IN SHORT: if you have young children, hurry up and buy the grandfather/grandmother notebooks! I realized that I didn't know much about my parent's lives as much as I'd like. They always talked to me from a parent to their child, but never truly as they would talk with a close friend. I bought a blank notebook for my father's Christmas few years back, asking him to write down anything he'd like to share with me, stories about his childhood, his first love, his first hungover, how he met my mother, etc. Sure enough, he never wrote in the book. My first born is going to turn 2, and I really wanted to get this information from my parents, so I could share with my children, but also for myself. It turns out, giving an empty notebook was too intimidating for someone who never writes. This is why I love these ones, they are GUIDED. Structure helped my parents write down. This is the most considerate gift I feel that you could ever give to any grandparent or grandparent to be. I got it for mine because she is 85, there really wasn’t much else that she needed and with her being in the process of feeling like she won’t be around for too much longer I wanted to have the memories of her stay alive. She absolutely loved it and it was the best gift she had gotten. One where she got to interact with and share her memories and stories from when she was little. It provides family recipes, why her parents named her the way they did, how many siblings she had and their birth dates, the big news that she remembers growing up. Most of all, it was something that she could share with her great grand child when we decide to have a family of our own. She will still be a part of our family and seen throughout. We got this for my mom for Mothers Day so she can gift it to our baby son one day. She loved it! The pages are great and filled with lots go guided questions for her to answer. It's a beautiful book for a Grandmother to journal her Grandchildren life. I purchased two books but one of the Grandmother's already had a book. I don't think I can return the extra book but Amazon it is still New it hasn't been used. I sure would like to return.

    • I’m making it work for me and my grandson

This isn’t exactly what I was looking for, but I’m not sure what exactly it is that would work for my situation. I have a beautiful baby grandson who is currently 8months old. I haven’t been permitted to see him since he was 6wks old. And I’m told that I will never be in his life again, according to his mother. My son is his father, but this doesn’t seem to make a difference. Anyway, I needed a way to let my sweet little grandson know that I do love him and I do miss him every single day and I didn’t choose to not be in his life. I wanted a way to write him things about me and his dad and what his dad was like as a baby, little boy, teenager (God help me!) and as a man, and even what I got to witness as his father. Also, I could tell him about his aunts and uncle and cousins. And write him special notes for every holiday and birthday and graduation so he will truly know how much I love him and wanted to be a part of his life. I can’t mail anything, bc his mother throws it away. I honestly don’t know what to do with this heartache but I’m trying to channel it into something positive. The situation is truly soul crushing.
