  • Usable, but best for experienced users
This is one of the few options I have been able to find in stock anywhere for GPUs that isn't a full coverage block. Mount pattern seems to work for AMD cards (52.5mm), mine is a 6700 TX, pretty sure AMD has been using the same mount spacing for a while now. Few things to note is you don't want to use this straight out of the box! The really bad: one of the screws on the base plate was lose, the internal fins had some kind of dirt in them, and on the top of the block inside around where the O-ring seals was poorly cleaned after milling, it had lose material from the block not cleaned right and much of it was lose enough that over time it would probably come off and either clog your blocks or chew up a pump. I cleaned some out by hand and the harder material with a hobby knife. The kinda bad: The mounting hardware is about what you would think for a $20 block from China, it could use some larger washers etc. The other issue is the base is not flat, at ALL. You can see in one of the photos the copper at the top and bottom with the silver coating in the middle, this is from me lapping the base to see how bad it's contact would be and the edges are VERY high, I started with 400 grit and went at it for a while before even the machining marks went away in the middle. You can see in another photo of what I ended with, super flat and clean down to 2000 grit. Keep in mind most GPUs don't have IHS's and are direct die, a curve that bad can result in horrible temps, or if tightened to much, maybe even a cracked die. After all that work and finishing the block as it should have been, I see stable 39-40C with the card overclocked underload, idle is 31C. Stock cooler with high fan profiles and no OC would be 76-79C. And the absolute best part is the lack of 3,000 RPM fans hunting up and down based on load. If anyone from the mfg reads this, clean up some of the issues, make sure QC is better, make sure the base is FLAT, it doesn't need to be mirror, but it needs to be FLAT. Improve the internal fins, they are serviceable, but look like they were cut with a dremel. Mounting hardware with better sized thumb screws, add in some washers etc. and myself and I am sure others would pay twice the price for something you don't have to spend a few hours getting right. To everyone else, I gave this 4 stars to let people know it's an option and well...it's 20 bucks if you have the skill and time for a block you can carry over card to card. However if this was $40 I would give it a 1 star, not worth it for the work needed to use. ... show more

  • Good These are my first water blocks.
Bought 2 of these for my dying laptop. Looks good! I got to test one out for leaks. Holding ok so far no leaks. I thought the top was made of metal it's not. The after market caps i got doesn't like to thread nice, so i stopped and used the radiator caps and plugged it in well. The mounting holes on my laptop dont line up with description even though i measured beforehand like 10x. While trying to figure out how to mount the block i found out the mounting bracket between the cold plate and the plastic material shifts around has movement about 2-3mm . I checked the other one i bought and its stiff and tight. I tighten the 4 screws and it was OK. It drop my over heating laptop from 65-75 idle to now 25c idle. The graphics before would not go pass 900mhz now it shows 1800mhz. Im very happy. Thanks. ... show more
