We put this pump/fountain in a completely clean 1000 gallon koi pond. Only have 4 medium large Koi. We also run 2 other filter pumps and a waterfall. Wanted a fountain spray feature in the large part of pond. Bought this just for water feature. Installed on a platform to keep off pond bottom. Had to return because it would ONLY RUN 5 minutes at a time. It was placed 2 foot below waterline as recommended Very disappointed. Amazon is sending a replacement. The media could not be loaded. Created a bird bath!! Love the different attachments (4) it comes with. Could use bigger suctions on the bottom to keep it anchored - it wanted to float away several times. It did shut off a few times so to troubleshoot we took it out and looked it over but couldn't find a problem. Eventually, it just kicked on itself after a few minutes. That happened a few times.     • Fantastic for clean water. Not so great for water that has debris or gets dirty (see below)
First of all, the quality of the attachments is MUCH nicer than most. The pipe is also of a larger diameter than most as well (higher flow rate, but also need more space ). I really like all the different choices for the fountain and the adjustability of it. Everything screws together securely. I could not get an 8 foot spray as they claimed with any of the nozzles. Max was about 4.5 feet. Nice long power cord. You can use it as a drain too (to clean out the fountain/pond) if you have some tubing that you can attach to the output. The fountain has only two small sponge filters (you access them by turning the base, if it is too hard to turn then loosen the metal top by unscrewing the grey retainer on the pump output. This means in a pond or a fountain that gets dirty you are going to be cleaning it often. And no extra filters are provided. I ended up wrapping the bottom with some netting which is easier to remove and clean. If you use this indoors with clean water this will not be an issue. My cheaper fountain has a better filtering system (but not as nice attachments) ... show more

We have a pretty large pond, and it is definitely a huge task to keep it clean and aerated properly for our stocked fish. This fully submersible fountain water pump does a great job at creating good flowing circulation throughout the section of the pond that you want to target with a consistent flow of at least 500 gallons of water flowing through it continuously. The fountain height is sufficient for creating splatter and surface movement to help add additional upper circulation, whilst the submerged portion continuously pulls it's weight below the surface.     • Perfect pump for outdoor ponds
I needed a larger pump for my outdoor Koi pond, the plastic pumps keep breaking or they simply wear out and can't pump a lot of water. This pump was already assembled and easy to install. Just don't place it directly on the bottom of the pond to avoid mud and muck being sucked up into it. It aerates the water perfectly and works well on my approximately 10x12 pond. This might be too much power for smaller ponds. My fish are happy though! ... show more

I have a small pond in my backyard that houses a turtle. He's been a member of the family for years. Recently I decided to give him an upgrade, and that means new rocks, a new basking ramp, and a new pump to keep his water aerated. I thought my last one was good, but this one is great! Not only is it good and moving water, but it has 4 different heads for water output. This means you can choose how you want the water to look coming out and it's nice to have that option for aesthetic purposes. My fav is the waterfall.     • Good flow, stays put
The pump in my sugar kettle fountain was failing and I got this one as a replacement. Because I have goldfish in the kettle, I need a pump that is effective at moving a fairly high volume of water, as well as looking good. This pump has excellent flow and moves a lot of water for such a small pump. The fountain itself is very attractive and there are several choices for the nozzle. You can use the extender to make it a bit taller for deeper fountains or leave it off for a shallow situation. The manufacturer recommends that the pump be placed on a platform, rather than the bottom of your fountain/pond, so it will not suck up mud and debris from the bottom. That is what I did and the pump stays put really well, thanks to a good design and strong suction cups on the bottom. One nice feature that I have not tested yet is that you can use this as a sump pump as well. I do partial water changes every so often and it will be nice not to have to drag my sump pump out of the storage shed every time. ... show more

This the first time ever that I'm seeing a stainless water pump for fountains/ponds. This is so high quality that I know this will last forever and will not break. It was easy to choose the nozzles for my aquaponics system. Whenever the power goes out, my plastic pumps are so bad that I really need to bang it hard just to get the impeller started. This was an easy startup because of the quality and the materials being used. It will most likely last longer than my other four plastic pumps. This pump does have some weight to it as well so it won't move anywhere in the pond especially being bumped by fish. Other than that, you can't go wrong with purchasing this pump for long lasting use. Get a few so you can have that peace of mind knowing you don't have to worry about it breaking apart anytime in the near future. ... show more
