I really appreciate how easy and intuitive it is to set up. It comes with a nice little pamphlet with directions, which seem complicated reading through them, but I just skimmed it and started playing with the slider myself and everything made sense pretty quick. It is realitively lightweight, though if you’re going to use a single tripod for it, I would recommend a heavy duty one considering what kind of camera package you use. It includes a ball head mount, but I added my own fluid head mount to keep things simple, as a ball head mount I find really hard to keep level when making adjustments 🤪 I really like how it uses a Sony NP battery for power. the kit includes a medium-size one and charger, which lasts for multiple hours. I use Sony batteries for my lights and monitors already, so I always have extra ones lying around. The motor on the end of the slider is very light weight, which is nice, but it does feel like you need to be very gentle with it to not break it. The one thing I don’t like about this slider is that you cannot control it without the app on your phone. That being said, you can close out of the app, once you have a move set up and running, and it will keep running until you reconnect to the slider with your phone. Something that's a little odd is in the app it requests that you specify how many times you want the slider to loop. I don’t know how long my interviews are going to take, so I usually just put a ridiculous number of loops, like 700 or 800, and leave it at that🤪 also, in the app it allows you to set multiple key frames, but it will only let you use two at a time, a starting point and ending point. 🤷🏽♂️ Something else to note is that it doesn’t calibrate the slider with built-in endpoints, so as you are moving the slider carriage, it will run into the end and the motor will keep running as long as you tell it to. This can be bad for the drive belt as it can wear down the teeth on it. So just be careful especially if you’re controlling it manually. It comes in a lightweight soft case, but has a decent amount of foam cut outs on the inside for everything to fit into, so I have no problem throwing it into my production van along with my tripods and light stands… just don’t put anything heavy on top of it. This is not my main production slider, but works great for my second shooters, an additional Timelapse slider, and just as a general back up slider. Even though it’s not super versatile, it does the basics really well, and considering, only a few years ago, a slider like this cost well over $1000, this slider is a no brainer! ... show more

  • Worthless for timelapse.
Color: 48"/120cm
There is no way to control slider speed in the time lapse mode. You can enter the start and end positions, and how often you want to shoot. Next you decide how long you want to shoot and the number of shots will be calculated automatically based on how long it takes to travel from start to end and the CONSTANT PRESET speed. Or you can select the number of shots, and the slider decides for how long it will be shooting. ... show more
