Awesome file cabinet. I bought this specifically because it was on the shorter side (compared to others) because I needed it to fit under the lowest point of my standing desk. However, it is an excellent cabinet otherwise; well constructed and good looking. Packaging was very good, including protective metal braces, so it arrived with no dents or damage. My only beef is that it was missing a minor part (the file hanging bar to allow for sideways legal-sized folder hanging) but the very helpful and responsive customer service offered to send me one, though I'd have to wait a few months, or give me a partial refund. I took the partial refund. Based on their excellent help with this one minor issue, I give the item 5 stars which it would have earned without the issue.

I bought this to replace an old, cheap filing cabinet that's been kicking around for years. Assembly went pretty smoothly. I was concerned at first about the quality. The metal is all pretty thin, but once assembled it's not bad - better than what I had and good enough for what I need. There are 2 types of screws for assembly. A few coarse thread sheet metal screws that work really well. Then, there are a bunch of machine screws (fine thread, more like a tiny bolt than a typical screw) for use on the rest of the cabinet. The issue with this second type of screw is that they really need to have a nut or thicker metal to screw into that has threads in it. The threads on the screw are too fine to grip the metal tightly and the metal is too think to have any meaningful threads. The result is that the screws go in but will not tighten all the way - not with a meaningful amount of torque, anyway. You should be VERY careful if using a drill to install these screws or you will strip the holes. The very last step of assembly - putting the drawers onto the slides - takes some magic. The instructions are useless. They are poorly translated and make absolutely no sense. Ultimately, there are some square holes in the sides of the drawers. You are trying to put some square 'tabs' from the sliders into those square holes. The front tab goes into the hole horizontally (the drawer slides backward on the tab) and then the rear tab slides up vertically into the other hole. I did one side and then the other this way and it worked really well. I also opened up the tabs a little bit with a flat blade screwdriver which made the process easier. Not a lot, just enough so the tabs would accept the thickness of the metal drawer. I took off a star because the drawers are not wide enough to fit 2 file folders side by side. You're provided with one metal bar in each drawer for this purpose, but they provide false hope. See my photos - the drawers are too narrow to fit hanging file folders side by side as intended. I could do half of the drawer perpendicular and the other half parallel, but I'm not that kind of person...

This has some slight damage, however, once put together it is an extremely sturdy cabinet. The basic files are a little narrow for the rails, however, it's fairly easy to find file rails to correct the issue. I would buy this item again. (And probably will for my home office)

I really did a lot of research before choosing this one and based on the reviews I picked, this. Assembly was hell. It took a long time. The directions are pretty difficult to interpret and they are so tiny. Because of that, it took a long time to assemble and make sure each piece was correct. The top came damaged. The back came dented but I needed the unit so I decided to overlook it since there would be stuff on the top and the back was the back. Anyway. Get it all assembled and putting in the drawers is a nightmare. The right side will catch. The left side appears to be damaged so I have to contact the manufacturer. I will change my review if they work with me on returning the product. However, if I just spent $100 for a heap of metal. It just sucks.

When I opened the box, it said you should have a friend help you assemble. I was a bit nervous about that. I didn't have help, but I gave it a shot. The directions were fairly easy, but a few mistakes in the lettering in the set up manual. Thank goodness for pictures. Overall, it would be nice to have a little help at times, but it wasn't available to me. So I started it inside the house and then moved it outside before putting in the drawers. It took a couple of hours, not 30 minutes as advertised, but that wasn't a deal breaker. I didn't end up putting the two doors on the cabinet yet because I want to be able to put my car in the garage and still access inside the cabinet. It appears fairly sturdy once put together. The drawers are an added benefit. Overall, I am very happy with my purchase. It also arrive in the early part of the window they promised it to arrive.
