We put these lights under the roof of our front porch and they work well. We hid them as much as possible so the actual light strip was not visible and I think it looks great. It worked out that the length of the lights was the prefect length we needed for our roof. The quality of the light strip was really great too- it’s thick so it can withhold bad weather that the South has to offer. I was also impressed by the brightness of these lights too. I was worried they were going to be dim but they look fantastic in the dark. Installation was pretty easy as well- Minimal swears by my perfectionist husband. The clips work well with the adhesion of the light strip. Getting them to go on straight wasn’t that hard. We have had them installed for 3 weeks now, and they are staying put. The app is really easy to use to change the design and color of lights- there is countless variations you can do! We love changing them to match each holiday without taking them down and putting them up. Chances of our HOA addressing them is slim to none. I would recommend these lights if you want to celebrate holidays without the headache of setting up for them! Govee is an amazing brand! We will be purchasing more of these awesome lights soon!

I replaced my THIRD failed Daybetter waterproof 32’ (TWO strands) light strip in 3 years with this Govee SINGLE 32’ strand of MUCH better lights. I’ll just list my favorite things as a lighting connoisseur - we have trippy lighting in every room in the house. Heat - With the cheap lights I had before, there were problems with the lights and power supply both running hot, and on the second strand it actually left burn marks on the wall. Pretty sure our house would have burned down shortly after if we hadn’t bought the third strand. Each set of Daybetter lights also had a smaller power supply than the last, clearly to save money, at the expense of running dangerously hot. We’ve had these Govee lights on just about 24/7 since installing and there’s no sign of dangerous heat in the least. Colors - the color options are awesome! True white, and vibrant colors. I love addressable lights because you can get cool patterns or mixed colors, but it would be nice if it was addressable down to the individual light. That would up the price for sure though, so I’m not taking off any stars for that. The app has a TON of pattern options, but I’m not a fan of any of the presets. A smoother transition of lights slowly changing in the “dream chasing” style is my favorite alternative to static colors, but no such luck (it may be doable but I haven’t seen it yet). Adhesion - better than competitors, and it’s nice to have the mounting brackets too. I did a combo of sticky backing and the brackets and I’m very happy with the result. The cable is super long, so I had to get creative hiding most of it, but they’re rated for outdoor so it fits those needs perfectly. I do like the on off switch on the cord too. Would buy again. Govee is my new favorite mid-upper tier lighting brand, only second to Hue and Superlighting LED. Their behind TV light strips are superb too. I’ll be buying another strand in a week or so to replace a Blacklight we were using. Hope this helped.

Update: Almost a year later. The adhesive has held and all lights are functional. Still no scene orientation change 🤷♂️ Had our first Halloween with these and the “Thriller” scene in the “Movies” section was stunning. Lots of compliments from trick or treaters. Changing my review to 5 stars because they’re just amazing. Original: 🤩Just did the whole front of our house with these and they’re great. ✅ They install easily and put off a great array of colors. ✅ Lots of options to choose from with the lighting scenes and you can create your own scenes. ✅ Loving the ability to use these in the off season with a nice dimmable warm/cool glow. This was a big selling point for us. 👍 The adhesive seems okay. I’ll circle back in a year to talk more about this. 🙈 The app is not without it’s limitations. One thing I’d like to see is the ability to reverse the directional orientation of sequences. When you’re installing outside lights, you’re at the mercy of power sources and sometimes must run the lights in an opposite direction. I’ve not found a way to change their orientation yet, but will update my review if I do. I’d like to see more group control features with time. As of now, the group control is extremely limited. First, you must be in Bluetooth range. Not always a convenient option. Second, when dealing with different lengths and installation orientations, it’s not very simple to get different segments to play well together. Actually impossible when using scenes. You can do diy programming to achieve that, so in theory it’s possible. 🙄 Cutting can be done to these (at the predetermined segment points where you see the solder), but be warned, splicing isn’t quite as simple when working with outdoor lighting. I tried to cut and connect two separate sections via a 18/5 wire, and it ended up being a huge waste of time. I ended up just buying another segment and powering it from a different source. Even as a professional, it was difficult to use a 5 pin connector on them. Even when soldered, it was buggy. I do highly recommend these and hope with time the app gets more awesome. Aside from the few minor gripes, I love these.

I purchased two of their outdoor light kits. Both failed within 6–7 months. As many other reviews mention, they have a very short lifespan. These lights are installed under an outdoor cover, protected from direct weather, with only temperature changes to deal with. One has already been replaced under a warranty claim, and the other is still being reviewed. What is really frustrating — and shows the true identity of this company — is that they refuse to sell replacement parts for their lights. The power adapter failed, and that should be something you’re allowed to purchase. With the poor quality of their products, I’m sure it will happen again within the next six months. But instead of letting you replace the defective part, they make you buy the entire kit, which drives up sales because of their own quality issues. So purchase knowing what you’re getting into: short product life, warranty claims, potential rewiring, throwing away still‑working components, and likely having to buy the whole kit again as soon as the warranty ends. Two of their products, same pattern. No longer a future customer.

These fit perfectly around our pergola. They work much better than expected and the app has so many options. Some of the scenes are a bit much but most are very nice. As others have stated, they don’t supply enough clips and don’t allow you to order more. I found some on Amazon that worked well (https://a.co/d/1YpLtcD). If it were not for that, I would have rated it a five star. When you have enough clips, installation was a breeze. The power cords have a good length and connections are water tight. Lights are also enclosed in silicon layer, which makes them thicker than standard strip lights. Overall, great lights.

Hope these last ... Cause they look really great compared to the aluminum track lights all over my neighborhood. The dedicated warm and cool white with selectable temp between the extremes is excellent as is the app and alexa pairing. The connectors are the best I have seen on any other strip light, by far. I spaced the clips from 2 ft to 2.5 ft apart and is tight and sturdy. A 33ft section comes with 30 clips, but that is way more than what I needed. Granted at each corner recommend a clip about an inch from either side. If you were really into soldering and some shrink tubing, you could make a 33 ft paired with another 33 ft. I bought a 66 ft section it seems it is simply a soldered connector between the two strips. I did not attempt to cut these, don't recommend doing so as they are water resistant and instructions say not to cut them as well. Got lucky on my application, worked out just right ending a little behind my front fence line. I installed behind my eves, was a pain to pre-drill and screw on the clips, but worth it for the look. I drilled and installed the clips in one pass and then installed the lights after the clips were done on my second ladder shuffle. The first run I installed the strip while drilling and putting in screws and took much longer to juggle it all. Please take the time to check your Phillips bit is tight with the smaller screws, they strip in a heart beat if not. A dewalt 90 deg adapter to drill the holes worked great. Took some pictures of the install, what is in the box and end result, hope yours goes as well and you get the look you are after. Neighbors so far have said this looks better than some of the commercial installed stuff, it simply if it lasts or not. Note. I do hope keeping it shaded from the sun and UV will reduce aging the plastic and last a little longer.

I’m actually surprised that this light strip is returned so often. It appeared to function nicely and the app on my iphone was no problem at all. The strip has a nice array of colors and I’m just learning to get custom setups. Fun to play with! Oh boy… Forget the original review. The lights are starting to fail to come on after 5 months of occasional use. I’m currently dealing with the consumer affairs lady at Govee. It will be interesting to see if they are willing to send me a working replacement or repair the power source or switch.
