my usual disclaimer: i bought this at full price; no compensation of any kind for this review; likewise, i don't know or have any relationship to anyone at Grip Power Pads. absolutely first rate materials, construction, & design--well beyond what the price (reasonable, but not cheap) would suggest. Sizing: based on advice in various Amazon reviews of this belt i ordered a *large*; this was good advice, it fits but even then i am at the higher end. If i had ordered belt size based on my pants size (eg, i wear a 34W x 34L in levis 541) i would have ordered the medium and it would have been to small. this belt is a pleasure to use--does what it's supposed to do and it's easy/quick to get on and off. I would bet that this belt was designed by someone who lifts big iron. a lot of lifting belts on the market, but only a few are worth considering. For hardcore lifters a weight belt--of the correct size and properly fitted--is not comfortable. It's not supposed to be--not that it should hurt but you should feel compression around your mid-section. The key features (in my opinion) are: (i) leather (neoprene doesn't give you anywhere near the support you need if you lift heavy--i've seen powerlifters in the gym who wear a neoprene belt underneath a 13 mm leather belt; (ii) 4 inch width x 13 mm thickness (this is the competition standard); the 4 inch width all around (not tapered so that the belt is narrower in front) is necessary so your abs have something to push against as you lift; (iii) lever (vs two or three-prong buckle)--a lever is critical in my view because it's much easier and quicker to get the belt tight around you waist--with a buckle i have to pull (hard) on one end and get the two or three prongs in the holes, then thread the free end back under the buckle; worse, i have to do this in reverse to take it off (which is common after each set); in both cases, this is a complete ass ache if my arms are already gassed. With a lever, i can get it locked down tight with one hand and with almost no force. Then (and this is the best part) after the set, i just release the buckle, again one quick movement and no force, and the belt stays in place on my waist but is loose enough so i can breathe deeply and all i need to do is pull the lever across the belt just before the next set. To me this is what high quality gear ought to do--just work the way it's supposed to and not make you think about it or make you have to expend unnecessary energy to make it work. awesome, world class piece of gear. ... show more

    • heavy duty belt for heavy duty lifts
The media could not be loaded. this is about as awesome as it gets! NOT a belt for amateurs or wednesday deadlifts with bumperplates. This is a very serious piece of kit, probably only suited for very serious weightlifters, powerlfiting competitors or strongman. With 4" of with and 13mm thick leather you are going to get all the support youll ever need, even when pulling crazy weights. Thanks to the lever buckle, you can get the belt much tighter than you would with a traditional buckle system. The finish and details are very very cool, from the embossed logo to the branded buckle and the heavy duty stitching, its all very very impressive. I personally really like that this is a handmade and all natural piece. This makes every belt unique which is already cool, but the leather will also wear in the more you use it, giving the belt a nice character over time.     • Give this belt a try you will be happy with it!
This belt is defently better then the 50$ belts. I purchased this belt becasue my $50 one was starting to tear. The $50 one lasted about a year and showed signs of wear right away. When receiveing this I noticed the differents right away. The lether is a great quality way better and thick. The lever seems to be constructed stronger as well. I haver had this belt for about 3 months and it shows no signs of wear. I really confident when using this for my heavier lifts. From the looks this belt should last for years. I will update my review when the belt fails. I belive this belt is on inzer level at a far cheap price point. Inzer 100$ plus $30 shipping. This belt what like $75 when I purchased. ... show more

I have only been able to use the belt once and I enjoy it . I appreciate how quickly it arrived and the quality of the material . I was also pleased with the sizing chart . I have ordered belts before,only to get the wrong size using their chart . Not only that, I have a so called top of the line belt that has loosend greatly in less that a year . My squat and feadlift are just under 500 lbs . So, its not like I am using world class weight. I am also going to order your gripper pads since one of the gyms I frequent won't allow chalk ... show more

Loved it until the buckle broke just taking it off. The metal snapped completely. Good thing it didn’t happen under a heavy load. I’d be cautious to buy again as I’m seeing it has happened to others as well.

So far so good. Seems to be top notch quality. Hit a PR of 405 x 2 than 425 x 1 and finally 435 x 1 at 168lbs All without it blowing apart. It did dig into my hips pretty good but that's to be expected especially not broken in yet.
