  • Best grinder I’ve owned.
This is easily the best electric grinder I’ve seen at this price point. I’d argue that it competes with conical bore grinders in the $300-$500 price range. But as you know, the perfect grind can cost upwards of $1000+. This grinder is easy to use. If you weigh out your coffee (like you should 😅), this lets you set the amount, hit the start button and it does the rest. This produces a very consistent grind and taste, but you will want to clean it frequently with the brush, as the debris builds up and you will start to get old grounds mixed with the new, which becomes obvious when you switch beans. The only thing I’m not a fan of is the way the grind size is changed. I get nervous twisting the bean hopper to increase and decrease size, as I think over time this has the potential to break if you are switching all the time. But if you just want your morning coffee to taste consistent day to day, this grinder delivers. That said, I primarily use this for French press and drip. I have not tried grinding espresso or other ‘fine’ settings. ... show more

  • Decent machine, quiet enough for the office
When I was looking for a good conical burr grinder to use in the office, one of my biggest must-have features was a relatively quiet machine, because I knew I was going to be using this in an office with boomy acoustics and I didn't want to disturb my coworkers every morning. I poured through many reviews of many different models of grinders, and eventually decided on this one, and I'm quite glad I did. While it's obviously not whisper quiet, the noise it makes is reasonable, and of course even the non-coffee drinkers in the office love the smell of fresh ground beans filling the air. I also really like the scale feature, as I adhere to a ratio of grounds to water that I learned from a barista to produce consistently excellent coffee. The one gripe about the scale is it only works after the beans are ground. So I have to estimate the weight, pour the beans in and watch as the scale goes up. If I underestimate, it runs and runs until you add more beans or after a long while it auto shuts off. If you over-estimate, you end up wasting beans. This grinder is also fairly easy to clean, however I would recommend using an air duster after you brush it out with the supplied hand brush. Don't skip the hand brush step or else the air duster will blast coffee grounds in your face. I prefer an electric one rather than the disposable cans for environmental reasons. I usually clean it out after every single brew or every other brew. You might not need to be this nuts about cleanliness, however you will need to do it very frequently if you are using dark roasts or beans with any flavoring, since the oils in those beans make the machine clog much quicker. ... show more

  • Clogs HORRIBLY and is designed so you CANNOT disassemble, clean, or fix it!
I have had this for about 1.5 years.. paid $80. I only used it on weekends mostly, so considering it's had very light use especially and such a short period of time I am very unhappy. I removed the hopper and saw the issue immediately. The grounds after they pass the burr assembly are swept by a rotating component which once any small backup begins, causes it to create a compressed flat layer of grounds that turns into a compacted immovable brick... I flipped the unit over and saw some screws, I'm handy, okay let's go for it. I take those off and it only removes the scale. I see the top and inspect all over the sides and there are zero screws. Thinking the top must be clipped in with tabs, I start to insert my flat head screwdriver around the upper white ring and sure, I find several tabs and I carefully work that off. That is when I realized the truly terrible design at hand.. there are three more screws which I removed and even prying with heavy force using the leverage of my flat head screwdriver nothing is budging. This unit is designed to be irreparable, plain and simple. I took a risk on this summer of 2023 when there were very few reviews and the company, with a great marketing team, sold me on hopefully what would be a well "designed in St. Louis USA!" product. NOPE. I also bought their precision coffee scale, their electric kettle, and their bathroom scale. Those have been great but the coffee scale literally dies like 10 seconds after I get a "low battery!" and literally in the middle of my pour over I lose track of my brew... the bathroom scale has been solid though. The electric kettle is just about perfect and hasn't given me any issues... I use it daily for morning coffee and evening tea... so they do some things very well but the coffee grinder is a failure. I enjoyed this coffee grinder mostly until the clogging began and then once this "coffee brick" started to happen I just could not get it going again... once I opened it up in an attempt to clean it out properly I realized this is a poorly designed product designed to fail and it cannot be repaired. Also I went to their website, thinking perhaps I would have some chance of warranty... check this out. "WARRANTY INFO Your product has a limited warranty that is active upon registration." What in the heck does that mean?! Who doesn't just say what the warranty actually is... is that even legal? I have never seen such a thing... F+ Fool me once? Shame on me... Fool me twice? • Doesn’t actually weigh coffee
Edited to update rating. Seller reached out to see what could be done to resolve my concern. I am impressed with the customer service of this seller and am updating to reflect. I will say that this is a really good grinder. Much better than any other grinder I’ve used in this price range. Just don’t rely on it for exact weights. It gets close enough not to waste much if you are using a separate scale to weigh accurately or if you are not overly concerned about precision. Also keep a chopstick nearby if you grind beans with any oil to help them drop when they get stuck in the hopper. —— original review below —— This is a really good grinder but I have checked and the resulted coffee ground is not actually by weight. When grinding 5 different times I got 4 different weights of coffee grounds. They were all within 3g when I was aiming for 41g but certainly not as advertised. If the scale wasn’t the main selling feature I’d give this a much higher rating as a coffee grinder. The grind is consistent, it is exceptionally quiet for a coffee grinder and the static free bin is easy to empty and keep clean. It does tend to have and issue with fresh beans which have some oil to them and require prodding with a chopstick to get the beans to drop from the hopper into the burrs. The hopper doesn’t hold as much as other grinders. Overall I’d buy it again except for the fact that they advertise the scale and that it can be set to grind to the gram (over 5g) and it just doesn’t do that really grinds my gears (sorry couldn’t resist the grind pun). ... show more

  • Great at the price point and for certain types of coffee
I bought this after my old grinder died. I didn’t want to spend over 100 since I mostly do coarse ground and don’t do a ton of fancy brewing. I actually bought the same model of old grinder and it broke on the first use which doesn’t make sense since the other one died after 6 years. I have used this for about a month now. I mostly make cold brew and brew hot coffee with a chemex. It’s worked excellently for both. Can’t speak to anything like espresso but it seems like it would work fine. It’s quiet compared to the average grinder. The grams sensor has been 100 percent accurate each time I’ve used it. The shape of the grind container pours nicely. The two things I would say to be aware of but not necessarily detriments. The grind container doesn’t snap in so it feels like an accident waiting to happen but so far hasn’t. The hopper isn’t the biggest which doesn’t matter for me because I’m mostly using mass quantity coffee for cold brew and if you were making fancy coffee you wouldn’t put a ton in the hopper anyway. If you want to pour a whole Costco bag in, you can’t. If you’re not gonna buy a high end grinder and don’t need to do anything fancy I’m sure this would accomplish most of your goals. ... show more

  • Good idea with a major design flaw
I loved the idea of a conical burr grinder with a built-in scale at a price that doesn't break the bank - I got it for $55 on sale. Everything worked great for a couple of months while I was grinding mostly light-medium roasts. But when I switched to dark roasts which is what I actually prefer, this grinder became unusable. The problem is this: There are 3 chambers that the coffee goes through in this design - the top chamber that the hopper sits on, where you put the beans for the grinder to grab. Then the ground coffee is collected in a middle chamber, which has 2 slots that then funnel the coffee to the bottom, removable chamber which collects that ground coffee for consumption. The problem is that the middle chamber is not removable, and it clogs. It clogs A LOT if you use dark/oily beans. Like, every other use. And the only way to clean it is by sticking the butt end of the little cleaning brush that comes with the product into the 2 outlet slots and just moving it around in there blindly, to dislodge the jam. During this process you lose a lot of ground coffee that just goes all over the place and makes a mess. This problem disqualifies the grinder as a tool to use when I want to make a quick cup of coffee, and just makes for an overall unpleasant experience. The support team does not acknowledge this problem and only suggests that you clean the top chamber and run the grinder while adjusting the grind dial from coarse to fine a few times. This only helps a little. This may be a 4-5 star product for those who use dry beans but unfortunately that's not me. ... show more

  • Excellent product
I drink a lot of coffee and prefer a fine, even grind to produce a strong brew. I had to replace my old coffee grinder that broke. I chose this Gg grinder based on reviews and price. I'm a coffee drinker and often buy whole grain coffee and grind it fine for my drip grinder coffee pot. This unit is a bit larger than I'd prefer but I found a place on my counter where it fits fine. So far this grinder is fantastic. The plastic coffee container where the grounds fall is totally amazing!! there is no static electricity charge and the ground coffee falls completely out of it, no mess, no cleaning, it's wonderful. The grind comes out perfectly and measures the output in the desired grams of volume you can set. It's relatively quiet, much quieter than my old Pavoni grinder and much easier to use. I no longer need to measure the coffee beans before grinding or the ground coffee afterwards. Super simple to use, quiet and produces uniform and perfect grind once you set it to desired setting. I'm sure there are other excellent conical burr grinders out there, but the Common Grounds grinder I purchased is excellent. I recommend it 100%. ... show more

  • It's a Great buy
I have been using this grinder twice a day for over 2 years. It has clogged maybe three times and I have done a deep clean (using my air compressor) only once or twice. I use a scale and precision tamper with my hand press espresso machine so the grind its the only remaining variable and it has been very consistant. What you get for the price is outstanding and the built in scale is a lot of fun. After all this time it never occured to me that I could grind directly into my portafilter, using a funnel that I 3d printed. Today I am designing a new funnel that will match even better. ... show more
