I've only just received these so I will update later as far as durability and longevity but as far as how they work now right out of the box I'd say they are fantastic! Each automatic grinder uses 6 AAA batteries. I don't mind that at all. More power to grind with. I set the both of them down to the finest setting and I'm using them for happy belly black peppercorns (fantastic by the way) and my Colimo sea salt. They are working great for both. I had traditional grinders that were very nice but during a recent arthritis and gout flare up in my hand, I was totally unable to use them because my hand was in fact was useless. These automatic grinders solve that problem. As long as I have one hand that I'm able to use, I'm golden because these are fully automatic and begin to grind as soon as you turn them upside down. The light turns on and it starts grinding. As soon as you you turn it upright again, it stops... Genius. I love them so far. I will update after several months of daily use. The glass containers hold a nice amount of peppercorns, salt or spices! 😊 πŸ‘ ... show more

I really enjoy having both a salt and pepper grinder. Some of my brines require a lot of ground pepper, and I prefer to use fresh ground. I haven't used this for a big brine yet, but for every-day uses, they're pretty good. They do have one major flaw, and that would be the LED lights. The lights on these grinders are a clear, and perfect example of the failure of communication with R&D. It is pretty obvious whoever thought these high beam headlights were a good idea, never actually used them on food. Between the color of the light, and the intensity level, it's nearly impossible to actually see the amount of pepper you're applying. General aviation airplane landing light - yes. S&P grinder light - no. Other than the mild sunburn I get from them each time I use them, I love everything else about them. I'm pretty savvy with small electronics. I will be disassembling these to deactivate the lights. They're really not needed. ... show more

I love the salt and pepper mills I purchased. I use fresh peppercorn medley and have to try an hand grind teaspoon full is tiresome. since purchasing it was a pleasure to use when making sandwiches as the pink slat rock and peppercorns just grind smoother that the hand grinders and love the light to see what your progress. ... show more

What I like most about these is that they're electronic and automatic. There is NO off/on button - just simply turn the grinder upside down and it goes to work! Great to have and use without taking up 2 hands to manually grind. Be prepared that each grinder requires 6 AAA batteries (not included). What I like least about these is that it grinds our salt very fast - so if you're not careful, you'll get a whole lot all at once. However, it grinds our pepper relatively slow. At first we thought maybe the shakers were specific to salt and pepper and we had them backwards but we swapped the containers and got the same result. Either way, not a deal breaker. We'll keep the grinders but just have to be aware of the difference when using them. ... show more

One of the grinders is still fine but the one we put salt in just completely stopped working out of nowhere. And it wasn't screwing up or being weird before; it was literally working very well and in the middle of me using it, it stopped working. I cleaned it, and then changed the batteries TWICE (very carefully to make sure that wasn't the problem). I read a couple reviews about that and they said the company was good about a replacement so hopefully that's accurate. If not, I'll update my review for sure. I love this product but we got it on Sept. 27th and it stopped working a couple days ago OUT OF NOWHERE. That's basically 3/maybe 4 months. I would like a replacement since it wasn't my fault that their product stopped working... ... show more

I seriously can't figure out if it's me, the user or if it's the product. I can't give this a 5. I can though what they ask for... easy to use, easy to hold, and ergonomics. The 4 over all were given due to the fact I want to buy many of these and just put a different herb in each. Yet I can't since even the rock salt size falls through the opening before it's even crushed. Again, if I figure this out, I'll buy more and give the full 5 ratings; till then, this is what I can give. ... show more

To be perfectly honest I bought these as kind of a novelty just to have them. I really wasn't expecting to like them all that much. They are literally all I use now in my kitchen when it comes to salt and pepper. They seem to work pretty well and they look great. I have two minor gripes the first one being that they take six AAA batteries which is rather ridiculous. And that the pepper that I have it doesn't seem to grind up as fine as I would like. ... show more

We love these salt and pepper shakers. The only downfall is that each one takes 6 AAA batteries. 😞 ETA: they actually sent me an email letting me know that they will need AAA batteries (granted I got the item before the email but still) and some tips on how to use the shakers to best suit what you want!
