Wow! This is a beautiful book. What a great way to let your grandchild know who you are, what your life was like, etc. The pages are large, the paper is thick, it has great graphics on each page. The book is to let grandma tell her grandchild about her life and the life of her parents. What a great piece of geneology. In the once it's all filled in, gift this to your grandchild at their graduation or wedding. I'm going to be crying writing my thoughts in this. The size of the book is 9" x 11". A really nice size. IN SHORT: if you have young children, hurry up and buy the grandfather/grandmother notebooks! I realized that I didn't know much about my parent's lives as much as I'd like. They always talked to me from a parent to their child, but never truly as they would talk with a close friend. I bought a blank notebook for my father's Christmas few years back, asking him to write down anything he'd like to share with me, stories about his childhood, his first love, his first hungover, how he met my mother, etc. Sure enough, he never wrote in the book. My first born is going to turn 2, and I really wanted to get this information from my parents, so I could share with my children, but also for myself. It turns out, giving an empty notebook was too intimidating for someone who never writes. This is why I love these ones, they are GUIDED. Structure helped my parents write down. Bought it as a gift for a friend. It’s a very nice book. The prompts seem very helpful and the chapter organization of the book seems logical. I hope my friend likes it and actually fills it out for her grandchildren. They should enjoy it 30 years or so from now. I wish I had had the kind of information the book prompts for, from my grandmother. It would have been wonderful to know those stories and things. ... show more

In addition to standard questions, there are some thought provoking writing prompts in the “Grandma’s Wisdom” section. Because some responses that could overlap, I typed out my answers so I could move things around. It’s definitely not something to be completed in a sitting or two.
