Top Amazon Reviews

  • Great design, top quality build
Color: Speciale-black/Red
THE SHIPPING Order was shipped quickly and delivered within the time expected. THE PACKAGING Packaging was top class: all metal parts individually wrapped and in little labeled boxes inside a larger box, making it easier to identify parts referred in the assemble guide. The seat came bubble wrapped, in a separate box. Overall perfect packing, all arrived in minty condition. ORDER ISSUES AND ASSEMBLE PROCESS EXPERIENCE A few things were different from the pictures featuring here at Amazon: * Seat was all black. Contacted manufacturer and they offered to replace the all black by a black and red as soon as it comes in stock again. * Frame had a different design - Unexpected. * Frame design was different than the one shown in the included assemble guide flyer. This made it hard to figure it out how to assemble the gear shifter and wheel support parts. I emailed the manufacturer about it and they emailed me a PDF with the new 2018 design assembly guide within minutes. Five stars customer service! * Missing two screws to fix seat's side plastic covers. Cosmetic, and the manufacturer quickly mailed me replacement screws within the same week. Again, awesome customer service! Luckily, another Amazon user posted pictures of the 2018 new design on his product review. These user pictures were very helpful on figuring out how to complete the frame’s assemble. Having the assemble guide very short and not very clear, plus receiving a unit with a different design than the one shown in the assemble guide, made the assemble process unnecessarily hard. It took me a total of over 3 hours to get it up and ready to install my steering wheel. That said, now that I know how to set up the 2018 frame, it would take me 45 to 60 min to set up another one, if that much. It is not hard, only that instructions were severely lacking. DESIGN AND QUALITY PROS: * Extra firm and stable. * Solid solder joints and great quality material. * Classy, high quality nice finish. * Seat looks good and is solid, but lacks lumbar support. Additionally, cushioning is a little too hard for longer racing/practicing sessions. * Overall excellent ergonomy for an average adult or teenager, thanks to how adjustable the frame is. * New 2018 design includes more holes to fix all models of wheels, pedals and shifters. * Pedals base in solid metal, with adjustable angle. * New 2018 design includes more predrilled holes to fit a large number of steering wheels, pedals and shifters. * Wheel base support allows for angle adjustment. CONS: * Wheel base support is now placed higher than the old design. When using it with a G920, G29, G27 and G25, the setup ends slightly higher than ideal for users under 6 feet high. I am 5’9” and it is a little too high for me. Even taking in consideration that the wheel should be set higher for racing than for normal driving. * Wheel base support angle adjustment lacks precision - It has only three angles, not allowing precise angle adjustments. I had to come up with a "mod" to get my "perfect angle". * Shifter support does not allow for any adjustment of height, angle or distance from seat. Nevertheless, the shifter positioning was okay for my height and arm length. CONCLUSION The 2018 GTA model is an amazing sim racing cockpit: solid, not too heavy, easy to move around when on carpet, great quality, shipping and packaging. Customer service was also five stars. Although it is not 100/100 perfect, there is nothing else on the market at this price point that gets even close. To get a better cockpit you will have to spend at least 2 to 3 times more. I 100% recommend the this cockpit for sim racing of all skills. ... show more

  • More than I expected for the price
Color: Speciale-black/Red
Note that I am reviewing this item for something other than its original intended purpose, I am using this for a flight simulator instead of a driving simulator and I will be reviewing this in the context of a flight simulator. Shipping was extremely fast and the product arrived in two boxes in good condition. As other reviewers have stated, the assembly instructions are rather poor and somebody with little to no furniture building experience would probably have trouble putting this together. I myself have considerable experience putting things together and had no problems putting it together. It took me about 30 minutes to assemble. The quality is way better than I expected for the price. All the metal pieces are of thick metal and the assembled unit is very solid with no flex anywhere. The seat itself is comfortable and after a two hour test flight I was as comfortable at the end of the flight as I was when I started. There is no lumbar support, so I would recommend a lumbar pillow for longer sessions. My original worry when I ordered this is whether or not the control platform would support the weight of my instrument panel, which weighs about 40 pounds with the weight of the panel and all related equipment. I need not have worried, the platform supports are very solid and easily hold my panel without strain and without any flexing. The control platform is too small for use with a flight panel, which I expected since this product was meant for a driving simulator. I mounted an extended panel on top of the included platform for mounting my panel and having somewhere for all the usb hubs and cabling for the instruments and prevent anything from hanging on top of my legs. The pedal panel is just a little small for my Saitek Pro Flight pedals, nor does it have the right holes to mount them. I was able to solidly mount them using only holes on the right hand side. The pedals operated well and the pedal unit did not move or shift during my test flight so at this point I think just the two screws on the right are sufficient to keep my pedals in place. Now for the two issues I have with this unit, both of which are pretty minor. First, the control platform has a little bit of slop in it and it will rotate a small amount, even with the bolts fully tightened. This is really noticeable when pushing or pulling the yoke, the whole table assembly will move a little bit, not very good for pitch control. In my case I have a simple fix for this. Since I have my extended platform, which extends forward of the upright supports, I can easily add an extension to the upright supports and anchor it to the table, this will hold the table in a rigid position and stop the unwanted motion. For a driving simulator this is probably not an issue, since for driving your forces on the wheel are side to side instead of front to back you would probably never run into much problem with the forward to back rolling of the platform. The second issue, which is a bit more of a problem for me, is that there is no adjustment for the position of the control platform in relation to the pedal platform. What this means is that when the seat is in a position that allows me to comfortably use my toe brakes I am just a little closer to the instrument panel than I would like to be. The main effect of this is that I have to now wear my kneeboard on the left side since when I wear it on the right my throttle quadrant is in the way. This is not a huge issue, but since I am right handed, it is harder to write when my kneeboard is on the left. The second issue with being too close is that there is not a lot of space to reference sectionals or procedure books during flight. Not much of an issue when I am flying IFR since I tend to write very detailed flight plans that contain all the information I need in flight right on my kneeboard, but for VFR flight where I did not write up a flight plan and need to reference materials in flight, it is a bit of a bother. But then, I guess it forces me to better plan all of my flights. :) A big plus with this unit was the seat slider. Most of the other cheaper simpit units I looked at, this was optional, but with this unit it is included. This is huge for use with a flight simulator. With the extra size of a flight panel plus the flight controls, getting in and out of the airplane would be difficult with the seat in flying position. With the slider I can get in and out with the seat in the full rear position and then slide forward for flight. So all in all, I am highly impressed with this unit. I was able to easily adapt this unit for use as a flight simulator, and the construction is very solid. I can look forward to many years of flying with this unit. ... show more

  • This is a super solid sim rig if you can get past a few minor issues
Color: Speciale-black/Red
This is my first racing rig so consider that with everything I say below. Packaging - The box it is delivered in is heavy as h*ll. Probably close to 100 lbs. Everythiing was packaged well and nothing was bent, dented or chipped. 5 out of 5 Assembly - The rig itself is pretty easy to assemble, however, I did run into a few issues. One of the holes on the frame was not puched all the way through so I was unable to insert the bolt and tighten it. Thankfully, this does not effect the performace of the rig at all. So, it is what it is. Also, the included instructions are pretty much useless but serviceable if you don't struggle putting things together usually. 3.5 out of 5 Quality - I really like this rig. Once assembled it is very sturdy. There is some flex but I think that is to be expected, especially at this price point. The seat is actually way better than I expected and at 5'11" 190 lbs it fits me like a glove. 4.5 out of 5 Adjustability - The sliding reclining seat, the adjustable wheel mount and pedal plate make this a great rig! 5 out of 5 Value - Value is subjective so you kinda have to decide this for yourself. I would say for the price I paid and being able to work around the minor issues I experienced I would say this rig is an excellent value and I would buy it again. ... show more

  • Get a little bolster cussion and you'll be set for flight simming.
Color: Speciale-black/Red
Outfitted this setup for my flight simulator gear and I couldn't be happier with mu purchase. A little low to the ground, but I put it on a couple rolling furniture dollys for mobility and presto... It's not cheap. Good quality, great design... instructions are soooo misleading, but a bit of logic and common sense will make everything better. ... show more
