  • Stunning Look and Great Value!
The Grote Solid Electric Guitar GTLM-4 in metallic blue is an absolute showstopper! The finish is vibrant and eye-catching, and the basswood body feels lightweight yet solid. The maple neck and fretboard are smooth and comfortable, making it a joy to play, whether you’re practicing at home or performing. The tone is surprisingly versatile, with a bright, clean sound that works well for multiple genres. The craftsmanship is excellent for the price, with no sharp fret edges and reliable hardware. This guitar looks and plays like something much more expensive. If you're looking for an affordable, high-quality electric guitar with style and great playability, the Grote GTLM-4 is a fantastic choice. Highly recommend! ... show more

  • Looks great but looks can be deceiving.
Body looks great but it needed a lot of work to make it playable. Very sharp fret ends. Tone control didn't work. Both pickups were very microphonic and had to be replaced. Lots of neck adjusting and intonation issues to make it playable. Really poor factory set up and quality control. I would not recommend for a beginner or someone who doesn't know how to work on or set up a guitar. ... show more

  • About what one would expect
Someone mentioned the end of the headstock went through the shipping box. Mine had styrofoam between box and the headstock but it still almost went through. It was shipped in the guitar box inside another box twice as big as it should’ve been and no padding around the guitar box so it bounced around inside the other one. Typical Amazon. The headstock has a scuff on it but not enough to send it back. Nothing that wouldn’t happen the first time you bump it on something. Other than that it appears to be in decent shape. I tuned it and played it. No dead or uneven frets. Fret board needs oil. Really dry. I’ll do that when I put new strings on. A little fret buzz on 4th and 5th frets on A and D strings. Nut looks cut fine so I’ll adjust the bridge and see if that takes care of it. It’s really not that noticeable of a buzz but still. The volume and tone knobs and selector switch work like they should. Frets weren’t too sharp and were a little scratchy but I think it was some glue. A little polishing and a light file and it’s all good. All in all not a bad beginner guitar. My only concearn is a little gap where the fretboard overlaps the pickguard at the neck joint. This is my first tele style guitar but I think it should be flush. I don’t think it will affect the playability. I like the finish on the back of the neck. It’s smooth and makes it fast. Very comfortable. Overall I really like this guitar and how it looks and plays. Pickups sound good. I’m going to enjoy playing it as is. I’ll do some upgrades to it eventually. Would make a nice mod if that’s what you’re looking for. ... show more

  • Solid entry guitar, but needs setup
I've purchased several inexpensive guitars on Amazon, to practice modifications and set-up skills. This is my first guitar from Grote, a unique take on a tele style guitar, with a slightly offset waist, short lower horn and cool finish. Overall, it's functional, but not ready for a beginner out of the box. Here're the details: Good: beautiful matte finish, awesome dark green color with pearloid pick guard, smooth maple neck and fretboard. Action was set low and no string buzz, so frets, bridge and neck all level and straight. Pickups provide nice tonal variety, and the expected tele "twang". Bad: fret ends were really sharp, some of the worst I've encountered from sub $200 guitars. The frets are scratchy on the strings, so need polished. Strings were low quality and don't intonate well despite an acceptable cut nut and adjusting saddle springs to impact length. When I changed the strings, the nut fell out (no glue or dried out?) and the tuners and tuning trees screws were all loose. Overall: any new guitar, especially bargain level intro instruments will benefit from a new set of quality strings and intonation and action adjustments. This is expected and I don't hold that against this Grote. But the sharp frets were really painful and scratchy tops sound and feel terrible when bending and fretting strings. Loose screws and nut are easy fixes but not great confidence builders when handling a brand new guitar. That's all QC that was passed up to provide the guitar at this price. I like the look and feel, and body is heavier and components feel sturdier than say a Glarry/Ktaxon,but playability out of the box not quite as good as Indio or Squier. Still, decent value at $99 and after some setup, it will be a fun guitar to play and modify (my intent!) ... show more

  • Great Value!
This guitar has great tone and feels solid. The finish is also quite nice at this price point. If you are shopping a budget friendly guitar, this might just be it for you! It is my first tele type guitar and I’m happy with it in my collection.

  • Poor quality
Color: Green
Nice looking guitar, love the color however the feet ends are sharp & unfinished & the B string buzzes on the first fret, looks & feels really cheap. It was cheap but I’m not impressed with the quality.

  • good player, great aesthetics and has that T twang you want
Color: Green
Great finish, slim neck and easy to play. The tone is very T like, not exactly like a stock T tone, but it is a nice single coil tone that’s very close. Very nice bang for your buck. I think this is a very old company, a little better than your average stuff you see at this price
