I think this is a good light for the price. It's very versatile, and has a lot of customization options. It's big and provides a lot of light. While it is portable, it is a little heavy. The battery's make it a little bulky. But I absolutely love that it came with batteries and a charger for the batteries. That's a big plus. My biggest con with this is the battery life. With two large batteries fully charged, the light has barely lasted me half a day when I used it. If you're at a 4-Hour photo shoot, that's fine, but I can't bring it to events or anything longer than that for fear it will die. Also the battery's take a long time to charge.

This is a fun and versatile light for parties, general use and filmmaking. It’s a high quality build that can be powered by the two included batteries or the included power supply. The kit comes with two plug in battery chargers so that both batteries can be recharged simultaneously.the light can be controlled using the buttons on the back or by using the app. For parties it has a ton of lighting effects. A dj could control it through a lighting board if they chose to. For general home lighting it can be used as white light, from warm to cool temperatures and at different brightness levels. For movie making there are dozens of effects such as lightning, police lights, tv set and many others. As a bonus you can create and save your own effects using the app. As other people have mentioned, the effects can be repetitive but by using the Bluetooth app the effects can be made a bit more random by changing speed, brightness and colors on the fly. It’s as simple as having a gaffer (lighting person) use the powerful app on their phone during takes. To use the app you have to set up a free account using your email and creating a password. Very easy to do and connect. Don’t worry about trying to figure out how to get the app because not only is there a QR code in the paper directions but it’s printed permanently on the power supply making it easy for anyone to get the app. The battery slots on the light have locking buttons, removing any possibility of the battery falling out. The light can be mounted a multitude of different ways. In my pictures I show it mounted on a light stand both vertically and horizontally. The only negative I found is that the power supply plug that goes into the light doesn’t lock in and can fall out of the unit. Not a big deal but I just wanted to note it. Make sure that the wire is secure especially if using on a movie shoot. It would be a bummer to have to retake a shot because of something as simple as the light losing power. In conclusion, this is a wonderful light with a ton of possible uses. Your imagination is the limit.

I have tried using these lights on multiple occasions but ultimately I am just disappointed. I love using wands in my studio work to create saturated RGB looks. These are only 25w and I have to keep them fairly close in the frame if I am using strobes at low power. I also have never been able to get the app to work, which would be exponential when operating these lights. This has been a fairly common issue I have had with the GVM brand. I do have panels and bowens mount lights from them that I love but their app based lights have all been a disappointment. I would honestly pass on purchasing these lights and go for a different brand.

A super awkward light with no internal battery. Having to rely on bulky NPF’s to power it makes it WAY too heavy on one side of the side and awkward to mount/hold. Excellent build quality. If only it had both an internal battery as well as the NPF battery slots.

First off, I love the name (GVM, Great Video Maker). Very appropriate. Second of all, the carrying case is above par (one of the keys to my heart). I own two other light wands. One is from a budget brand I like. It's awesome, and very inexpensive in comparison to the other two. But the body is plastic. And the other one is from a big, known brand. Has more features than this one, but also costs more. I think this guy measures up to them, in price and feature comparison. Has a metal body, pretty heavy duty. The bulb glass/plastic feels fairly durable. Love that it's both battery powered for portability, while also plugging in. Love that there are two chargers for the batteries. Love the battery icon on the display, letting you know the status. Love the effects. I have one gripe about them, but I've had the same gripe in all the lights I've had with effects. The lightning and paparazzi settings are too repetitive. Would like a little more randomness thrown into those modes, to be more realistic. And it's a little on the heavy side. Will need a pretty heavy-duty stand (which my more expensive wand needs, as well). But those are the only gripes I can come up with, and I couldn't deduct a whole star for them, since those gripes exist in other brands and types of lights with effects like this. All in all, this is an amazingly versatile studio and on-the-go lighting option, with a sound carrying case, and looks stylish and professional, with an air of quality emanating throughout. Totally Dig It. Never heard of GVM before, and I'm glad I found this light up for review, or else I might not have known how good they are. Hope to see more from them in the future 👍

I had been using the Nano Tubelights (~ $500 each) but two of them overheated and broke recently. One of the tube lights actually started smoking with risk of starting a fire. Definitely not a product safe to have around so I got rid of them. I purchased a few of these lights which were a bit less expensive. They are great so far! Very bright and having the batteries external to the unit keeps the heat down while also allowing me to flip them out as the batteries drain throughout the day. This is a huge perk when considering I had to either have the more expensive tube lights wired all day or put the lights back on a charging (passthrough charging) cable to continue using them. Definitely recommend these over the industry leader Nano Tube.
