    • Somewhat less of a rip-off than most LED bulbs.
Are Great Eagle bulbs (awesome choice of name for trying to sound like the manufacturer is not where the manufacturer is from, BTW) going to last as long as you would want? Probably not! Will they produce the amount of light they are rated for? It could happen! Are they going to get dimmer over time though? Almost certainly! Are some percentage of them going to be dead on arrival? Very likely! Will a significant percentage of them begin to flicker after a few months. Quite likely! If installed in a semi-enclosed light fixture, will they produce an amount of heat that will make you a bit nervous? Very possibly! Now, read on to understand why these are still likely the bulbs you want. :) LED bulbs, in general, lose brightness over time. They are inherently bulkier than the old incandescent bulbs and so to get them to fit in the same amount of space, they are almost universally made with inadequate heats sinks that leave them running hotter than they ideally should and resultantly they begin to fry the electronics in the bulb, the most common symptom of which is flickering. This is also why bulbs pushing more than '100 watt equivalent' are very bulky and why you are still legally allowed to buy higher-watt incandescent bulbs. Additionally, the 'watt equivalence' claims on almost all LED bulbs range from 'somewhat optimistic' to 'wild, unmonitored exaggeration'. So in practice, LEDs last about the same amount of time as the old style bulbs - two to three years is a good outcome, six months is a bad one. But they are more expensive and complex than the old style bulbs so quality control is a real issue, with the cut-rate manufacturers having very high failure rates and producers of higher quality or more expensive LEDs also having high failure rates. There are a variety of minor pros and cons about LED bulbs but the significant con to LED bulbs is that they cost more, sometimes much more, to buy; the significant pro is that they cost less to operate. Economically, it's about a wash. As a result, given the failure rates at all price points, it rarely makes sense to purchase expensive LED bulbs for household use - that simply means you are paying in advance in expectation of a pay-back benefit you may actually never receive. Generally, LED manufactures compete on price and generally don't expect to make a second sale to the same customer, which results in a race to the bottom. All of the manufactures understand that only a very small percentage of customers will insist they stand by their warranties or product performance claims, so none of them are worried about quality control. A few straddle the line, doing just enough to avoid terrible quality control rates, charging a little more then their cheapest dishonest competitors, honoring their warranties, and seeking repeat business - a reasonable strategy for a product that isn't actually going to last that long. So, what you generally want are inexpensive bulbs produced by a manufacturer that doesn't wildly misrepresent the ratings of the bulbs and which will replace the bad ones without a big fuss. That's seems to be what you get with Great Eagle bulbs. Are they they the best bulbs ever? No, but they are less of a rip-off than most LED bulbs. Hurrah. ... show more

We use these on our outdoors lights. They are long lasting. After many months they will start to dim so we will replace them because we like our critical points lit up like Fort Knox. We then use those replaced bulbs in our basement.

Love, love, love these lightbulbs. Bright, beautiful, cheap, and the perfect color temperature. Cheap 4000K lights are sometimes prone to having a greenish tinge to them, but these lights are neutral and easy on the eyes. You could easily fill a whole house with these bulbs.

They all worked great! After a month, one bulb started flickering, and I am too lazy to get it warranty replaced. :-) But I am assuming it's a fluke. Overall satisfied and would buy again.
