  • Not Really A scale
I purchased this grinder a couple of weeks ago to replace an OXO Brew Grinder that I purchased for $300 in June 2022 that no longer works. For $50, I was a little skeptical as to how this would compare. The grinder works fine and is no better or worse than any other burr grinder you may purchase. The issue I have is that it references an integrated scale, which is misleading. All this is, is a digital counter that is no different than an analog count down dial you find on other grinders. I had one where you turned the dial to 10 to grind 10 cups of coffee. Very straight forward and logical. This one counts up using grams, but does not actually weigh the coffee that is ground. I usually make 10 cups every morning and use 70 grams. To achieve that, I set this grinder to 35 grams since it won't go over 50 grams at a time. I grind the 35 grams dump them into the coffee basket, then grind another 35 grams. The other day I got distracted and hit the grind button a second time before dumping the first 35 grams. The grinder simple ground the coffee until the count reached 35. Thus, I had supposedly 70 grams in the plastic bin. The grinder, if it actually weighed the plastic bin + coffee should not have even started a 2nd grind. It should have said I already had 35 grams of coffee ground, which is what the OXO grinder does. Granted, we're talking a $300 item vs this $50 item. However, when the description says a "scale", it should really be a scale, not just a digital counter. I use flavored beans on occasion that have oil on them and will occasionally stick to the grinder hopper causing fewer beans to be ground at a time. With just a counter, be it analog or digital, this would mean less beans ground than what I actually want. With a true scale grinder, this is not an issue because it stays on longer until the weight has been ground. With this grinder, like similar analog grinders, it is time that it counts, not weight. Even though I ask for 35 grams, it is simply counting time. Bottom line, for $50 bucks, this grinder works, but the advertised description as a "scale" is bordering on false advertising. I should not be able to grind 2 batches of 35 grams without emptying the collection bin of the 1st 35 grams prior to grinding the 2nd 35 grams. A true scale would not let me have 70 grams in the collection bin when I only asked it to grind 35. One final comment, the 50 gram limit is really a pain if you want to make 10, 12, 15 etc. cups at one time. 50 grams only makes the equivalent of 5-7 cups. ... show more

  • Great Grinder
I've had my grinder for about four months now, and use it almost every day. I'm so in love with it. As you can see in the pictures that it comes in wonderful packaging. The grind are very consistent. The right side of pic is at setting 3, the left is I think 5. I found that 3 is just right to make my own coffee pods for the Keurig. It has a nice size hopper to keep your beans in. It has adjustable gram weights that automatically stops when it reaches the desired amount you have set. I love the taste of the fresh ground coffee, better than the pods that have been sitting on the shelf for who knows how long. It does very well when I do a course grind for my press. The only con I have found is sometimes the cup that catches the ground coffee is plastic, so once in awhile it gets static cling. No biggy though. I also love the Greater Goods company. They have quality products, which I have many of, and they give back to the community. ... show more

  • Almost grinds espresso
A breeze to use and produces a precise amount of grind, which is especially convenient for espresso. Unfortunately, it did not grind fine enough for single shots of espresso. I tried multiple types of beans. It was an amazing grinder for every other type of coffee brewing method. It does not have a billow feature like my other grinder to puff air through the burrs to remove residual particles, but otherwise it's a very fun and easy grinder to use. ... show more

  • Great grinder, scale not accurate
This grinder does a great job, but the "scale" is more like a timer. If I set it on 25g it goes for about 25 sec and I get my 18g of coffee. Once I figured it out it was worth keeping, it really does grind nicely, but I was disappointed about the scale, that had been a selling point for me.

  • Don’t loose the brush!
I like the design of this coffee grinder so much I bought one for a friend. I hate a bad brew of coffee. I measure bottled water. I weigh the ground coffee in grams. It’s a time consuming routine. The Greater Good grinder produces a consistent grind! It’s noise level doesn’t disturb my dog. It grinds with a push of the button and stops precisely based on weight. If I failed to add enough beans in the hopper, it also pauses with flashing numbers and an “e”. I add a small increment of beans. It’s the best I have come across. I’ve once pondered on buying a grinder that does all this for several thousands dollars. Both ends of the brush are necessary if you’ve chosen a fine grind. The handle end is perfect for unplugging the packed coffee in the conical burr holes. This has only happened to me once. This unit is highly worth trying! ... show more
