I've searched for a quality protein source for months, trying many protein powders, and finally found this product. After taking Functional Nutrition courses as a physical therapist, I learned about protein's importance, especially as we age. Many people consume too little protein, including me. The RDA for protein is 0.8g per Kg of body weight. My RD recommended up to 1g per pound of ideal body weight (common for athletes and seniors). That's too much protein for me to eat in a day, thus the need for a quality protein supplement. For me, there are important considerations when choosing a protein supplement, all of which AGN has met. First, the protein is pasture-fed cows certified, never fed antibiotics or hormones. Next, it is third-party tested. If you are a collegiate or pro athlete, you understand the importance of third-party testing. It's tested by Informed Sport, a reputable company known in the sports and dietitian fields, and Informed Protein, another reputable third-party testing company. Each lot is tested for over 250 banned substances, over 400 pesticides, heavy metals, nutrition facts and claim integrity, gluten, and glyphosate. It's also truly grass-fed approved and animal welfare-approved certified. Additionally, it contains no other ingredients except whey protein isolate and non-GMO lecithin (a sunflower-derived emulsifier). I had almost given up finding a protein powder without sugar or sugar substitutes. I also prefer the Isolate form of protein, which refers to a higher quality of purity, indicating additional processing steps to isolate the protein from other components found in milk, such as fat, lactose, and minerals. Isolate whey protein is more concentrated, containing more protein by weight. I found most protein powders contain 20g of protein per 2 scoops, but IGN Roots contains 25g per 2 scoops. That's because it's higher in protein and lower in lactose, making it more digestible. I had noticed a significant increase in gas and bloating with non-isolate whey protein powders, but I have not experienced these symptoms with this product. Further, it contains all 9 essential amino acids, making this a complete protein powder. Some (not all) plant-based protein powders do not carry the full profile of essential amino acids. This is why I chose grass-fed whey protein isolate. I do use a complete plant-based protein powder containing the full spectrum of essential amino acids, but AGN Roots is my top choice. The company owners are from Houston, TX (where I also reside), but the cows are raised in Ireland. I had noticed a review stating we should not trust this product since the owners are not from Ireland. What I trust most are the third-party stamps on my bag of AGN Roots protein powder. I've learned this is crucial because the supplement industry is not regulated by the FDA, ergo, unless any supplement is third-party tested, I cannot be certain of what it contains. Overall, I'm very pleased with this protein powder. I drink 2 scoops in the morning in water, and it's smooth, creamy, and tastes slightly sweet. I also use it in smoothies for lunch after my workout. I highly recommend this protein powder. It meets all my criteria for a safe, reliable, great-tasting protein powder.

I love this product because of its simplicity and purity. Just two ingredients; whey protein and sunflower lecithin. No soy, no fillers, and the source of the dairy is grass fed cows which is important to me. I actually like the half scoop size because I usually do 1.5 scoops, so it's easier to customize the dose. People say it has no flavor and while I get what they mean, that's not quite my experience. There is definitely a flavor, but it is subtle and natural. It's ever so slightly sweet, and creamy. It kind of enhances the creaminess of the raw milk I mix it in and I actually really enjoy it. I tried another protein powder after my first bag of AGN Roots, but I quickly learned that Stevia and really any flavoring just isn't for me. So I think I'll be sticking with this for a while. The price is high, but that's because it's high quality; you get what you pay for. My only real complaint isn't about the protein but the packaging. Like many have said, it doesn't reseal very well. For that reason I transfer the powder to a gallon size airtight glass container (see picture attached.) One other thing is that I went to purchase another bag of this on Amazon but it said it would arrive 2-3 weeks out. So I instead went and ordered directly from their website and got it less than a week. Not sure what's up with that but hopefully they can work it out because ordering from Amazon is more convenient.

So I hate protein drinks. It’s always that whey flavor and after taste. So I brought home what was left of a coffee drink with some Carmel in it for flavor. Put my mushrooms in it and the big Irish Dairy scoop of protein. First it dissolves with a spoon. I stirred it up until smooth and it was creamy with the slightest hint of protein. Probably because I knew it was in there. Very impressed by the Irish. This is my new supplement. I wish they had a colostrum also. The flavor is amazing!

The whey seems fine, but the zip on the bag is not airtight. This is the message I received from the company: “Spill-proof (Not Gas-Tight) - The pouch closure feature is designed for 50-Ib sacks of flour intended to be spill-proof. For an airtight seal, we recommend mason jars. Customers who purchase and place the whey in the refrigerator or freezer do this to avoid the hygroscopic impacts of the whey (similar to baking soda in a fridge). The cold environment retards any risks after the initial seal is broken. Whey is considered hygroscopic and can pick up ambient humidity and moisture when shipped in a rigid PET tub or non-air-tight pouch. The impacts of condensation forming inside after the seal is broken can be devastating regarding microbial growth, which is why once the seal is broken, it is preferred not to be airtight unless stored in the freezer (to allow evaporation).”

After touring farms in Ireland I am 100% behind their nature process and thumbs down on USA low standards. It is so fine it blends flawlessly with no chunks. I stir it into my Greek yogurt and it makes it fluffy but otherwise no difference in flavor or texture. If I use my hand whisk in an inch of milk to blend first then slowly add the hat coffee while whisking, it doesn't clump.
