  • Heavy, but powerful
Buffalo New Yorker here. I bought this about a month ago and got to use it during our recent, nationally recognized storm. Many of my friends and family laughed at me and my electric ambitions. I kept telling them though, 80v is A LOT of power for a 12" wide propeller. When I saw this thing go on sale, I finally got to prove them wrong. The shovel handled about 6 inches of fresh snow without issue, anything higher required lifting the unit a bit and taking a bit off the top first (super effective.) I especially like that it's only 12" wide, as I can quickly and easily do the porch steps as well. The unit is astonishingly able to handle end-of-driveway slush, but only if your battery is relatively full. Power decreases as the battery is drained. More than halfway, drained, it will stall in such conditions. With a fresh battery, I'm able to handle my tight 2-car wide entryway with ease. A couple of my neighbors were equally astonished and even had to cross the street a couple of fo times to move the snow I inadvertently blew into my neighbor's driveway -- which leads me to one of two cons about this thing: You can't direct the snow-throwing direction, which means you have to be incredibly strategic if you're in an urban or even semi-urban environment. The other downside is that the shovel is rather heavy. I'm a pretty fit dude in my 30s, but I imagine this might be troublesome for some folks. It's certainly easier on your body than shoveling, but quite as easy as snow blowing. This has been terrific for my small, urban driveway. IDK if battery life would be appropriate for anything larger, but you can get more batteries. Luckily for me, I've got a Greeenworks 80v mower that uses the same battery, so I got the "tool only" variant of this for less than $200. Final note: remember to store your batteries indoors. Keeping them in the cold will both hurt performance and lifespan. ... show more

  • A back saver.
Size: 12" 2.0Ah
I love this thing! I was very hesitant purchasing it, but as usual, did a lot of research on battery operated snow shovels. It was a Black Friday deal so the price was right. It was the easiest thing I ever had to put together. I live on Lake Erie so we get hit with a lot of snow. The Greenworks shovel slid through a snowy, slushy mess like butter! I thought for sure that it would bog down because of the heaviness of the ice and snow, but it kept on going! It seems pretty durable. I had my driveway and sidewalk cleared in a fraction of the usual time it takes to hand shove and my back feels so much better for it. The shovel threw the snow pretty far. The only thing I don't care for is that it is heavy and that you can't control where the snow is directed. But, on the other hand, the heaviness of it digs into the snow and leaves a clean sweep. Unfortunately, the snow gets shot straight out the front of the shovel without being able to direct it. I live in an older neighborhood so the houses are fairly close together. I had to plan ahead so the snow wouldn't hit my neighbors houses. I wasn't able to use this as a shovel. It is too heavy, but I drug it back and forth which worked out ok. My driveway is a longer driveway because of a detached garage but this little shovel's battery never pooped out. I still had power to go after I got done. I used a regular shovel for my stairs because of the Greenworks heaviness and because of the way my stairs are positioned. I suppose being a 68 year old woman might have something to do with my lake of strength (heavy sigh). All in all, I'm pretty happy with the Greenworks 80V Snow Shovel. ... show more

  • Works great - but a little heavier than I expected- see review
Size: 12" 2.0Ah
I have had a snowjoe electric shovel for years and it is really lightweight- however it did not throw the snow as far as the Greenworks one - I did give it a 5 as it’s works great - only had it for one season so far - and it did not disappoint me. So as mentioned it works great - but it is a bit on the heavy side - So just be aware- The showjoe one I mentioned is half the weight but only throws half as much snow - hope this helps. ... show more

  • False Advertisement from Greenworks on Batteries
Size: 12" 2.0Ah
This unit runs as expected. I'm surprised how far it throws the snow. It does well with slushy snow. Doesn't clog. This unit is heavy an unwieldy, and I'm a pretty big guy. I thought when I bought it my wife could handle it but it's too heavy for her. The point and the reason for my review, I bought this in 2021 and already I barely get 10 minutes battery life. GW states on their website up to 45 minutes on a full charge and claims a 'limited' 4 year warranty. I was on a chat with Roxeen and they said there was nothing wrong with it. Emphasis on the words 'up to'. So technically as long as it powers your GW tool, there is nothing wrong with it even though you only get 10 minute or less before it dies. One positive thing, I suppose, was a 20% offer for a new battery. Big deal. I have some 24v GW yardwork tools and they don't stay on for very long either. So, their batteries, in my opinion, stink. Just be aware that GreenWorks's warranty on their batteries isn't worth the paper it's written on. ... show more

  • Doesn't clear snow well or easily!
Size: 12" 2.0Ah+LED
I found it heavy and awkward. The snow only goes straight ahead. Worse, we had about 2 inches of wet snow and that just piled up in front of the blower. Finished much easier with a shovel...can't recommend it!!

  • Very Effective
Size: 12" 2.0Ah
We have used this 3 times now with extremely heavy snow up to around 8". We are delighted with the result, so much easier than shoveling. I agree with other reviews that it is a pity it does not have wheels as it seems strange for it to be scraping along the cement. The inability to turn where it blows does impact when you can use it if you want to stay friends with your neighbors as they do their snow. All in all, a good purchase. ... show more
