  • The review I wish I saw—and why this deserves 5 stars (even if it’s not perfect) The review I wish I saw—and why this deserves 5 stars (even if it’s not perfect)
Size: 11.8FT for 55"-65" TV
A lot of what I see other people saying is slightly misleading. I see a mix of: •AAAA AMAZING PERFECT!! •extremely underwhelming. •Good but... *proceeds to list fatal flaws* Here's my honest two cents. What it does well, what it doesn't, and why I'm never owning a TV without one again. Let's get into it. Immersion: This thing is insane. If you’ve never experienced anything like it before, prepare to be hooked. It adds a whole new layer to the experience—it’s not just watching anymore, it’s experiencing. Explosions light up the room, emotional scenes set the mood, and suddenly your TV feels alive. It's hard to find words for how much it changes your enjoyment of what you're watching. Colors Response and HDR: The responsiveness is great, no noticeable lag. (It supports 4K at 144Hz, and if you need 8K for your TV… well, you’re probably crazy, but it does handle it at 60Hz.) I’ve seen camera-based systems, and honestly, they don’t even come close in speed. Not at all. HDR has been great for me too, though it really just depends on your TV. If you’re seeing complaints about that, I wouldn’t let that be the reason why you wouldn’t buy. The backlight is very accurate to what’s happening on the edges of the screen. Sure, if you’re the type to sit and stare at the lights instead of the show for five minutes, waiting for an “AHA!” moment to catch something slightly off, you might be able to find something. But in my experience, it’s spot on... I haven’t seen anything like blacks showing as green or other weird issues. HDMI switching: Soo easy. You just press a button on the sync-box and it switches instantly to the other inputs. No need to shuffle HDMI cords around, and you can have 4 different devices plugged into the ports. (Only uses one HDMI cord going to your TV, so you can have more devices that aren't associated with the sync-box) What needs work? -The app interface needs some adjustments to make it more user friendly. Some of the customizations I would argue make the product worth using aren't enabled by default. It's not that big of a deal but having to dig around the app is not ideal, just to make it work correctly. I've already had two firmware updates so it seems like they are working on it actively. -Compatibility with streaming devices can be a bit quirky, it doesn’t turn off by default, even with the right settings (I use a Roku). But let me stress: this is not a big deal. I almost didn’t buy it because of one review mentioning this, and honestly, I’m glad I didn’t listen. There’s literally a button on the device to turn it off. Literally. That said, I don’t even recommend getting up to press it—this thing is fully Alexa-compatible. In fact, I’d say Alexa is almost necessary for the full experience. You can turn it on and off, adjust the brightness, and skip using the app altogether (after you set it up). It really ties everything together. What needs "work"? (my tips) -ITS TOO HARSH, EW. Adjust your settings! Make it less bright, tone down saturation, fine tune the colors with the provided adjustments, change the relative brightness, turn on or off the sound effects, change the softness of the sound effects, adjust the distance of the TV from the wall, change the- (do you get my point? it's really adjustable lol) -It doesn't work with my TV! Unfortunately this guy does not work with a smart TV, it needs some sort of HDMI input to intercept. Even though the camera systems aren't as accurate if you aren't willing to use some sort of other device like a roku or streaming box, you'll have to use one of those. Or another TV. -I don't even have a flat wall behind my TV this won't work... This guy is BRIGHT, see my picture and videos, I did a color and video test to demonstrate it. You don't NEED a flat wall behind it, but I'm sure it helps enhance the viewing experience even more. All in all, this product impressed me. The immersion it creates is insane, but honestly? What sets this apart from others is the price. It's unbeatable. The hue system is so much more expensive, govee is on to something with this lineup. Sure, you can always find small things wrong with a product and I'm not claiming it's perfect, nothing good ever is. But don't let others sway you away from choosing this, it's not a "compromise" even though it's cheaper than similar systems. ... show more

  • Amazing!
Size: 16.3FT for 75"-85" TV
This product from govee is awesome in every way - the sync box looks great with the LED light strip (that even mimics the colors being projected), easy install and color blending is great. I honestly think it beats Hue at half the cost. Definitely recommend this product to anyone looking to upgrade their movie experience. ... show more

  • Pretty accurate, but this not the camera version.
Size: 11.8FT for 55"-65" TV
Wanted something to make my movie time more immersive, I’ve tried the camera version but it wasn’t exactly spot on for, but this product did the job, these thangs are very bright especially if you’re in a dark room, the look of the colors are pretty good but some of the colors aren’t exactly 100%, mainly shades of blue red and yellow range but still pretty spot on, luckily the Govee app lets you control every aspect of the light strips, from brightness down to the saturation of displayed colors to make it more vibrant and more saturated if you choose to do so. Install was a breeze plug and play and you don’t really need the app to be honest. Connectivity is reliable, haven’t had it cut out, if the reds and blue were more red and blue I’d would have given it a 5 star, I’d say Philip hues does those specific colors better but at that point I’m just knit picking, overall very satisfied with my purchase. ... show more

  • Absolutely works with an AVR!
Size: 16.3FT for 75"-85" TV
I was pretty worried that the sync box would throw off my whole system, but it has worked perfectly. I have an AVR (Onkyo) that serves as my central hub for all of my devices (stream boxes, video game consoles, cableTV box, etc.). So the AVR handles all of the HDMI switching and I just use one single remote to turn on the TV, AVR, etc. and control the volume. So my signal chain was Devices --> AVR --> TV. I was really concerned that adding a sync box would mess up all of that and disrupt the CEC and eARC protocols. Thankfully, I've had zero issues and no problems! So my signal chain is now: Devices (via HDMI cables) --> AVR (out via single HDMI cable) --> Govee Sync Box (out via single HDMI cable) --> TV eARC port. That's it. And it works perfectly. Every remote still turns on the TV, AVR, controls the volume, etc. and adding the sync box didn't change the behavior of anything. YMMV, but everything works perfectly for me! The colors are spot on and it really adds to the TV watching experience. The only thing I'd add is that if your cable box uses 1080i output (looking at you, Spectrum), the Sync box won't work with that standard. That's an old broadcast standard and only older CableTV boxes still use it. Some boxes let you switch between 1080i to 1080p (which works perfectly), but some cable providers (again, looking at you, Spectrum) have old a$$ equipment that doesn't allow switching. If that's the case you'll need to get a new cable box from your provider. One that outputs at 1080p. Once I switched the box to a newer box everything worked perfectly. ... show more

  • AI Sync Box is the absolute best Govee product.
Size: 16.3FT for 75"-85" TV
I don't know why people mess around with the camera based TV backlight systems, when an HDMI pass-through system like this works SO much better. It's plug and play easy to install, works perfectly with no calibration needed, and it hides out of sight instead of adding an ugly obstruction top dead center of your screen. The backlights themselves are pretty good - although if you have an 85" TV this *barely* covers, you will have dark spots in the corners where the lights don't quite reach. They stick well though, I haven't had any problems with the lights falling off the TV at all. The main attraction though is the AI Sync Box, and the Govee phone app to control it. You can connect up to TEN other Govee lights to it, and map them to zones on the TV with the app so they are all controlled by the AI Sync Box when your TV is on - and now your *entire room* changes color with your TV! I have no interest in going to the theater anymore, my own living room looks more amazing now with all these lights. When adding other lights to your setup, just make sure the Govee product is "Movie Watching Dream View" compatible - some of their products only work with the "Scenic" or "Music" Dream View modes, and won't work with this product. I've found that most of their products are Movie Watching Dream View compatible though - even many of the outdoor lights! The regular Govee light bulbs work great with this. Another cool feature if you are a gamer, the "AI Identification" option in the mobile app can be enabled to add special lighting effects for specific games - make the lights go crazy when you get a pentakill in League of Legends, or make the lights flash colors when you get hit by an item in Mario Kart for example. This only supports a preset list of ~50 games right now, but it has many of the most popular titles in there, and they seem to be expanding support for new games. The HDMI pass-through, the high quality mobile app, and the easy integration with other Govee products makes this the obvious best choice for upgrading your home theater. Govee support is also fantastic, and the mobile app has a built-in social platform which at first I found annoying but has actually been a great source for tips and advice on Govee products from other users. ... show more

  • Govee is GREAT, Sync Box is…
Size: 16.3FT for 75"-85" TV
Rubbish. Unfortunately the AI Sync Box 2 is easily the worst Govee product I have ever purchased—I’m crossing fingers and toes that software updates can fix. The issues start with the actual length of the strip light. I have an 85 inch TV and purchased the 85 inch version of AI Sync and it hardly covers the TV which leads to “dead” corners. Not the end of the world but it gets worse from there. These things are a blinking nightmare—unlike my camera based Govee TV backlights I have owned in the past which are wonderul; the AI Sync Box has the following issues: 1. Flickering constantly—much worse if you are using Dreamview. 2. Very, very slow to respond to onscreen changes. My camera Govee works amazing with nearly seamless transitions—this is very noticeable delay. 3. Not colorful at all. It seems to generally give off a white glow and no matter what I do setting wise it just isn’t colorful. 4. If there are colors they are wrong. I was watching a movie that has a scene that is completely black and it started displaying blue and red for example—this happens a lot. 5. Dreamview very slow to link. My older camera based Govee setup instantly connects to all my Govee products for Dreamview—this sometimes takes several minutes for all the lights to finally sync to Dreamview. 6. USB cable is SUPER short—85 inch TVs are quite massive and the baby USB cord provided barely reaches the box on my entertainment center. This in my opinion is the first miss from Govee. Truly love the company and own literally hundreds of their devices but this one simply misses nearly every mark. I would say get one of the camera based TV backlights instead—or what for potentially it being fixed via software update. It’s a bummer for sure. ... show more

  • Very Bright!
Size: 11.8FT for 55"-65" TV
I have had the T2 Camera for over a year, but I wanted to upgrade. The cameras seem to constantly have lights on, instead of turning them off when the screen goes black. My wife wanted a cloud ceiling, so incorporated it into Dreamview. Lights adhesives stick well to the back of the TV, length is perfect for my 65inch. Watch the video... It looks pretty cool if you ask me. VERY bright, but the settings are very customizeable. The Sync Box was very easy to install and use. WARNING: It requires a HDMI signal going into it. Smart TVs won't work on it. you'll need an exterior device like a fire stick, Roku, Xbox, etc. ... show more
