IN SHORT: if you have young children, hurry up and buy the grandfather/grandmother notebooks! I realized that I didn't know much about my parent's lives as much as I'd like. They always talked to me from a parent to their child, but never truly as they would talk with a close friend. I bought a blank notebook for my father's Christmas few years back, asking him to write down anything he'd like to share with me, stories about his childhood, his first love, his first hungover, how he met my mother, etc. Sure enough, he never wrote in the book. My first born is going to turn 2, and I really wanted to get this information from my parents, so I could share with my children, but also for myself. It turns out, giving an empty notebook was too intimidating for someone who never writes. This is why I love these ones, they are GUIDED. Structure helped my parents write down. In addition to standard questions, there are some thought provoking writing prompts in the “Grandma’s Wisdom” section. Because some responses that could overlap, I typed out my answers so I could move things around. It’s definitely not something to be completed in a sitting or two. I got this book for my grandmother for her birthday in a few weeks. I definitely like the journal/book and I love that it has a family tree and also talks about the grandparent’s parents and the parents’ parents. It also prompts the grandparent to write about the parent of the grandchild and where they were born, what they did, etc. It is well worth the money and I am excited to be able to give it to my grandmother for her birthday! ... show more

I haven't started writing yet. Technically it's made to pair with one child, but I'm going to use it for all our Children for all our Grandchildren. Plenty of space to write and great topics that one may not think to share!
