I've been using a couple of the lower priced Akaso Brave cameras for over a year now. I think they're a great value for the price but have been wanting something with a bit better video quality. This is my first GoPro since 2015 or so and I think it's pretty excellent so far. The camera is solid feeling in the hand and seems very rugged and durable. I find it very easy to use, granted I don't fiddle with the settings much, I mainly just mount the camera and hit record, but the UI works well especially on such a small screen. The stabilization is fantastic on this model and overall I think the video quality is really very good. It's more than adequate for sharing on social media and the frame rate stays fluid even in lower light conditions. Still images aren't as good as the video but I think they're good enough. This bundle is nice because it comes with a MicroSD card and the handle, which I think make it a very good value considering buying them separately could run another $40-$50. I also like that the unit is entirely waterproof which makes it great to use attached to my scooter's handlebars. Compared to the Brave 4 I was using previously, this Hero 4K is a pretty solid and notable upgrade and I think it would suffice for 95% of users out there who aren't trying to create professional videos but want something more durable (and less expensive) than a phone to beat up.

So here is the deal with this camera and a failing GoPro company. After people realized that they are no longer the only option, and on top of that competition (osmo action much?) offers more at lower price they sales started to go the expected direction, much to my amusement (I owned every GoPro generation from 4 all the way through hero 9) Now instead of just admitting that they inflate the price of their products and lock you in their ecosystem (like $60 microphone adapter so you can use your own microphone) and just releasing their new flagship at a competitive price and performance they decided to cut almost everything, stuff it in a small box and call it a day. And guess what? You can still get a camera from their competitors at similar price that offers everything and more compared to their hero series. So who is this for? Other than die hard GoPro fans I see no reason to buy it. Battery life is decent for the size but not where near you'd want it to be. It works, don't get me wrong. Video and picture quality is nice, the core functionality is there, the issue is that they went with this ridiculous design just to get a piece of power end market and still lock you in to their ecosystem
