  • Best charger I have put on a boat
Style: ChargePro 10/10/10
Hooked this up at the start of the season and it has been absolutely reliable ever since. All three battery banks come up full overnight and the maintenance mode keeps them topped off without overcharging. The build quality is noticeably better than cheaper chargers I have tried before.

  • Does not cook your batteries Does not cook your batteries
Style: ChargePro 5/5
Got this 5/5 Guest Charger to permanently install on my Malibu boat with dual starting lead acid batteries. I am loyal to Noco Chargers for all my OHV toys but after reading a ton of reviews saying their Noco marine charger destroyed their marine batteries by over charging and making the acid boil out, I started looking elsewhere. I actually picked the Guest 5/5 charger because of it's color (matched my boat) and it also had great reviews. I've owned it two months now and keep it plugged into the shore power 100% of the time when my boat is not in use. So far, so good! No boiling or otherwise damaged batteries. It switches to maintain mode once the batteries are charged, as indicated by small LED lights on the front that show what it's doing to each battery bank. No need to unplug it during storage. I always turn my boat's battery selector to the "off" position before plugging in the charger. The charger leads attach directly to each battery. You have to purchase the correct "bank number" charger that corresponds to how many individual batteries you want to charge on your boat, RV, etc. For the install, I mounted it near the batteries in the same large compartment. Some people say not to mount in in the area where your batteries are but I open the compartment door so air can circulate. I read that the unit could potentially get warm when charging batteries so I bought a piece of 1/8" aluminum from Home Depot and some 3/8" spacers to create a backing plate against the carpet and spacers to allow airflow behind the Guest charger. Simple install, great investment, and no more worries about my batteries going dead while the boat is in storage. ... show more

  • Compact And Easy to Install
Style: ChargePro 10
The Guest 2710A comes pre-wired with ring terminals and a 15amp AC power cord with plug. The unit includes four stainless mounting screws. Installation was super easy and took less than 20 minutes. After powering it up, the unit automatically sensed the type and condition of the battery. Without question it doesn't get any easier than that. I also appreciate the water proof rating as it's installed in a rear compartment that is prone to being damp. It's light weight and takes up very little space. ... show more

  • The ChargePro 2711A is a nice improvement on the 16102 The ChargePro 2711A is a nice improvement on the 16102
Style: ChargePro 5/5
Interestingly, Amazon told me this was the third guest dual bank battery charger that I purchased. It turns out charger life is 9 years. I consider that fantastic. And, where I've used the same model two times, this charge pro is more intelligent than old models. It reinstalled in the old cabling perfectly and instantly indicated two good batteries in my old yacht. One of the best things they've done is make the status lights red, yellow green, like they should be. Green means good. Red means bad. And, flashing red is a problem warning. I never understood the purpose of blue. So with this new model, blue just means you've got incoming AC power and it has nothing to do with the batteries. Nice improvements. ... show more

  • Makes charging Marine batteries easy and convenient Makes charging Marine batteries easy and convenient
Style: 2 Bank
First and foremost, for onboard installations on boats, I'd recommend also purchasing an Inlet Port Charger plug (if your boat doesn't already have one). These inlet ports sit recessed within the fiberglass exterior of the boat, making the installation clean and especially convenient (this does involve drilling a 1.5-2 inch hole for the inlet port). Just run a 3-prong female extension cord directly to the boat and off you go with charging. On my particular boat, I have 2 batteries...one 12V "house" battery for the engine starter and house electronics, and another 12V deep cycle for a trolling motor. The dual bank 4/4 Amp Guest ChargePro was a perfect match for my setup as it charges and maintains both batteries simultaneously. Since the house battery charges when the engine is running, that battery generally stays "topped off" and doesn't typically require much charge time...though the ChargePro does maintain it with a trickle charge between outings. The deep cycle battery gets used more extensively with the trolling motor, and the ChargePro will typically complete a charge cycle overnight on the deep cycle batt. Another great upside to an onboard charger is that it can maintain the batteries long term, over the Winter, to keep the batteries in their optimum state. The battery connectors all have fuses, the unit itself protects from reversed polarity and overcharging. The charger unit seems to be well-built and mostly made of metal. Overall a great option especially if you have more than one 12V battery, highly recommend for marine battery charging. ... show more
