I've bought and assembled 5 pieces from Grainwood now, three dressers and two nightstands. The engineering is precise, which makes assembly a snap. Once together everything is solid and sturdy. The hardware--slides, handles, etc--is good quality and works well. There was no strong chemical smell to this dresser and the two nightstands and I was able to move them into my bedroom immediately. The wood is only pine or other softwood but it's real wood with no particle board. That matters when assembling and years later. If you're looking at this you already know most of the furniture in stores is particle board with a picture of wood glued on the top. These are not that way. Pros: I like that this product of solid wood and the hardware is nice. Pieces were clearly labeled so it was easy to follow directions for building. Product arrive when it said it would. Cons: The color is a lot lighter in person and not what I was expecting. The drawers do not pull out very far which makes getting clothing in and out tricky. Two of the drawers don’t close all the way properly. The outward face of the middle support section is not quite the same color as the rest and doesn’t sit flush in one area. For how expensive this piece is, I expected better quality. It’s kind of a bummer. I was really looking forward to it arriving but am somewhat disappointed with the product. ... show more

This is a great dresser. Solid wood drawer fronts and dresser frame. We added our own knobs rather than what it came with. It took me about 2 and a half hours to put it together by myself, which is possible, despite instructions saying it's a 2 person job. Drawers are a little shallower than I would prefer, and they seem to stop a little short (pictured), making it difficult to see what's in the back of the drawer, but considering the solid material, I gave it 5 stars anyways as that might just be my personal preference rather than a construction flaw. If you're looking for a solid wood dresser, this is a win as far as buying furniture on Amazon goes! Worth the price to get real wood. ... show more

Outstanding furniture. Very beautiful dresser and extremely high quality. Easy to build and instructions are simple to read. For the price I paid I did not expect much but when it was finally built I was very impressed. We spent days looking in furniture stores at over priced low quality furniture. These are solid and will last many years. If you are on the fence go for it. This company also gives you many spare parts so you'll definitely not fall short.     • Need a lot of additional tools to assemble

I’ve had the dresser pieces in my bedroom for a month now, but it wasn’t clear from the Amazon listing that I’d need my own drill and hammer to assemble the dresser. I’m a student and only owned a few screwdrivers, so I haven’t been able to put it together yet. I’m looking into drills now, but won’t be able to afford a decent one this month. The pieces themselves look sturdy and I have high hopes for the dresser when it’s assembled! But I wish it had been made clear in the listing that this was going to require a lot more work/tools to put together than most furniture ordered from Amazon. ... show more

I rarely write reviews, but wanted to give others an opportunity to make an informed decision before ordering, as I at first had a positive experience, but then had the very worst experience I've ever had with any vendor. This company makes nice wood furniture that, once assembled, is attractive and looks much more expensive than it is. However, the path to getting all the correct and undamaged pieces needed to assemble your furniture -- and any replacement pieces to replace damaged/incorrect pieces -- is painful due to their terrible customer service and lack of quality control. The positive: The bed and nightstands arrived beautifully, no problem. Love them - attractive style, beautiful soft off-white shade of paint on a nicely grained wood. The negative: The matching 6-drawer dresser purchased later arrived with 2 damaged pieces (possibly during shipping), and it took a full month of back-and-forth emails and shipments during which we repeatedly received parts that were damaged again (see photo of nail pop with shoddy touch-up paint job), incorrect pieces (wrong part sent, i.e. part 02 vs part 03), or the correct part arrived damaged again, or even worse in the WRONG COLOR/FINISH ENTIRELY (a gray side piece was sent instead of the brushed white (see photo), and then the next replacement side piece was a BRIGHT WHITE and rough, looked like it was only primed, not painted to match the rest of the off-white and smooth dresser pieces (see photo showing difference in the finishes/color). Emails go unacknowledged for days, there is no way to speak with a customer service agent because the phone number listed does not work, and if you eventually do receive a response to your email, most emailed responses are robotic, generic, vague, and not at all reassuring that your situation is being handled. Only Josh in the CS team was helpful - the supposed manager (Millie) and other staff were not at all reassuring that the issues would be resolved, and in fact manager Millie was very rude in her emails. After having to bring the multiple incorrect/damaged/wrong colored pieces to our local refuse station in multiple trips, together with all the packaging material, and after many complaints via email and online portal requesting a concession, we were ultimately told that a 15% discount on a future purchase is the best they could do (approx $60) which I think is very ungenerous considering the incredible frustration, inconvenience and hassle we experienced for a month. The warehouse/replacement team is clearly lazy when sending replacement pieces, and the customer service team does not appear to care about customer satisfaction or repeat purchases. If the furniture arrives in good shape as our bed and nightstands did, it is an attractive and budget-friendly option. But be prepared that if there are any issues with the pieces such as we experienced with the 6-drawer dresser (arrived damaged, in wrong color, or missing parts), you may have a long road ahead of you to have things corrected, and you will NOT be working with an easy-to-reach, warm, reassuring customer service team. Also of note before you order a bed: if you want to disassemble the bed to move it, you will need to purchase new screw covers because the original screw covers must be basically destroyed with a screw or nail to get them out -- so you will need to order all new covers for reassembling the bed -- they do not tell you this in advance. Shipping of the screw covers cost more than the parts themselves. Also, VERY IMPORTANT -- you will not be able to call the phone number on the web site -- it does not work -- so you cannot talk live to anyone there and you may have to write to them repeatedly to get any kind of response.
